ORANGUTANS IN BORNEO, BALI &LOMBOK 11 DAYS/10 NIGHTS ITINERARY Day 1 - Selamat Pagi Bali! (/) Transfer from Denpasar Airport to your hotel, Barong Resort Ubud. Barong Resort is a luxurious accommodation with the appearance of a comfortable and private traditional Balinese family compound. If you are exhausted from your flight, go to the hotel’s Balinese spa for a wonderful massage. Day 2 - Ubud (/) Free Day. During this free day, you have many trips and activities to choose from. Here are a few options: • Explore nearby Tegallalang, the area’s most photographed rice paddies. This is a great escape to take in the beauty of the fields without the crowds. • Visit the picturesque Temple of Pura Taman Saraswati, situated in a beautiful water garden with thousands of lotus flowers. Don’t forget your camera! • Go to the Museum of Puri Lukisan. This "Palace of Paintings" showcases modern Balinese paintings and drawings and is mandatory for anyone interested in Balinese art. • How about a yoga class? Ubud is the spiritual capital of Bali, making it the ideal setting for yoga. • Biking is a great way to explore Bali's countryside and dining at Mozaic, Bali's best restaurant; it shouldn’t be missed. JAVA Day 3 - Ubud → Jakarta (/) Transfer from Barong Resort Ubud to Denpasar Airport. Fly from Bali to Java. Transfer from Jakarta Airport to your hotel, Alila Jakarta. Jakarta is a metropolitan city populated by more than 9 million people and has an incredibly unique diversity of tribes, languages, and cultures. We recommend you visit the Old Town neighborhood and the Istiqlal Mosque. Spend the night at the hotel, Alila Jakarta. BORNEO Day 4 - Jakarta → Kumai - (D) Transfer from your hotel in Jakarta to Jakarta Airport for your flight to Borneo. Then, you will have a private transfer from Pangkalan Bun Airport in Borneo to Kumai to board the boat. You will meet the boating team – the boatman, the cook, and your expert guide – who will guide you through this amazing adventure! The boat is a traditional klotok, a wooden river boat called the "African Queen" by many previous visitors. It measures 7.3 by 49 feet and can host up to 5 people. Dinner will be served on the boat, and you’ll spend the night on the klotok boat. Day 5 - Tanjung Puting National Park – Orangutan Exploration Day - (B/L/D) After breakfast aboard the klotok, you and your boating crew will navigate about 2 hours to Camp Leakey, where older orangutans were reintroduced into the rainforest. Camp Leakey is the perfect spot to hike in the rainforest with your expert guide and forestry rangers. You will appreciate the flora, and you will be enchanted by watching wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Then you will stop at PondokTanguy, the former rehabilitation center for ex-captive orangutans. Lunch will be provided on the boat. In the afternoon, you will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans being given additional food. Then, we will navigate back down the river and spend another night on the klotok boat. Day 6 - Tanjung Puting National Park - (B/L/D) There are many interesting trekking trails in the jungle of Tanjung Puting National Park. Today, you can hike deeper into the tropical rainforest of Kalimantan, searching for orangutans and other endemic wildlife of Kalimantan, such as gibbons, red leaf monkeys, deer, and birds. You can also learn how the Dayak tribes survive in the jungle. Our guide team will show you how to identify medicinal plants, poisonous plants, and edible plants. Overnight at the Rimba Lodge. BALI Day 7 - Borneo → Java → Bali (B) Transfer back by klotok to Kumai, by car to Pangkalan Bun Airport, and fly from Borneo to Jakarta. Fly from Jakarta to Denpasar and transfer from Denpasar Airport to your hotel, Puri Mesari, in Sanur. Puri Mesari is a small, family-run hotel with friendly, personalized service in a tranquil environment on the secluded, southern end of Sanur. LOMBOK Day 8 - Sanur → Gili Islands in Lombok (/) Transfer from Sanur to Serangan Harbour. Then you will transfer to Gili Trawangan Islands by BWS speed boat. Take a Cidomo (a small horse-drawn carriage traditionally used in Lombok) from Gili Trawangan Pier to Desa Dunia Beda Beach Resort hotel. Tonight, you will stay at Desa Dunia Beda Beach Resort, an eco-friendly luxury lodge. The resort is a unique and secluded village where you can experience the pleasures of a traditional Indonesian lifestyle combined with caring, personalized service. Each house, appointed in typical Javanese, is elegantly decorated with traditional furnishings and offers a sea view and a private balcony. Night at the Desa Dunia Beda hotel. Day 9 - Gili Trawangan (/) Free Day. You have the whole day to explore on your own. Here are some suggestions: Lombok and the Gili Islands are a tourist’s dream – white sand beaches in every direction, often protected by coral reefs! Many of the older generation of inhabitants of the Gili Islands still make their living as boatmen, fishermen, and coconut farmers. Gili Meno is home to spectacular dive sites, including Meno Wall, Sea Turtle Point, and Blue Coral Point. The island also hosts Lombok's world-class bird park – Gili Meno Bird Park Resort. From Gili Trawangan, you can easily explore the other Gili Islands during the day, rent a bike, scuba dive or snorkel, swim in the island’s clear waters, or just relax on the beach while getting a wonderful massage. Day 10 - Gili Trawangan → Senggigi (/) Transfer by boat from Gili Trawangan to Senggigi, located on the main island of Lombok. Like most of the islands in Indonesia’s archipelago, Lombok centers around a volcano, Mt Rinjani, which reaches 12,224 feet high, making it the country’s third highest volcano. This is your last day in Indonesia. You can take a surf lesson at Senggigi beach, hike around Mt Rinjani, snorkel, go shopping, or just relax on the beach while sipping a delicious Indonesian cocktail. Tonight, you will stay at the Quinci Villas hotel, a beautiful, elegant, and gracious resort in Lombok, and an ideal location for your final day on the island.
