GPA Report – Fall 2018 Semester FROM: Ronald Shidemantle Director Department of Greek Student Engagement & Development TO: Chapter & Council Executive Leadership Chapter Advisors Chapter Alumni Leadership SUBJECT: Fraternity & Sorority GPA Report – Fall 2018 Semester DATE: February 18, 2019 I am pleased to provide you with information regarding fraternity and sorority grade point averages for the fall 2018 semester at Western Carolina University. Please help me congratulate those collegiate fraternal organizations and students who have excelled academically in the fall 2018 Semester. It is important to note the All-Greek Semester & Cumulative GPA’s were again higher than the All-Undergraduate Semester & Cumulative GPA Scores (See Page #6). This is the third consecutive semester that fraternity men and sorority women collectively are performing better than the non-affiliated undergraduate student population. Top performing chapters by leadership council this semester are as follows: (College Panhellenic Council) Phi Mu Sorority (Gamma Mu Chapter) – 57 women with a 3.448 semester GPA; (National Pan-Hellenic Council) Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (Pi Gamma Chapter) – 11 women with a 3.203 semester GPA; and (Interfraternity Council) Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity (North Carolina Pi Colony) – 19 men with a 3.197 semester GPA. I have included in this semester’s report a chart (see Page #6) with specific community total membership information for the past 4 semesters. The community has seen membership growth for both the fall and spring semesters in 2017 and 2018. Many of our chapter leaders continue to work diligently on academic achievement and support initiatives, so please continue to encourage our students to keep the Fraternity & Sorority GPA’s on the path to continuous improvement in the future.
