The Commission found reason to believe that respondents David J. Pecker and American Media, Inc. knowingly and willfully violated 52 U.S.C. § 30118(a). The Factual and Legal Analysis, which formed a basis for the Commission’s finding, is enclosed for your information. On May 17, 2021, a conciliation agreement signed by A360 Media, LLC, as successor in interest to American Media, Inc. was accepted by the Commission and the Commission closed the file as to Pecker and American Media, Inc. A copy of the conciliation agreement is enclosed for your information. There were an insufficient number of votes to find reason to believe that the remaining respondents violated the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the “Act”). Accordingly, on May 20, 2021, the Commission closed the file in MUR 7324. A Statement of Reasons providing a basis for the Commission’s decision will follow. Documents related to the case will be placed on the public record within 30 days. See Disclosure of Certain Documents in Enforcement and Other Matters, 81 Fed. Overleden: 1982 Zoals veel juniorenmysteries, is de Nancy Drew-serie bedacht en werd (althans in het begin) de plot geschetst door Edward Stratemeyer [> Franklin W. Dixon] van het Stratemeyer Concern. Zijn dochter, Harriet Stratemeyer Adams nam later de uitgeverij over en claimde lange tijd de schrijver te zijn van àlle Nancy Drew-verhalen vanaf 1930 tot 1982. Onderzoek bracht aan het licht dat dit niet het geval was. De Nancy-verhalen werden, evenals andere Stratemeyer-series, geschreven door een aantal voorheen anonieme professionele schrijvers, waarvan de belangrijkste Mildred A. Abstract MERRILL, ASHLEY CHRISTINE. The Evolution of Nancy Drew, Cultural Icon: Readers, Writers, and Fanfiction Authors. (Under the direction of Mary Helen Thuente.) Nancy Drew is widely recognized as an influential American cultural icon. In this paper I make a detailed examination of Nancy's initial characterization as girl sleuth in the first ten books of the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories, published in the 1930s. I spend another chapter examining the initial volumes of later Nancy Drew series books, specifically the 1960s rewritten texts, the 1980s-90s Nancy Drew Files series, and the contemporary Girl Detective series. My penultimate chapter discusses Nancy Drew as realized in fanfiction, or stories written by readers and fans. My emphasis is on explaining Nancy's appeal as a cultural icon and the ways fanfiction authors reinvent and appropriate that icon for their own purposes in stories. To this end I cite fanfic writers and readers' response to why they read and write Nancy Drew fanfiction, and I analyze the content and function of a sample of stories written by Nancy Drew fans. I conclude that Nancy's appeal and the basis of her status as cultural icon is due to her unique nature as a figure frozen in transition between adolescence and adulthood, along with her more conventionally admirable traits. Her Everygirl appearance when removed from that unique matrix makes her extremely adaptable to readers for their own purposes, both within the context of fanfiction and without. Merten Kai / What Literature Knows This volume sheds light on the nexus between knowledge and literature. Arranged What Literature Knows historically, contributions address both popular and canonical English and Antje Kley US-American writing from the early modern period to the present. They focus on how historically specific texts engage with epistemological questions in relation to Forays into Literary Knowledge Production material and social forms as well as representation. The authors discuss literature as a culturally embedded form of knowledge production in its own right, which deploys narrative and poetic means of exploration to establish an independent and sometimes dissident archive. The worlds that imaginary texts project are shown to open up alternative perspectives to be reckoned with in the academic articulation and public discussion of issues in economics and the sciences, identity formation and wellbeing, legal rationale and political decision-making. What Literature Knows The Editors Antje Kley is professor of American Literary Studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. Her research interests focus on aesthetic forms and cultural functions of narrative, both autobiographical and fictional, in changing media environments between the eighteenth century and the present. Kai Merten is professor of British Literature at the University of Erfurt, Germany. His research focuses on contemporary poetry in English, Romantic culture in Britain as well as on questions of mediality in British literature and Postcolonial Studies. He is also the founder of the Erfurt Network on New Materialism. -

Drew Interview: Author Melanie Rehak on Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her, Interviewed by Jennifer Fisher Page 8 A mystery solved! The mystery behind Nancy Drew and her creators is defined in Melanie Rehak’s new book, Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women who Created Her. A revealing look at Stratemeyer Syndicate history, Rehak waxes nostalgically about the two women who had the most influence upon Nancy Drew: Mildred Wirt Benson and Harriet Stratemeyer Adams. Focusing on these two pioneering women and feminist history, she traces Nancy, Mildred, and Harriet’s footsteps through the decades and how each of them ultimately contributed to the popularity of America’s favorite teen sleuth. JF: Describe Nancy Drew in 5 words or less. MR: Resourceful, glamorous, classy, intelligent and bold. JF: What intrigued you in writing about Nancy Drew and her creators? MR: Of course I've loved Nancy since I read about her adventures as a child, so a chance to learn more about the teen detective was really appealing. Finding out that there were real-life women behind her, whose lives were in some ways as ground-breaking as Nancy's, only made her more interesting to me. I was amazed to learn that behind her fictional intrepid spirit, true struggles with power and independence were lurking. Also, the fact that these books were brought out by an organization that was made completely of women fascinated me. Even now that's rare, but certainly in the 30s and 40s it was practically unheard of. JF: Did you discover any interesting information that really stood out that most people wouldn't have a clue about in your research at the NYPL? MR: Yes, I did. -

Bill's independent writing consists of the computer programs, documentation, and technical manuals he wrote in his previous incarnation as a systems analyst—he didn't think you'd be interested in that stuff. Currently, I am writing a book which focuses on the history of Nancy Drew. A biography on the original "Carolyn Keene," Mildred Wirt Benson, is in the works. While this website is a good introduction into the world of Nancy Drew, you will find in-depth analysis of all things Drew in my upcoming book. One of the earliest book related collectibles is the Nancy Drew Mystery Game issued by Parker Brothers in 1957. -
