She served as a school library media specialist and district library administrator for the El Paso (Texas) Public Schools. For three years, Dr. Haynes was a library media specialist for the Texas Education Agency. In 1998, she joined the faculty of the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at The University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Haynes became the Director of SLIS in July 2013. She has served on numerous committees throughout the university and has written a variety of publications. Stephen Cunetto, Administrator of Systems at Mississippi State University (MSU) Libraries, earned his B.S. in Communication at MSU and his Masters in Library and Information Science at The University of Southern Mississippi in 2006. As the Administrator of Systems, he provides strategic direction, oversight, and maintenance of the libraries’ technological infrastructure and technology services. He manages and provides direction for several departments including Access Services, Instructional Media Center, Systems, Web Services, Digital Preservation and Access Unit, and the Charles Templeton Music Museum. Other responsibilities include serving as the Dr. Haynes has served as a member of, and the chair director of the Mississippi Library Partnership, a of, the University Academic Council, as a member of consortium of 53 academic, public and school Faculty Senate, and as a member of the University libraries, managing the Mississippi Academic Library Priorities Committee.     1 The complex and well-told mysteries of The Roy Stover Series by Philip Bartlett A review by David M. Baumann September 22-October 31, 2018 3,928 words series book friend has the admirable habit of giving me some of his extras now and then. He enjoys sharing some of the books he likes or introducing me to a series I hadn’t heard A about before. Two or three years ago he gave me a copy of a book published in 1929 called The Lakeport Bank Mystery. It sat on my shelf unread, waiting for an opportune time. A couple of years later he sent me the second book in the series, also published in 1929. It’s called The Mystery of the Snowbound Express. I set it alongside the first book, and for a few months their once-bright, now slightly faded orange spines attracted my glance as they rested at eye level in a bookcase I pass often. Finally, I took the first volume down to read it. Within a couple of chapters I knew that I had been launched into a topnotch story very well told. Like an ingot of Swiss chocolate among a sampling of Hershey bars, it stood out from the crowd of what was commonly and acceptably enjoyable, and opened my eyes with the unanticipated pleasure of recognizing high quality distinctiveness. “If the other books in this series are as good as this one,” I said to myself with an air of self-appointed connoisseurship, “then I owe my friend an unpayable debt of gratitude for introducing me to a set of stories of singular excellence.” Or words to that effect.

Dixon] van het Stratemeyer Concern. Zijn dochter, Harriet Stratemeyer Adams nam later de uitgeverij over en claimde lange tijd de schrijver te zijn van àlle Nancy Drew-verhalen vanaf 1930 tot 1982. Merten Kai / What Literature Knows This volume sheds light on the nexus between knowledge and literature. Arranged What Literature Knows historically, contributions address both popular and canonical English and Antje Kley US-American writing from the early modern period to the present. They focus on how historically specific texts engage with epistemological questions in relation to Forays into Literary Knowledge Production material and social forms as well as representation. The authors discuss literature as a culturally embedded form of knowledge production in its own right, which deploys narrative and poetic means of exploration to establish an independent and sometimes dissident archive. The worlds that imaginary texts project are shown to open up alternative perspectives to be reckoned with in the academic articulation and public discussion of issues in economics and the sciences, identity formation and wellbeing, legal rationale and political decision-making. What Literature Knows The Editors Antje Kley is professor of American Literary Studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. Her research interests focus on aesthetic forms and cultural functions of narrative, both autobiographical and fictional, in changing media environments between the eighteenth century and the present. Kai Merten is professor of British Literature at the University of Erfurt, Germany. His research focuses on contemporary poetry in English, Romantic culture in Britain as well as on questions of mediality in British literature and Postcolonial Studies. The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene was to set the tone of juvenile adventure stories that is still leading young folks into the joys of reading the standard classics of literature. Carolyn Keene has been writing the series books chronicling the adventures of Nancy Drew and the Dana Girls since 1929. With over 175 titles published, the author is still going strong, presently producing over fifteen new books each year. Her titles have been translated into at least twelve different lan­ guages, and sales records state that the volumes sold number in the hundreds of millions. More than the mystery of the endurance of such unlikely literature is the question of who Carolyn Keene is and how one person could possibly be the author of such a record number of "best-sellers." Numerous literary histories offer conflicting information concerning the life of Ms Keene. The one common fact is that there exists no actual person by that name. Carolyn Keene is a pseudonym for the author of the series books. Carolyn Keene was Edward Stratemeyer. Another source says that she was Harriet Adams. Yet others say that she was Edna Squire, Walter Karig, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrad, Margaret Scherf, Grace Grote, and a plethora of others.
