STOCKPORT SCHOOL THE STOCK PRESS

First Steps to a new Partnership with St Cecilia’s School, Ho, Ghana… Mr Williamson spent his Easter holidays visiting St Cecilia’s, a school he had worked with twice before. A charity called Kickstart Ghana are facilitating and developing the projects out in Ghana. We donated 200 School pens which were received by the students with delight as they normally only have pencils. (See bottom picture)

15 students were nominated by their English teachers to write letters to the students out in Ghana. The letters were distributed to students at St Cecilia’s School which prompted 30 return letters. We are now able to invite more students to take part in this project.

The next step is to send more letters out to Ghana and hopefully next year, a group of teachers may be able to go, and further down the line, some students.

We would like to say a very big thankyou to Stockport School parents Phil and Wendy Keen who very kindly donated footballs and Melanie Sadler for the donation of a football kit.

For more information regarding the Ghana partnership or how you could support KickStart Ghana, feel free to contact Mr. Williamson, Director of Intervention

We are delighted to announce that on Thursday 31st March, the staff and students of Stockport School were very proud to be awarded the LPPA award. Over the last 15 months, we have worked hard to engage with our parents in order to better support our students progress and achievement.

The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a national award that provides a coherent framework through which schools and other educational organisations can deliver effective parental engagement. We believe that parental engagement is a powerful lever for raising achievement in schools and there is much research to show the value of schools and parents working together to support pupils’ learning. We began this journey with a vision to work more effectively with our parents to support children’s learning and development thus overall improving pupil progress and achievement.

Well done to everybody who has supported us on this journey – governors, school staff, pupils, community partners, parents and carers.

“We’ve had a pretty eclectic mix of vehicles turning up to Remote Control / Robotics club: from monster trucks to hovercraft and helicopters!”

Many thanks to those who have brought working vehicles and allowed others to have a go. If students out there have any remote control devices that they can demonstrate or let others try we would love to see them, but please first contact Mr. Hardman. Alternatively, if anyone can donate any remote control toys that are broken or no longer used, we would be interested to have them; we have had some success in mixing parts from damaged cars to make working vehicles.

For those who would like to try remote control driving, please watch this space for a competition that anyone can enter.”
