  • Doyle Bramhall II Is One of the Most Distinctive Vocalists, Guitarists
Doyle Bramhall II is one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Indeed, none other than Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall has worked with for more than a decade, lauds him as one of the most gifted guitarists he has ever encountered. As the son of the late Texas music legend Doyle Bramhall, he was raised in a home filled with the blues and rock ’n’ roll styles indigenous to Texas. The elder Bramhall played drums and was also an accomplished songwriter and vocalist, not to mention a lifelong collaborator with childhood friends Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan, who composed such SRV signature tunes as “Change It” and “Life by the Drop.” But the younger Bramhall—a rare and distinctive guitarist who plays left-handed, but with his instrument strung for a right-hander and flipped backwards--had his own connections with the Vaughan brothers: Early in his career he was befriended and supported by Stevie. When he was 18, Bramhall was recruited by Jimmie to play with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. After Stevie’s tragic death in 1990, Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton formed the Arc Angels with Stevie Ray’s fabled Double Trouble rhythm section of drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. The Arc Angels’ self-titled debut album yielded such widely popular songs as “Living in a Dream” and “Sent by Angels” before disbanding. Introducing himself as a solo artist in 1996 with Doyle Bramhall II, he followed with a pair of critically acclaimed albums, Jellycream(1999) and Welcome (2001). It was then that Bramhall’s unparalleled guitar mastery won the attention not only of Clapton but Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, who showcased him on his 1999, 2000 and 2002 In the Flesh concert tours and companion CD and DVD.

  • What Is It About Doyle Bramhall II, and Why Does Everybody Want to Work
What is it about Doyle Bramhall II, and why does everybody want to work with him? Since 2000, the uniquely gifted guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer has been practically joined to Eric Clapton’s hip as both an onstage and studio collaborator. In addition to Slowhand, other music greats have sought Bramhall’s distinctive talents: Roger Waters, T-Bone Burnett, Elton John, Gregg Allman, Allen Toussaint, Sheryl Crow, Billy Preston, Dr. John, Michael McDonald, Erykah Badu, Questlove, Meshell Ndegeocello – as it’s often said, the list goes on and on. So what is it about this dynamic, multi-faceted performer – a southpaw who plays his guitar turned upside-down and strung righty, no less – that makes him the first-call pick for music stars of virtually every modern genre? “I don’t know if I can answer that,” Bramhall says sheepishly. “Without appearing immodest, I can admit that I’ve led a pretty charmed life. One musical experience flowed into the next, and over time I’ve been able to work with so many people I’ve admired and who influenced me. If I can point to one thing, I think it’s because I immerse myself in the spirit of collaboration. I really want to understand where somebody else is coming from, and that makes me support and enhance what they’re doing. Perhaps that’s why other people want me to play with them.” He lets out a laugh and says, “Nobody’s ever really told me why!” Bramhall grew up in Austin, Texas with music coursing through his blood.

See the full gallery. A rock singer touring England gets involved with a wealthy teenage heiress in London. Turns out the girl's uncle is trying to steal her money, putting her life in danger, and is also involved in a jewel smuggling operation. Written by frankfob2 yahoo. Elvis Presley was a hugely influential performer with one of the most distinctive singing voices of anybody. He embarked on a film career consisting of 33 films from tofilms that did well at the box-office but mostly panned critically especially his later films and while he was a highly charismatic performer he was never considered a Double Trouble actor. It was from 'Kissin' Cousins', his first real mediocre at best effort, onward when his films became hit and miss or worse. While Elvis certainly did worse, like 'Harum Scarum', 'Double Trouble' generally is down there with his weakest. Regarding Elvis Double Trouble, there is more of the relaxed charisma and the enthusiastic charm than in most of his output most of which he looked utterly disinterested inthe role really doesn't require much but he does his best and while he has looked in better shape he still sounds good. A few Double Trouble the songs are decent, "Long Legged Girl" is the best of the lot and for a song from an Elvis film from this period is good.

  • Charlie Sexton: Too Many Ways to Fall Jason Crouch
20 Charlie Sexton: Too Many Ways to Fall Jason Crouch Charlie Sexton at Antone’s, Austin, 2008. Photo by Tracy Anne Hart www.theheightsgallery.com Charlie Sexton’s story reads like the quintessential Texas music fable: raw talent and sheer determination tempered by frustration and missed opportunities, much of it lived in the public eye. Sexton’s career began as child prodigy guitarist in the Austin music scene, fostered by some of the most celebrated artists there. He became an international heartthrob in his teens, struggled with major label woes, and rubbed elbows and performed with jet-setting rock stars. 21 He searched for his lyrical voice and found success in the recording studio as an acclaimed producer. The journey has been costly in many regards, but at this point in his life, Charlie Sexton is the essence of the Austin music scene distilled in one career and man. More than thirty-five years into his career, Sexton remains a vital guitarist, a commanding vocalist, and, now, an in-demand producer. Charles Wayne Sexton was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 11, 1968, to Kay and Mike Sexton. A day short of his second birthday his brother, Will, was born. By 1972, Kay had moved with her two sons to Austin. He received his first guitar when he was about two years of age. “Before my brother was born, my mom and dad took a trip on the train. They went to San Diego, and they left me with my aunt. They were actually going to hitchhike to Altamont.
