Welcome to the U15 Girls State Championships being held in Hervey Bay. Having witnessed the inspiring performances of the Kookaburra’s and the Hockeyroos this year at the Commonwealth Games I am sure all of our young athletes are motivated to perform and emulate their hockey heroes.
I would like to thank the Hervey Bay Association for accepting the significant responsibility of hosting a State Championship and taking the opportunity to showcase their Association, facilities and membership. Hosting an event like this allows Associations to also promote hockey in their community with a view to increasing participation, growing our sport and raising the profile of local hockey players.
We should never forget the effort that goes into hosting such an event and my thanks goes to all of those that have been, and will be, involved in its delivery. The many volunteers and employees from the Association and Hockey Queensland who fulfil the variety of roles required including administration, coordination, planning, technical, umpiring, first aid, catering, cleaning and facility maintenance during these events are the backbone of our sport.
To the coaches, managers and players thank you for your attendance as without you there would not be a championship. I encourage you to bear sportsmanship in mind whilst you compete to ensure the success of the event and the enhancement of the reputation of both you and your Association.
Finally, to the parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts and friends who are attending the event and either supporting players or just enjoying the spectacle, we thank you for your commitment, interest and support.
I am sure the Championships will be memorable and I congratulate everyone involved.

On behalf of the Fraser Coast community I extend a very warm welcome to everyone participating in and attending the Hockey Queensland Under 15 Women's State Championships being hosted by the Hervey Bay Hockey Association.
The Fraser Coast is no stranger to hockey and has produced national, international and Olympic champions – in both players and coaches.
We have for many years hosted Queensland championships and I’m sure many of you will have attended other championships held here over the years.
We wish all the teams the very best and hope that visitors and participants can take time out from the tournament to experience a little of what our region has to offer- from a walk on the landmark Urangan Pier, have a once-in-a-lifetime experience with whales, or exploring the historic precincts of Maryborough and simply saying G’day to a local - we hope that you take away many happy memories and Council looks forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Queensland Touch Football.
Of course events like these don’t just happen. We thank all of the staff, parents, volunteers and sponsors who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.
As you catch up with old friends and make new friends please enjoy the Fraser Coast.

Acknowledgement and Acceptance As a player representing Hockey Queensland or any affiliated Association in an event that is conducted or sanctioned by Hockey Queensland or any affiliated Association, youmust meet the following requirements with regard to your behaviour:
1. Behave in a sporting manner at all times to all players, officials and spectators. 2. Don’t make detrimental statements in respect of the performance of any match officials or umpires. 3. Play by the rules at all times and ensure that the game of hockey is not brought into disrepute by your actions. 4. Do not engage in inappropriate and/or physical contact with players or officials during the course of play. 5. Accept responsibility for all actions taken. Exercise reasonable care to prevent injury by ensuring that you play within the rules. Reasonable care consists of showing due diligence in abiding by the rules and adhering to the officials decisions. 6. Adhere to the Anti-Doping Policy advocated by Hockey Australia and adopted by Hockey Queensland. 7. Do not bet on the outcome or on any other aspect of a hockey match or competition. 8. Do not try to achieve a contrived outcome to a match or competition, or otherwise improperly influence the outcome or any other aspect of a match or a competition. 9. Do not show unnecessary obvious dissension, displeasure or disapproval (by action or verbal abuse) towards an umpire or match official as a consequence of his or her decision or generally. 10. Abstain from the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcoholic beverages while in the playing/representative uniform. 11. Adhere to Hockey Australia’s racial and sexual vilification policy which has been adopted by Hockey Queensland. 12. Don’t do anything which adversely affects or reflects on or discredits the game of hockey, Hockey Australia, Hockey Queensland, any HQ Association, or any squad, team, competition, tournament, sponsor, official supplier or licensee, including, but not limited to, any illegal act or any act of dishonesty or fraud. 13. Refrain from using obscene, offensive or insulting language and/or making obscene gestures which may insult other players, officials or spectators. HERVEY BAY HOCKEY ASSOCIATION TURF RULES
All fitness is to be conducted on the grass fields NOT ON THE TURF.
All persons must wear appropriate foot wear for a synthetic turf.
Footwear with spikes are NOT permitted on the synthetic turf area.
Footwear MUST be thoroughly clean before entering the synthetic turf.
Alcohol, food, chewing gum and glass, are not permitted on the synthetic turf.
Water & sports drinks in plastic containers may be taken onto the synthetic turf.
Players and umpires are not permitted to wear jewellery, body piercing or fashion accessories, including but not limited to hard hair bands, bobby pins, and hair clips that may cause injury to another player or damage the synthetic turf.
Jumping off or climbing on fences surrounding the synthetic field is strictly prohibited.
Smoking is not permitted on the turf, its surrounds or HBHA Hockey Complex in its entirety.
Team/s vacating the turf are to leave it clean & tidy ensuring they vacate the area promptly.
No unauthorized person/s may enter or remain in the technical bench area.
Hitting of balls inside the technical/team bench area is prohibited.
Moving or tampering with the water cannons is prohibited.
ONLY authorized Hervey Bay Hockey Association officials may operate the watering system.
Hitting up in the Goal Circles during training is not permitted, (only during pre- game warm-ups), practice nets are provided.
Hitting a hockey ball in the direction of the club house is not permitted at any time.
