Those rainy, cold days in mid- May, did nothing to help the farmers get in fields to plant spring crops. The of saying, “that’s Ohio weather” sure holds true this year. A few weeks ago, many of you heard the sad news of the passing of Dr. Peter Spike. Pete was a great teacher, coach, mentor, and friend to so many of us in the Ohio dairy industry. He will be greatly missed by the Ohio Hol- stein Association for all he did; board member, officer, committee chair, web- master, sale catalog editor, sale adver- tising, and so much more. I personal- ly remember Pete’s love for music, we regularly compared ‘notes’ on musical pieces we had performed and enjoyed. Pete was a man of great faith, a won- derful husband and father, a Holstein breeder, and a friend to so many. May he rest in peace as he sings with the an- gels.
