15.1 William Dailey—circa 1765

15.1.1 William Daly was born circa 1765. He married Hannah …. He was buried on the 6th of April, 1836, at Patrick when his age was recorded as 71 years.

15.1.2 William Alexander Dailey (7284) was baptized on the 25th of July, 1802, at Patrick, the son of William Dailey & Hannah. He married firstly Jane Christian on the 13th of February, 1830, at Andreas and secondly Ellen Gale. There is a burial at Maughold on the 7th of April, 1875, when the age was recorded as 63 years. The date fits but the age would appear to be too low at 63 years.

There is a marriage recorded to Elinor Waterson on the 1st of September, 1844, at Maughold.

He was a blacksmith. In 1841 he and his family were living in Johns Street, Ramsey. In 1851 the family were living in College Street, Ramsey. William’s birth place was given as Malew and his wife’s, Ellen, as Arbory. In 1861 the family were living in Curphey’s Lane, Ramsey. William’s birth place wa given as Patrick and his wife’s, Ellen, as Malew. In 1871 the family were living at 11, Maughold Street, Ramsey. William’s birth place is now recorded as German and Ellen’s as Arbory.

15.1.3 Jane Christian (7285) was born circa 1800, probaly at Andreas. She married William Dailey on the 13th of February, 1830, at Andreas. She died circa 1843.

15.1.4 Ellen Gale (7286) was born circa 1804 at Arbory/Malew. She married William Dailey. There is a burial at Maughold on the 30th of August 1883. The date fits but the age appears to be too low at 77 years

In 1881, a widow aged 78, she was living at 24, King Street, Ramsey, with her eldest son and grandchildren.

15.2.1 Anne Dailey (7287) was baptized on the 7th of February, 1830, at Andreas. She married Alexander French on the 14th of June, 1849, at Ramsey. In 1841 she was living with her parents at Johns Street, Ramsey.

15.2.2 John James Dailey (7288) was baptized on the 4th of December, 1831, at Andreas. In 1841 he was living with his parents at Johns Street, Ramsey. in 1851 he was boarding in Parliament Street and apprenticed as a blacksmith.

15.2.3 Catharine Dailey (7289) was baptized on the 10th of September, 1839, at Andreas. In 1841 he was living with his parents at Johns Street, Ramsey.In 1851 she was a house servant to Edward McCauley at Little Cross.

15.2.4 William Dailey (7290) was baptized on the 13th of March, 1839, at Andreas. He was buried at Andreas on the 17th of April, 1921, when his age was recorded as 84 years.

In 1841 he was living with his parents at Johns Street, Ramsey. In 1851 he was living with his father and step–mother in College Street, Ramsey. In 1861 he was living with his father and step–mother in Curphey’s Lane and was employed as a blacksmith.

15.3.1 Joseph Dailey (7291) was baptized on the 22nd of June, 1845, at Ramsey. He married firstly Catherine Christian on the 2nd of September, 1877, at Braddan and secondly Elizabeth Corkish in 1884 at St. Paul, Ramsey, see 5.18.9.

In 1851 he was living with his parents in College Street, Ramsey. In 1861 he was living with his parents in Curphey’s Lane and was employed as a tobacconist. In 1871 he was living with his parents at 11, Maughold Street and was employed as a tobacco spinner. In 1881, a widower, he was living with his mother at 24, King Street, together with his young son Joseph James. At this time he was employed as a mason.

15.3.1.1 Catherine Christian was born circa 1834. She married Joseph Daily circa on the 2nd of September, 1877, at Braddan. She was buried on the 30th of December, 1879, at Braddan when her age was recorded as 45 years.

15.3.2 Margaret Dailey (7292) was born circa 1848. She married Charles Robert Whitcombe on the 29th of September, 1867, at Maughold.

In 1851 she was living with her parents in College Street, Ramsey. In 1861 she was living with her parents in Curphey’s Lane. In 1881 her daughter Edith aged 8 was living with her grand–mother, Ellen, at 24, King Street

15.3.3 Eliza Dailey (7293) was baptized on the 31st of August, 1851, at Ramsey. In 1861 she was living with her parents in Curphey’s Lane. She has not been identified in the 1871 census.

15.4.1 Joseph James Dailey was born on the 11th of February, 1879, at Ramsey. He married Margaret Jane Crebbin on the 25th of April, 1900, at Maughold.

In 1881 he was living with his widowered father at 24, King Street, Ramsey. In 1891 he was living with his father and step–mother at 4, King’s Court. In 1901 he and his wife were living at 3, Bark Lane, Ramsey, when he was employed as an assistant ina fish shop. (Note: the census entry gives his birth place as Douglas.)
