FA CUP 3RD QF ROUND TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2020 WIMBORNE TOWN FC VS MAIDSTONE UNITED from the Directors Box ONLINE PROGRAMME FA CUP 3RD QF ROUND TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2020 WIMBORNE TOWN FC VS MAIDSTONE UNITED From the Directors Box Good evening and a warm welcome to Cuthbury to our visitors from Maid- stone United. We extend our hospitality to the visiting officials. players, staff and supporters and hope that you enjoy your time with us and have a safe journey home. Tonight, we play Maidstone United who are in the National League South which one level above us. They are in fifth position in their league after they drew on Saturday against Havant and Waterlooville. This is the furthest we have been in the F.A. Cup for 28 years, so with the great supporters we have cheering us on let us see if we can progress further! Last Tuesday we played Farnborough and with a good overall performance the second half saw us secure 2 goals giving us a 2-1 win giving us a well-earned 3 points. Our man of the match was Aidan Shepherd who was our double goal scorer. Well done Aidan! So hopefully the boys can turn in a good performance again as they did for that game. We did not have a game on Saturday so after a good break let us look forward to a good entertaining game against this higher league side. With a bigger crowd expected for this match please remember all the safety guidelines in place and be extra cautious in keeping your distance and wear masks when moving around. It is with great sadness that we announce that Steve Harvey ex-chairman of Hamworthy United F.C. and a former board member here at Wimborne has sadly died. We as a club extend our condolences to Steve’s family and all at Hamworthy United. Hoping the weather is kind to us and we can all enjoy this evenings game. Over the years we've had some great games and its good to see our friends from their Committee, Management Team and supporters . On the pitch we've had a pretty good run . Wins over Beckenham Town and Erith & Belvedere in the league were soured by a shocking display at Sheppey in the FA Cup. Last week we went to Guildford in the FA Vase and recorded a 3-0 win . We played really well for large parts of the match and hopefully we can maintain that sort of form. In the last couple of weeks both Manager Peter Sweeney and Assistant Phil Wilson have left the club. I’d like to thank them for the efforts put in over the last few months and wish them success in the future. I've been covering the dug-out ably assisted by Scott Kinch for the last couple of matches . I'm thoroughly enjoying my ‘temporary’ stay and the players have been fantastic to work with . Without advertising, I've have been inundated with applicants for the Manager's role.
