Allocation of places at Stockport Secondary Schools for September 2020 The tables below give an explanation of why your child has not been offered a place at your preferred school(s). The tables indicate how places have been allocated for each school using the published oversubscription criteria. Your child’s application was not reached at the point the school(s) became full to their Published Admission Number. Your child’s name is on the waiting list for each of your preferred schools. Offers of school places will be made to children on the waiting lists if and when places become available at a later stage. A small number of children have not been allocated a place at any of the schools expressed on their application form, in which case, a place has been allocated at the nearest available school with room. This is in line with Stockport’s Published Admissions Policy. So, first things first, what have the Primary Schools been up to since the last publication? Young Carers in Schools Award update Sincere congratulations to Romiley Primary School who have put in some worthwhile work and now earned themselves the impressive Bronze Young Carers in Schools Award. Well done to Emma and the team, very well deserved and here’s to the Silver Award next! We are expecting a further number of Stockport Primary Schools and Secondary Schools to be receiving their awards after the summer break. Good luck to all those who have applied this term, we cannot wait to share your successes! The deadline for this term is the 21st of July. On the 15th of July we took 3 of our Young Carers to Manchester to join to the Young Carers Quality Assurance Panel for the Award. Young Carers have been involved in the development of the Award programme from its first inception 5 years ago and it is important that the voices and opinions of young people remain at the heart of their work. As part of the monitoring and review of the awarding process for schools we have been able to take 3 of our Young Carers to be involved in the 6th ‘Young Carer’s Quality Assurance Panel’. It was a really enjoyable day and it was lovely to see our Young Carers getting involved with the process and sharing their insightful ideas and thoughts.

Date 21 May 2018 Version 1.0 Approved by DF EDUCATION PORTFOLIO OVERVIEW Portfolio Summary The Education Portfolio aims to ensure all children and young people have access to high quality education and training and are supported to fulfil their potential, with a particular focus on reducing inequalities and removing the barriers to educational attainment and skills for the most disadvantaged children, young people and adults. The portfolio delivered a strong performance, despite ongoing government cuts to Local Authority funding. The portfolio contributed a further £0.019m to the Council savings for 2017/18 from an already depleted revenue budget. During 2017/18, the Labour Cabinet agreed to establish a £25m Schools Capital Programme to begin to address the condition and capacity issues facing our schools created by government cuts of £42m to the schools’ capital budget since 2010. A further phase of investment in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities of £14m to create additional SEND Primary places brings the total investment in schools by the Labour Cabinet during 2017/18 to more than £40m. In terms of attainment, this year has seen the following positives: Stockport, along with Trafford, was one of two Greater Manchester local authorities with a positive Progress 8 score. This positive progress should be reflected in an improved Ofsted outcome for schools at re-inspection and the improvement in data is expected to be realised in 2019 and beyond. Stockport had the lowest proportion of schools in Greater Manchester where pupils, on average, made less progress than in England. Additionally, Stockport had the lowest proportion of schools amongst its statistical neighbours where pupils, on average, made less progress than in England.
