Frozen, Jr Monologues and Audition Songs FROZEN, JR MONOLOGUES AND AUDITION SONGS ELSA: (ANNA rushes in to request ELSA’s blessing to marry HANS) Marriage? May I speak with you alone please, Anna? All right. You can't marry a man you just met. What do you know about true love? (rattled by ANNA’s anger) You asked me for my blessing, but my answer is no. (to the CASTLE STAFF) The party is over. Close the gates. “Let It Go” It’s time to see what I can do, to test the limits and break through. No right, no wrong, no rules for me. I’m free! Let it go! Let it go! I am one with the wind and sky. Let it go! Let it go! You’ll never see me cry. Here I stand, and here I’ll stay. Let the storm rage on. YOUNG ELSA: (after being put to bed for the night by the QUEEN IDUNA/KING AGNARR. To ANNA who wants to play instead of sleep..) We’re supposed to be sleeping--- (ANNA wants to play) Okay. Okay. You know there’s a recipe to making a proper snowman. “General - Let It Go” Let it go, let it go, and we’ll rise like the break of dawn. Let it go, let it go. The fear and cold are gone. Here we stand in the light of day. Let our true love grow. Let it go. ANNA: (After bumping HANS and seeing him for the first time) Oh, I'm sorry. So sorry… (smitten) Hi. (after KRISTOFF tries to wedge in between them) Goodness. That was awkward. Not that you're awkward, but just because we're -- I'm awkward. You're gorgeous. Wait, what? (HANS introduces himself, ANNA curtsies and then remembers to introduce herself) Oh, Princess Anna of Arendelle. “For the First Time in Forever” What if I meet THE one? Tonight, imagine me gown and all, fetchingly draped against the wall, the picture of sophisticated grace. I suddenly see him standing there, a beautiful stranger, tall and fair. I wanna stuff some choc’late in my face! But then we laugh and talk all evening, which is totally bizarre, nothing like the life I've led so far! For the first time in forever. There'll be magic, there'll be fun! For the first time in forever, I could be noticed by someone. And I know it is totally crazy to dream I'd find romance. But for the first time in forever, at least I've got a chance! YOUNG ANNA: (after being put to bed for the night by the QUEEN IDUNA/KING AGNARR) They're gone! It's just us! Snowman. Snowman. Snowman!!! (YOUNG ELSA tells ANNA to go to sleep) But the sky's awake, so I'm awake, so we have to play! “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” - Do you want to build a snowman? Come on, let’s go and play. I never see you anymore. Come out the door. It’s like you’ve gone away. We used to be best buddies and now we’re not. I wish you would tell me why. Do you want to build a snowman. It doesn’t have to be a snowman. OLAF: (upon seeing ANNA, KRISTOFF, SVEN for the first time) Okay. Let's start this thing over. Hi everyone, I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs. And who’s the funky-looking donkey? (referring to KRISTOFF. ANNA assumes he’s referring to SVEN and replies “Sven”) Ah-huh. And who’s the reindeer? (referring to SVEN. ANNA also replies “Sven…” confused) Oh good. They're both Sven. Makes it easier for me. And you’re Anna. “In Summer” A drink in my hand, my snow up against the burning sand, prob’ly getting gorgeously tanned in summer. I’ll fin’lly see a summer breeze blow a way a winter storm and find out what happens to solid water when it gets warm. And I can’t wait to see what my buddies all think of me. Just imagine how much cooler I’ll be in summer! KRISTOFF: (irritated when Anna bumps him and causes him to drop his ice) Hey, my ice! (smittenly towards Anna after seeing her for the first time) Hi… (after being ignored by ANNA) Come on Sven. Let’s go. (calling out) Ice! Nice, fresh ice! “Reindeer are Better Than People” Reindeers are better than people. Sven, don’t you think that’s true? Thanks, buddy. But people smell better than reindeers. Sven, don’t you think I’m right? You got me. Let’s call it a night. Don't let the frostbite bite. SVEN: (ANNA slams into HANS, creating a domino effect in which they knock the ice bag out of KRISTOFF’s hands. KRISTOFF and SVEN are irritated. KRISTOFF yells “Hey, my ice!”) Yeah, his ice! (SVEN sniffs HANS, butting him with his antlers. KRISTOFF says “Come on, Sven, Let’s go”) You got it, Kristoff “Reindeer are Better Than People” Yeah, people defeat you and curse you and cheat you. Ev’ry one of ‘em’s bad, except you. That’s once again true, for all except you. Good night. Don’t let the frostbite bite. Rooh! HANS: (after being bumped by Anna and seeing her for the first time. Anna says “Oh, I’m sorry”) It’s perfectly fine. Hi. (SVEN sniffs HANS, butting him with his antler) Whoa. Reindeer in the castle. (bowing to Anna) Prince Hans, of the Southern Isles. (Anna introduces herself as Princess Anna of Arendelle) Princess? (HANS falls to his knees) My Lady (in admiration) QUEEN IDUNA: (Taking hurt YOUNG ANNA to seek the help of PABIE/BULDA) I'm a child of the Northern Nomads. Please, our daughter is hurt. KING AGNARR: (Putting YOUNG ANNA and YOUNG ELSE to sleep) And that means actually sleeping, okay? No magic. PABBIE: (examining the hurt young ANNA). This is a magic strike. You're lucky she did not strike her heart. A heart is not so easily changed, but a head may be persuaded. BULDA: (examining the hurt young ANNA). Born with the powers or cursed? We are removing all magic. Even the magic that fills her memories, to be safe. HANS/ QUEEN IDUNA/ KING AGNARR/ PABBIE/ BULDA all sing “General - Let It Go” Let it go, let it go, and we’ll rise like the break of dawn. Let it go, let it go. The fear and cold are gone. Here we stand in the light of day. Let our true love grow. Let it go. .

In "Frozen" musical, kingdom of Arendelle re- created for Broadway By Peter Marks, Washington Post, adapted by Newsela staff on 03.01.18 Word Count 652 Level 870L Patti Murin as Anna and John Riddle as Hans in "Frozen." Photo by: Deen van Meer Michael Grandage has won major awards for his theater productions, but none of his experience prepared him for his latest project. Now, he has to deal with a character with a carrot nose who's likely to melt. That's because his latest project is Disney's "Frozen." Performances of the play began on February 22. Grandage's stage version is based on the 2013 animated Disney film that made $1.3 billion around the world. Grandage and his team have been hard at work for more than a year. They hope their musical can live up to the movie. Disney Told Grandage To Be True To The Movie Grandage is new to Disney and had never directed an original musical until now. He has the difficult job of meeting the high expectations set by the "Frozen" movie. He must create new magic using whimsical characters like Olaf the Snowman and Sven the Reindeer from Elsa and Anna's kingdom of Arendelle. This article is available at 5 reading levels at https://newsela.com. No pressure! Disney challenged Grandage to be true to the original movie while still coming up with novel surprises. Which brings us back to Olaf. In the movie, he's drawn by Disney's animators as three balls of heartwarming snow. "That's your first question when you do a stage version," Grandage says.

  • A Critical Reading of Gender Roles in Frozen, Zootopia, Despicable Me and Minions
Quest Journals Journal of Research in Humanities and Social Science Volume 6 ~ Issue 12 (2018)pp.:11-15 ISSN(Online):2321-9467 www.questjournals.org Research Paper Pixelating Gender: A Critical Reading of Gender Roles in Frozen, Zootopia, Despicable Me and Minions. Lakshmi P.Gopal 1(Assistant Professor on contract) 2(Department of English, St. Aloysius College, Edathua) ABSTRACT: Animation films are cultural products that exist in the cultural domain for a significant period in the form of prequels, sequels, series and adaptations into different languages. The tremendous impact it has on coming generation calls for a critical reading of the gendered notions presented in this novel media form. A critical reading of the gender roles presented by Disney Studios and Illumination Entertainment Studios shows howthe objective of positive representation is a distant dream. Received 02 December, 2018; Accepted 08 December, 2018 © The Author(S) 2018. Published With Open Access At www.Questjournals.Org. I. INTRODUCTION Movies are the popularliterature of our time. Film studies with respect to gender studies have already gained momentum with the publication of seminal texts such as Popcorn Venusby Marjorie Rosen, From Reverence to Rape by Molly Haskell, “Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema” by Laura Mulvey and through insightful studies by Mary Ann Doane. Gender Studies as it is now is a field of interdisciplinary study devoted to the studyof gender identity and gendered representation as categories of analysis. It also engages in studying the intersection of gender with other categories of analysis of identity including race, sexuality, class, disability and nationality.Though theories regarding post-feminist approaches are in vogue, the very need of a feminist reading of films with a focus on gender still has atremendous scope,as the critical research in thearea associated still hasn‟t achieved its objectives in representing awoman in a non-stereotypical, non-objectified role.

  • Into the Unknown & Let It
Into the Unknown & Let it Go! Frozen Medley Into the Unknown The first section of the medley is focussed on ‘Into the Unknown’ from Frozen 2. The song was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who also wrote the music for the original Frozen film. The song is performed by Idina Menzel who is the voice of Elsa, and Aurora who is singer from Norway. Into the Unknown Into the Unknown is Elsa’s main song in the whole film. Throughout the song there is a mysterious voice that Elsa doesn’t understand at this point. She later finds that it is a siren call, calling out to her. The siren call is the ’Aahhh Aahhh’ part! The siren call is in the style of a Scandinavian form of music called kulning. Kulning Challenge! Kulning is used in both Sweden and Norway and is often used to call livestock (cows, goats, etc.) down from high mountain pastures where they have been grazing during the day. It is possible that the sound also serves to scare away predators but this is not the main purpose of the call. The call is high pitched and always starts by using your head voice and then moves up and down in small steps. Sometimes it can sound quite sad or haunting but the main aim is for the call to communicate over a long distance! Your challenge is to create your own kulning call and have a go at singing it outdoors! Into the Unknown & Let it Go Into the Unknown is based on Elsa's inner conflict over deciding whether or not to leave Arendelle and track down the source of a mysterious voice she keeps hearing.

Bull Received: 10 September 2016; Accepted: 24 March 2017; Published: 26 March 2017 Abstract: Disney’s animated feature Frozen (2013) received acclaim for presenting a powerful heroine, Elsa, who is independent of men. Elsa’s avoidance of male suitors, however, could be a result of her protective father’s admonition not to “let them in” in order for her to be a “good girl.” In addition, Elsa’s power threatens emasculation of any potential suitor suggesting that power and romance are mutually exclusive. While some might consider a princess’s focus on power to be refreshing, it is significant that the audience does not see a woman attaining a balance between exercising authority and a relationship. Instead, power is a substitute for romance. Furthermore, despite Elsa’s seemingly triumphant liberation celebrated in Let It Go, selfless love rather than independence is the key to others’ approval of her as queen. Regardless of the need for novel female characters, Elsa is just a variation on the archetypal power-hungry female villain whose lust for power replaces lust for any person, and who threatens the patriarchal status quo. The only twist is that she finds redemption through gender-stereotypical compassion.
