Basics

DESIGN ARGUMENT

The universe and world are so intricately made that it could not have happened by chance, therefore there must be a creator and that creator is God.

Strength Weakness It is observable Evolution seems more likely than God and chance. Why is there so much suffering in the world? Is the order we experience really there or do we create it?

FIRST CAUSE ARGUMENT

 Everything that exists must have a cause.  The universe exists so it must have a cause.  There had to be something eternal that was not caused by anything.  The eternal first cause is God  Therefore God exists.

Strength Weakness It is observable Contradictory If God is eternal then why couldn’t the universe? Why does the universe have to have a cause?

ARGUMENT FROM

If there is no scientific explanation for an event like a miracle, then it must be , caused by something outside nature. God is outside of nature therefore God exists.

Strength Weakness Show a traditional view of God Are they not more than coincidences? Could there be an undiscovered scientific explanation? Some miracles are fake.

REVELATION

The way in which God can reveal himself to people. There are two types: special revelation and general revelation.

Special revelation includes visions and enlightenment while general revelation refers to the way in which God is revealed through nature and the scriptures.
