Reference ID: 23486 Note: H 8.1.1.5 #23486e Abstract: After a year of major political shocks with the Brexit vote and the election of President Trump, it might seem brave to opine on economic prospects for 2017, let alone 2050. However, I still think it is important to take a longer term view of global economic prospects that looks beyond the short-term ups and downs of the economic and political cycle, which are indeed very difficult to forecast. Instead our approach in this report, based on a rigorous modelling approach, focuses on the fundamental drivers of growth: demographics and productivity, which in turn is driven by technological progress and diffused through international trade and investment. Such forces saw America progress through the 19th and early 20th centuries to become the largest economy in the world despite a civil war, various other conflicts with foreign powers, three presidential assassinations, and numerous economic and financial crises. These forces also helped global economic growth to bounce back strongly from two world wars and a Great Depression to reach record levels in the post-war decades. Looking ahead, we think they will see emerging economies come to dominate the 21st century. By 2050 we project China will be the largest economy in the world by a significant margin, while India could have edged past the US into second place and Indonesia have risen to fourth place. -

Cases Related to COVID-19 Pandemic The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) has documented cases in relation to the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to our documentation from March to end of April, a total of 670 people have been charged and punished in Burma during the pandemic. The detailed information is shown below: (455) under Section 188 of the Penal Code and (18) under Section 18 of the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law are facing trials and serving sentences for failing abide-by the night curfew In addition, (166) are charged and convicted under Section 25, 26, 26(a), 27, 28(b), 30(a) (b) of the Natural Disaster Management Law and Section 15 and 18 of the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law and (2) are awaiting trial inside and outside prison under Section 16(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law for failing to comply with the quarantine measures. Moreover, (3) under Sections 325,114 of the Penal Code, (4) under Sections 294, 506, 353, 324 of the Penal Code, (11) under Sections 333, 323, 427, 506, 114 of the Penal Code, (1) under Sections 333, 506, 294 of the Penal Code, (1) under Section 19 of the Peaceful Assembly and Peaceful Procession Law, (2) under Sections 336, 353, 294, 114 of the Penal Code, (1) under Sections 353, 506, 323, 294 of the Penal Code and (3) under Section 295(a) of the Penal Code are awaiting trial inside and outside prison and (2) under Section 47 of the Police Act and (1) under Section 5(1) of the Foreign Registration Act are serving the sentences for contravention of specified orders. -

Dagon University Research Journal 2016, Vol. 7, No. 1 The Study of the Traditional Culture of the Salon Nationals Tin Tin Aung* Abstract The Salon nationals are those who were struggling for their existence by fishing, catching leeches, cutting barnacles, finding birds nests, diving pearls. The Salon nationals are the most skillful persons in diving. It is learnt in ancient time even the newly child was thrown into the sea. In ancient time the Salon nationals used not to wear shirts but only wore longyis. At present, with the development of the modern era and with the encouragement and directions of the State Government the Salon nationals has developed in knowledge and view and has begun to wear the full national dress. Since ancient time a Salon male has the right to marry more than one woman. The wealthy people used to practice the polygamy custom more though marriage is conducted by the consent of parents, they have the right divorce. The marriage conduct has controlled marriage to reduce divorce and commitment of his conduct. In ancient time the Salon national did not used to bury the corpse in the ground, but abandoned it by putting on a scaffold build up on tree in an island. At present they have begun to bury the corpses. Therefore, with an intention not to gradually disappear of Salon nationals residing in the archipelagos in lower Myanmar, it is proposed that the plan should be laid down and implemented by the Government of the Union of Myanmar. Taninthayi Division, in the southernmost part of Myanmar, constituted of three Districts, namely the Dawei District, Myiek District and Kawthaung District. -
