SSPDT Information presents Presidents’ Day Tournament F LUKE LYNCH (2014-2016) ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY FEBRUARY 18-20, 2017 PRESENTED BY HOCKEYVILLE, USA welcome to Johnstown: On behalf of the Johnstown Tomahawks organization, we would like to welcome you to the ninth annual Slap Shot Presidents’ Day Youth Hockey Tournament in Hockeyville, USA. The Tomahawks are proud to host this event for the first time this season and we hope you can join us on February 18-20 in Johnstown, Pa. Mission Statement It is our goal as the Tomahawks organization to provide each participant with the most rewarding tournament experience possible. We offer multiple playing dates for all classifications in three different locations, with every championship game played at the historic War Memorial Arena. Our staff is committed to providing all tournament participants with excellent customer service and a fun experience both on and off the ice. Overview The 2017 edition of the Slap Shot Presidents’ Day Tournament, hosted by the Johnstown Tomahawks, will be presented at three locations: War Memorial Arena North Central Rec. Center Galactic Ice 326 Napoleon Street 186 Schoolhouse Road 750 Park Avenue Johnstown, PA 15901 Ebensburg, PA 15931 Altoona, PA 16602 It is our goal to place teams in divisions which provide the closest match to your team’s age and skill level. The Tournament is open to the following levels: • Squirt A/B • PeeWee A/B • Bantam A/Bantam B • Midget U16 A • Midget U18 A Other important bits of information: • All teams are guaranteed four games • Top two teams in their divisions will qualify for a championship game • Trophies awarded for first and second place • This is a USA Hockey-Sanctioned Tournament. All USA Hockey rules apply. Tournament Schedule The tournament will begin Saturday morning February 18 and end on Monday afternoon, February 20. Games will have three periods with 12-minute stop times. Midget-level games will feature three periods with 15-minute stop times. Registration Information First come, first serve basis. The tournament cost is $999 per team. Register Online: Quick and Easy on our secure JohnstownTomahawks.com website registration form. Form is located under the Community tab. Register by Phone: Call the Tomahawks office at 814-536-4625 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Register by Mail: Complete the application form enclosed. You can also contact Sean McTighe at [email protected] Deposits, Payment & Cancellations Teams may register by completing the registration form and sending full payment of a $500 non-refundable deposit. The entry fee balance is due 15 days prior to the tournament start date. Teams cancelling their tournament entry within 60 days of the tournament are exempt from a refund of any type. If we are able to fill your team’s spot, with a team paying an entry fee to play, we will apply a credit to entry in a future tournament. No refunds, by cash or check, will be made. Hotel Information The Johnstown Tomahawks Front Office staff will coordinate the hotel bookings. Once your team registration and deposit is submitted, a team representative will be assigned to take care of hotel accomodations. Our partners: Holiday Inn-Downtown Johnstown Quality Inn and Suites Hampton Inn Sleep Inn Additional Information The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League will play a regular season game versus the Aston Rebels on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena. All tournament teams will receive 15 tickets to attend this event as a group. • Each team is encouraged to wear their team colors • Each team will be recognized on the ice and in the Game Day Program • One player per team will take part in an on-ice intermission contest • Additional Tickets for parents and siblings can be purchased for $8 per ticket. Your team representative will be in contact with each group once tournament registration is submitted. Thank You!     CTC Holds Rally to Support Johnstown as Kraft Hockeyville, USA Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) held an employee event at their Johnstown offices on March 5, 2015, to support the local community and promote Johnstown as America’s most passionate hockey community as a part of the Kraft Hockeyville contest. If chosen as Kraft Hockeyville, Johnstown will host a 2015-2016 NHL Pre-Season game and win $150,000 toward upgrading the Cambria County War Memorial arena. Ice hockey has been a part of CTC employees and players from the Johnstown Tomahawks show Johnstown for the past seven decades. their hockey pride and their support for Johnstown as Hockeyville, USA. The slogan for Johnstown’s campaign is “Capture the Spirit,” chosen not just to reflect the spirited hockey community that is present in Johnstown but also a reference to the timeless Johnstown classic, Slap Shot, which featured Paul Newman. CTC’s Hockeyville event featured appearances by the Johnstown Tomahawks and the team’s mascot (Chopper) and included hockey-themed games and prizes. Laptops were also set up so that employees could submit their nomination for Johnstown as Kraft Hockeyville. Nominations close on March 18, 2015, so there is still time to support Johnstown as Kraft Hockeyville! CTC also used the event to benefit the local community. A denim day, where employees could donate $5 in exchange for wearing jeans to work, and a food drive were held concurrently with the event. This resulted in 160 pounds of food and $570 being donated to St. Vincent DePaul “Food for Families,” which supply food to local food pantries and human services agencies.
