  • List of Horse Breeds 1 List of Horse Breeds
List of horse breeds 1 List of horse breeds This page is a list of horse and pony breeds, and also includes terms used to describe types of horse that are not breeds but are commonly mistaken for breeds. While there is no scientifically accepted definition of the term "breed,"[1] a breed is defined generally as having distinct true-breeding characteristics over a number of generations; its members may be called "purebred". In most cases, bloodlines of horse breeds are recorded with a breed registry. However, in horses, the concept is somewhat flexible, as open stud books are created for developing horse breeds that are not yet fully true-breeding. Registries also are considered the authority as to whether a given breed is listed as Light or saddle horse breeds a "horse" or a "pony". There are also a number of "color breed", sport horse, and gaited horse registries for horses with various phenotypes or other traits, which admit any animal fitting a given set of physical characteristics, even if there is little or no evidence of the trait being a true-breeding characteristic. Other recording entities or specialty organizations may recognize horses from multiple breeds, thus, for the purposes of this article, such animals are classified as a "type" rather than a "breed". The breeds and types listed here are those that already have a Wikipedia article. For a more extensive list, see the List of all horse breeds in DAD-IS. Heavy or draft horse breeds For additional information, see horse breed, horse breeding and the individual articles listed below.

Tutkimukseni tavoitteena on tarkastella erilaisia diskursseja, joita liitetään tarantellaan

Midwest Fjord Horse Club www.mwfhc.org summer 2007 President’s Message ello all you Midwest Fjord Club members! May how time has flown. This is my last article as President of our merry band and I must admit that I have had a blast serving. Fjord owners in general are nice folks but those Hof the Midwest Club are a definitely a cut above the rest. We have seen a busy two years. Ones that have seen the club continue to grow and prosper. We always seem to have a great deal of work ahead but it is, and always has been, good honest work. The kind that makes you feel good at the end of the day. The new Executive Committee will be a good one with lots of experience and leadership under its belt. Look for more good things to come. I only ask that you support and stand behind Suzie as you have me. It makes a great deal of difference when the going gets rough. Well, that's enough foolishness for now. Time to sign off and head to the barn. Blue Earth will be here before you know it. Chuck Kelly, President Lois and Viggo’s Excellent Adventure by Lois Handel 2007 BuffaloTrip him part way over it, then jumped in and made him finish it himself. That was ok. e started out on a beautiful, sunny but cool day. I left home (near Isanti, MN) around 10am, We wandered along at a plenty of time to cover the 25 miles to Sand better, slower pace after WDunes Forestry and Horse camp.

Up till now, the complexity of the characters and the wise webbing of the drama, scattered of symbolic moments, widening its study, are the cause of divergent interpretations by the scholars. An example, exemplifying for all the discussions, could be the famous problem of Ibsen’s “feminism”. In the chapter “The poetry of feminism” in her book Ibsen’s women the American scholar Joan Templeton (2001) tries to say a definitive word about the sense to attribute to the drama. She quotes an impressive series of evidences with great accuracy, coming not only from works, but also from specific events and stands of which Ibsen was protagonist, to be opposed to only one point in favour of the detractors of the feminist vision about A Doll’s House .

  • The Norwegian Fjord: a Horse for All Ages
The Norwegian Fjord: A Horse for All Ages By Melanie Huggett “The eyes should be like the mountain lakes on a midsummer evening, big and bright. A bold bearing of the neck like a lad from the mountains on his way to his beloved. Well-defined withers like the contours of the mountains set against an evening sky. The temperament as lively as a waterfall in spring, and still good natured.” – Norwegian description of the Fjord horse The Norwegian Fjord is considered one of the oldest pure breeds of horse. While they bear a striking resemblance to the Asiatic wild horse or Przewalski horse, they are in fact more closely related to the European wild horse, the Tarpan, as the Przewalski horse has 66 chromosomes while both the Fjord and the Tarpan have 64. It is believed that the original Fjord horse migrated to Norway and was domesticated over 4000 years ago. Archeological evidence suggests that the Fjord horse has been selectively bred for over 2000 years, first by the Vikings around 1200 BC. Rune stone carvings in Norway, many of fighting stallions, show images of horses recognizable as Fjords. The Vikings took their Fjords, which they used as war mounts, in their travels to Scotland, Iceland, and elsewhere. In these lands the Fjord influenced the Highland Pony and the Icelandic Horse. The myth that Fjords are only plodding draft horses could not be farther from the truth! Maggie Sullivan competes with Riena, a mare from Beaver Dam Farm Fjords of Nova Scotia. Father Fjord From the Vikings’ horses of war, the Fjord evolved into a working farm horse The late 1800s nearly spelled the end for the Fjord horse when the Fjord for Norwegian farmers in the breed was crossbred with another of Norway’s three breeds, the Dole.
