Hervey Bay Hockey Association's Welcome WELCOME TO THE U15 GIRL’S STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS Hockey Queensland President’s Welcome Steven Stewart Welcome to the U15 Girls State Championships being held in Hervey Bay. Having witnessed the inspiring performances of the Kookaburra’s and the Hockeyroos this year at the Commonwealth Games I am sure all of our young athletes are motivated to perform and emulate their hockey heroes. I would like to thank the Hervey Bay Association for accepting the significant responsibility of hosting a State Championship and taking the opportunity to showcase their Association, facilities and membership. Hosting an event like this allows Associations to also promote hockey in their community with a view to increasing participation, growing our sport and raising the profile of local hockey players. We should never forget the effort that goes into hosting such an event and my thanks goes to all of those that have been, and will be, involved in its delivery. The many volunteers and employees from the Association and Hockey Queensland who fulfil the variety of roles required including administration, coordination, planning, technical, umpiring, first aid, catering, cleaning and facility maintenance during these events are the backbone of our sport. To the coaches, managers and players thank you for your attendance as without you there would not be a championship. I encourage you to bear sportsmanship in mind whilst you compete to ensure the success of the event and the enhancement of the reputation of both you and your Association. Finally, to the parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts and friends who are attending the event and either supporting players or just enjoying the spectacle, we thank you for your commitment, interest and support. I am sure the Championships will be memorable and I congratulate everyone involved. Hervey Bay is a very friendly accommodating seaside location with many fun filled attractions to enjoy during your stay. The association wishes you well in your games trusts that you will play great hockey enjoy the championship, our hospitality, make many new friends, and remember your stay in Hervey Bay with fond memories I look forward to a week of talented and enthusiastic hockey players showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. The Fraser Coast is no stranger to hockey and has produced national, international and Olympic champions – in both players and coaches. We have for many years hosted Queensland championships and I’m sure many of you will have attended other championships held here over the years. We wish all the teams the very best and hope that visitors and participants can take time out from the tournament to experience a little of what our region has to offer- from a walk on the landmark Urangan Pier, have a once-in-a-lifetime experience with whales, or exploring the historic precincts of Maryborough and simply saying G’day to a local - we hope that you take away many happy memories and Council looks forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Queensland Touch Football. Of course events like these don’t just happen. We thank all of the staff, parents, volunteers and sponsors who have worked tirelessly to make this happen. INT. - NIGHTMARE - RAILCAR - EVENING/NIGHT RUBEN BRANDT (45) is alone in the railcar, sitting by the window, reading a book. The monotonous clatter of the train is lulling him to sleep. He gets up and heads to the toilet through the empty hallway. The train goes into a tunnel. The hallway is dark. He goes in to the bathroom. He washes his hands while whistling. Suddenly, a little boy appears in the background. The boy wears breeches and a shirt, stands in the bathtub and stares Ruben in the face. Ruben wakes up in the railcar. Another boy (FRANK DUVENECK’S WHISTLING BOY, 8), holding a snail, is sitting in front of him, stares straight into his eyes while whistling. A window abruptly falls open and a strong gust of wind slaps Ruben in the face. Ruben is horrified; a little girl (VELÁZQUEZ’S INFANTA MARGARITA, 7), is hanging outside the railcar. RUBEN BRANDT Hey! Her fingers can barely grasp the metal frame of the open window. She screams for help. INFANTA MARGARITA (shouts) Help me! Help me! The moment Ruben leaps over and catches the girl by her thin wrist she bites hard on Ruben's bare hand. Ruben screams with pain, trying to pull his hand out of the girl's mouth, but the girl is much stronger and she slowly pulls him out of the train. Ruben is struggling to no avail.

Undaunted, the dog stayed on her tail — stayed with her for a hundred yards or so — then fi nally fell behind, his territory no longer in danger. Mimi took a deep breath and patted the leather- upholstered steering wheel. “Ms. Cooper, we are now offi - cially not in Kansas,” she said. And the Mini’s horn beeped twice in reply.
