MI Downing Monthly Income Fund Market commentary July 2017 In June, the MSCI UK All Cap Total Return Index fell 2.57% while the Fund fell 2.34%. Key contributors to the portfolio throughout the month were Sprue Aegis (up 16.47%), Polar Capital Holdings (up 9.87%) and Caretech Holdings (up 7.79%). Key detractors included Crest Nicholson (down 17.10%) and Conviviality (down 9.94%). Sprue Aegis, one of Europe’s leading developers and suppliers of home safety products, announced a positive start to the year in their June AGM statement. They expect a strong return to profitability in the first half of 2017 and with manufacturing and distribution arrangements progressing well, they believe they are well positioned to deliver a full-year adjusted operating profit in line with market expectations. Polar Capital released good group results for the period ended 31 March 2017 with assets under management increasing 27% from £7.3 billion to £9.3 billion. The results highlighted that co-founder of the business, Tim Woolley, will be standing down from his CEO role in July, although he will remain with the company as a non-executive member of the board. Gavin Rochussen will join the board as new CEO, bringing his experience as a CEO in asset management and track record in developing an institutional business and building a significant presence in North America. Caretech, a provider of specialist social care services in the UK, announced positive interim results in June for the six months ending 31 March 2017. Highlights included their acquisitions of Beacon Reach (a centre offering residential care and education to children) and Selborne Care (a centre providing support for adults with learning disabilities) after raising £37 million from a share placing in March. -

INVESTMENT MARKET COMMENTARY For the Period 1 October – 31 December 2020 PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL APAM Ltd 3 Barrett Street London W1U 1AY T: 0207 963 8858 | E: | W: www.apamuk.com [email protected] As at 6 January 2021 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY On Christmas Eve 2020, the UK and EU agreed a trade deal, ahead of the end of the transition period in January 2021. The deal has been referred to as a framework, with key issues such as financial services, to continue to be debated in the New Year. Yet, the deal represents a key moment in the UK’s exit from the bloc and assuages any concerns over the damaging effects of crashing out in a no-deal scenario. In certain areas, such as tax and state aid, the UK and EU have agreed high level commonality in rules but have not yet fleshed out the details. In other areas, such as farming, the UK has accepted greater friction in trade with the EU in order to assure the flexibility to strike deals with the rest of the world. With the conclusion of the EU trade deal and a separate deal with Turkey, the UK has now signed 62 trade agreements since it left the European Union. The markets have responded positively to the UK’s progress as it endeavours to redefine itself as a forward-thinking green tech hub in the post-Brexit world. After emerging from a month-long lockdown, the UK successfully approved and administered the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine. Markets rallied on the news with the MSCI All-Country World Index climbing by a record 12.2% in November, followed by a correction on 21 December after the discovery of a variant strain of the virus and the imposition of a strict lockdown which is expected to last until February. -

Annual Report 2015/16 Purpose The aim of the Foundation is: ‘the advancement of education of the public directed towards the promotion, furtherance and dissemination of knowledge of matters associated with the built environment’. We pursue these, where possible, with an emphasis on ‘the multi‐disciplinary nature of design in engineering and architecture’. Chairman’s Statement The year 2015-16 has been very busy with both extensions of existing projects and developing ideas for new and potential projects. Inevitably not all the work developing projects is successful, but when it is it can be the result of many months of work. As well as activities that we have funded (listed at the end of this statement); we were very pleased to be able to extend MADE’s work again for the outstanding educational programme they are providing to make young people aware of a career in the Built Environment professions. We have agreed two other small projects and an agreement to part sponsor an Academic in Residence at the Institution of Civil Engineers to help inform decision making for global solutions. Our financial position is strong, in spite of the continuing economic pressures, and we enter the next year with confidence in continuing the pattern of supporting both short and long term projects. This year we held a Strategic Discussion workshop for about 50 invited guests: The Next 25 Years of The Ove Arup Foundation and we wish to thank everyone who attended for the valuable contributions that they made to make this day a success. We have prepared a report on the discussions and we will be developing and implementing the ideas in the immediate future. -

Our Fellowship draws on the full range of the human experience – from politics to art, and economics to philosophy. The Future of the Corporation programme could not be a better example of the Academy’s work and its ability to draw on such a wide range of ideas. With this new report, the Academy is setting out the conclusions of our Future of the Corporation research and its extensive deliberations. The programme has made new connections, encouraged debate and developed new insights. By engaging a range of experts, practitioners and leaders from different parts of society and different disciplines, it has been able to bring a comprehensive view of the role of business in society. The Academy’s aim in this is not to make prescriptions or advise business on answers to their specific questions. Rather, by laying out an evidence-base and a set of principles we aim to provide a framework for others to build on. We hope that business leaders and their advisers will use this framework as a starting point to develop new practices, lawmakers as a basis for consultation on legal changes, researchers as a rationale for further research on purposeful business and teachers as a foundation for curricula to provide the new skills needed. -

Edinburgh Tram Inquiry Glossary – 28 August 2017 Purpose 1. The subject matter of the Inquiry involves a large number of acronyms (ie TIE), instances of specialist terminology (ie pre-qualification) and the use of fact specific references (ie Project Carlisle). 2. This obviously presents a challenge to the Inquiry team and to the Core Participants both in understanding what is going on and ensuring a minimum of consistency in the use of acronyms or certain words. The glossary provides some assistance to all in understanding core terms. 3. Parties should bear in mind that some acronyms or terms may be used by different parties to refer to different things (ie FM is used to mean both First Minister and Functional Manager). Where this occurs, the exact meaning will depend on the context and users of this glossary should take steps to clarify the meaning intended in that context. 4. This glossary: a. Can be searched by hitting the Ctrl and F keys and then entering the desired term; and b. Contains a number of internal links between related entries which can be clicked upon. Central London Development Pipeline Q2 2017 Development Completions - As at Q2 2017, there is 9.45m sq ft of available space under construction across Central London. 1.32 million sq ft of office space completed in Q2 2017, adding 710,000 sq ft of available office space to the market. - For future 2017 development completions, 49% of the space is prelet, rising to 55% for 2018. - 10% of space has been prelet for 2019 completions, the low figure being largely the result of the commencement of 22 Bishopsgate adding 1.275m sq ft of availability to the market. - Total take-up by prelets in Q2 2017 equalled 520,000 sq ft, 17 % of total take-up in the quarter. The largest prelet of the quarter was to WeWork at Two Southbank Place, taking 280,000 sq ft. In the third largest letting of the quarter, NEX took 120,000 sq ft at London Fruit & Wool Exchange.
