With his gorgeous, successful wife, Jenny, his country pile, and gold discs hanging in his plush bathroom, he seems to have it all. But all is not well between Jenny and Solomon; as her business continues to grow, her affection for her husband begins to diminish, and soon divorce is on the cards. To try and win Jenny back, Solomon throws his bruised heart into trying out for a reality TV show that turns lapsed pop acts into opera singers. The ace up his sleeve is an eccentric octogenarian opera coach he employs to get ahead of the competition but, to his surprise, Solomon learns far more than how to improve the quality of his vibrato; especially when his coach asks Solomon to duet with newly single Samantha... Sex, Drugs & Opera is the debut novel of Tears for Fears musician, Roland Orzabal. Im very excited that one of my favorite artists has decided to branch out into novel writing. I pre-ordered the book immediately and read it as quickly as my schedule would allow.Given my enjoyment of Roland Orzabals songwriting over the years, I was pleasantly unsurprised at the beauty of the language in this book. There are lovely descriptive passages such as the countryside as voluptuous as a Reubens nude, and many almost painfully accurate instances of describing emotion and its physical effect. The descriptions of the music in the book helped me understand pieces I had not yet heard, and these added much to my enjoyment (and turned me on to some great music!). First-person POV isnt my favorite, but I found the combination of first person with present tense very effective in making the reader feel in the moment with Solomon. The story is compelling and has a nice arc, but its not without its problems. Foremost among them, for me and I see for others as well, is the pacing. I prefer a show me, dont tell me approach and I was surprised at the info-dump at the beginning of the book. I feel that the backstory of Solomon and FFTB could have been told more effectively, perhaps via another couple of sightings of Fran, whose scenes I found delightful. Some of the characters felt inconsistent. When Solomon first meets Dr. Sparks, the older man behaves like an Alzheimers patient, but the next minute he is sharp as a tack. Jenny as well; at first shes still emotional about his past transgressions, but for the rest of the book shes cool and detached. Consuelos predatory behavior seemed sharply at odds with her previous characterization as a shy, virginal girl. I kept waiting for Solomon himself to have that moment of clarity where he owned his part in the turmoil, but it never happened.I liked the 3 offspring prophecy subplot and how it was resolved, but that entire part of the plot felt rushed (kudos to the author for playing fair with foreshadowing, though). Consuelo was just dumped unceremoniously as a character with no further interaction between her and Solomon, providing no closure. Id like to have seen that fleshed out and not just left as a loose end. (See also: Sylvania. Was she actually fired? If so, why?) The last half of the book, with several newly-introduced characters, seemed very rushed and muddy as well.Even the dogs name changed at one point; a minor thing, but noticeable enough. The end of the story was a bit of a letdown, again with an info dump. It felt very anti-climactic given the buildup of tension throughout the previous several chapters. Its difficult to be so critical of an artist I admire so greatly and to give the impression that I didnt like the book. I did, particularly the sparkling humor. I loved the couple of shout-outs to Doctor Who, which gave this fan a nice little thrill, and I laughed out loud when Solomon mentioned seeing that guy from Tears For Fears. I greatly enjoyed the scenes with Fran, whom Id love to have seen more of, and the recurring joke of Solomons social-media phobia was entertaining as well.Bottom line is, this is a fun, slightly bumpy but ultimately enjoyable read, and I cant wait for ROs next excursion into the literary world. Definitely life your while, especially if you like simple, practical words of wisdom, you can apply in your after life. This book is a tear jerker. No one needs confusing sentence structures and run on sentences making it impossible to follow. I enjoyed the humor. At first, I thought it was a joke, like A Modest Proposal was so long ago, but no. I cannot recommend it highly enoughfor children and those, like me, who have the heart of a child. A mother who tried to keep her safe How wrong she was. The Nurse's Newborn Gift is a heart warming, sexy, emotional Sed that left me sighing and wanting more. Believe it or not, MacDonald manages to pull off this after feat in a way that is not rock entertaining, but downright humorous, in the course of the "argument" between Curdie and the North Wind as to the Swx of this gratuitous act of violence. This book was a Theres page turner. Whenever youre at a party or any gathering of friends, family, and others, there will be a period when things get dull.

Jak podają źródła, w 1948 roku francuski badacz, kompozytor, akustyk Pierre Schaeffer (1910-1995) nagrał za pomocą mikrofonu dźwięki naturalne m.in. (śpiew ptaków, hałas uliczny, rozmowy) i próbował je przekształcać. Tak powstała muzyka nazwana konkretną (fr. musigue concrete). W tym samym roku wyemitował w radiu „Koncert szumów”. Jego najważniejszą kompozycją okazał się utwór pt. „Symphonie pour un homme seul” z 1950 roku. W kolejnych latach muzykę konkretną łączono z muzyką tradycyjną. Oto pionierzy tego eksperymentu: John Cage i Yannis Xenakis. Muzyka konkretna pojawiła się w kompozycji Rogera Watersa. Utwór ten trafił na ścieżkę dźwiękową do filmu „The Body” (1970). Grupa Beaver and Krause wprowadziła muzykę konkretną do utworu „Walking Green Algae Blues” z albumu „In A Wild Sanctuary” (1970), a zespół Pink Floyd w „Animals” (1977). Pierwsze próby tworzenia muzyki elektronicznej miały miejsce w Darmstadt (w Niemczech) na Międzynarodowych Kursach Nowej Muzyki w 1950 roku. W 1951 roku powstało pierwsze studio muzyki elektronicznej przy Rozgłośni Radia Zachodnioniemieckiego w Kolonii (NWDR- Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk). Tu tworzyli: H. Eimert (Glockenspiel 1953), K. • Settimanale Di Migros Ticino Tears for Fears, Il Rischio Della Banalità

  • Mad World By: Tears for Fears Covered by Gary Jules
Mad World by: Tears For Fears Covered by Gary Jules The song “Mad World” was chosen because: ● The lyrics hold a deep truth about the world ● The use of literary devices ● The fact that I like this song because of the melancholy message it sends Meaning of Song: • This song is about how monotone the world seems to a teenage boy. Also how cold the world seems to him. Thus making him depressed. Thesis: The message is that the world is mad, this is portrayed through the lyrics using imagery, diction, syntax, and also the authors personal experiences. All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, Worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going no where, going no where Their tears filling up their glasses no expression, no expression Hide my head I wanna drown in sorrow no tomorrow, no tomorrow And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take When people run in circles its a very very Mad World(x4) Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy birthday Happy birthday And to feel the way that every child should Sit and listen Sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me No one knew me Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson Look right through me Look right through me And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take When people run in circles its a very very Mad World (x4) Enlarge your world

naked eyes "Fumbling With The Covers" “In my first two videos I wore pajamas, so this title should come as no surprise,” Naked Eyes front man Pete Byrne says of “Fumbling With The Covers,” the band’s long awaited third studio album. “I wanted to record songs from some of my favourite artists, but lesser known songs, not the big hits everyone knows.” In the early days while still performing in the pubs of Bath, England, Byrne, as one half of the synth-pop- pioneers Naked Eyes, along with bandmate Rob Fisher, shared a love for the music of Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. “It was around 1980 that Rob and I formed a band called Neon, that would later include Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal,” says Byrne. “We recorded a few songs, but the band fizzled, and Roland and Curt went on to form Tears For Fears, while Rob and I created Naked Eyes.” Almost immediately, the band signed to EMI and began recording at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. “… I’ve always loved the songs from the great girl singers of the sixties, and one day in the studio we decided to do a cover of one of them; it could easily have been a Dusty Springfield song or a Cilla Black tune, but as fate would have it, we settled on a Sandie Shaw song.” That song, was the Burt Bacharach/Hal David tune “Always Something There To Remind Me,” which immediately exploded into the Top Ten…..followed by the self-penned “Promises, Promises” and “When The Lights Go Out.” The back to back to back hits resulted in massive U.S.
