The King's concept in this album is a brave part of ourselves: one that we must cultivate to become strong and rise again from this dark age. He is the only positive figure in this story - a man who has integrity and love for the values and truth that we should all hope for ourselves. All characters in court represent fears that can lead us to make things worse. They are trying to influence the king's decisions in their own interests and hope for the loss of power, regardless of the suffering they are going to create for their own peace and people. I examine three significant roles – musicians, audiences, and mediators, and focus on the interaction between the localized Chinese metal scene and metal globalization. This thesis project uses multiple methods, including textual analysis, observation, surveys, and in-depth interviews. In this thesis, I illustrate an image of the Chinese metal scene, present the characteristics and the development of metal musicians, fans, and mediators in China, discuss their contributions to scene’s construction, and analyze various internal and external factors that influence the localization of metal in China. After that, I argue that the development and the localization of the metal scene in China goes through three stages, the emerging stage (1988-1996), the underground stage (1997-2005), the indie stage (2006-present), with Chinese characteristics.
