Este trabalho discute o papel de determinados recursos do texto falado em inglês, observando a sua importância na caracterização do discurso do sujeito “drag queen”, uma vez que também é na linguagem e por meio dela que os sujeitos se constituem e se representam. Para tanto, verifica-se como esses recursos são utilizados pelo sujeito “drag queen” em relação à identidade de gênero. A exposição teórica inicia-se pela apresentação da reação entre a fala e a escrita, perpassando as características organizacionais da conversação e os marcadores conversacionais e prossegue com a da preservação das faces, polidez e conceituação de entrevistas e suas principais características, e por fim abordamos a noção de sujeito, identidade e gênero. Logo em seguida, discutimos o papel que os recursos da língua falada empregado pelo sujeito “drag queens” exercem na constituição identitária desse sujeito. O corpus deste trabalho é constituído pela gravação de alguns episódios denominados “Reunited” das três primeiras temporadas do reality show “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” veiculado no canal a cabo VHI nas quintas-feiras às 21h00min. Ressaltamos que o nosso corpus pode ser classificado como conversação espontânea, embora se configure como uma entrevista, pois apresenta características básicas da língua falada, tais como: menor grau de planejamento verbal, o envolvimento dos interlocutores entre si e com o assunto e a existência de um espaço compartilhado entre os interactantes. Assim, nos valemos das descrições da materialidade linguística e das interpretações qualitativas alicerçadas em conceitos da Análise da Conversação e da Análise do Discurso. Por fim, pudemos constatar que a construção identitária do sujeito “drag queen” é resultado não somente do seu discurso, como também da sua vestimenta, postura, modos e gestos, portanto, trata-se de uma construção social e discursiva oriunda de um processo que se constitui de fragmentos de outros discursos, o que torna a identidade desse sujeito múltipla e fragmentada. Além disso, assinalamos que essa constituição identitária pode ser mais bem compreendida dentro de um continuum, no qual temos os pólos masculino e feminino e o gênero “drag queen” emergiria em um entremeio, trazendo em si marcas e fatos linguisticos desses atrelados a peculiaridades que lhe seriam próprias. Palavras-Chave: Inglês falado; identidade de gênero; sujeito. 6 ABSTRACT This work discusses the role of some resources of the spoken in English, observing its importance in the characterization of the discourse of the drag queen as a subject, once the subjects are constituted and represented in and though the language. For doing so, the use those resources by the drag queen as a subject is verified in terms of gender; after that, there is a discussion on the role played by these resources in the building of the identity notion of those subjects. The corpus of this work is made up by the recording of the episode entitled “Reunited” of the second season of an American reality show called on Thursdays at 9:00pm. We have emphasized that our corpus can be classified as spontaneous conversation once tit reveals basic features of the spoken language, such as: lower lever of verbal planning, the involvement of the speakers among themselves and with the issues and the existence of a space shared among the interactantes. Being so, we have made use of descriptions of linguistic materiality and qualitative interpretations based on concepts of Conversation Analysis and Discourse Analysis. Finally, we have presented the outcomes from the analysis of the use of linguistic forms which are typical in the female speech, emphasizing mainly the intentional use of these resources by the speaker, wishing to build a gender identity for his/her discourse as a drag queen. Through textual analysis and theories of queer and feminist studies, this thesis joins the fundamental debates about drag and its role in society. With these debates as a starting point, this thesis is dedicated to determining the position of Drag Race within the tension between gay politics and queer politics that lies in the programme’s construction of what drag is supposed to be. By focusing on the relation of masculinity and femininity in drag, and on the role of sleaziness in drag, this thesis argues that RuPaul’s Drag Race refuses to be located unequivocally as a project of either gay or queer politics. This reading does not only propose an innovative take on the programme but it also manages to further problematise the distinction between the two “kinds” of politics. O texto faz parte de um estudo preliminar a respeito das aproximações culturais entre a cena estadunidense e a brasileira, pela qual circulam referências sobre personagens e experiências drag queen. Para tanto, faz uma análise qualitativa de duas temporadas (2013 e 2014) do programa e suas principais articulações sobre as questões de gênero e identidade sexual que fundamentam a posterior análise e discussão de outros experimentos no Brasil. She was crowned Miss Gay Joliet 2009. Since that first pageant victory, she has competed in numerous additional pageants and has won many titles, including the following: Miss Illinois USofA at Large 2011 Miss Tri-States North America International at Large 2011 Miss Wisconsin North America International at Large 2012 Miss North America International at Large 2013 Miss Five Nightclub Plus 2013 Miss Elite of Elegance 2013 Miss Chicago Continental 2013 Miss Midwest United States 2016 Cee-Cee performs regularly in drag shows at venues throughout the Midwest, primarily in “Dining with the Divas” at Hamburger Mary’s in Oak Park and Milwaukee, as well as at Berlin, Hydrate, Progress, and Atmosphere in Chicago; Club Krave in Blue Island; Club Diesel in Peoria; The Office in Rockford; Traz in Carbondale; several nightclubs in Wisconsin; and many other regional night spots. She has also performed in shows in Las Vegas. In addition to pursuing her drag career, Cee-Cee has founded her own fashion business in Blue Island called LaRouge Designs, featuring her unique, customized showgirl-style designs of dresses, gowns, body suits, and other clothing.
