Today we welcome Oldham to Craven Park and the lads will be hoping to stop the visitors completing ahat-trick of wins after two away defeats. It was good to see aconvincing win over Workington last week and our bid for atop three place continues. So many clubs are in with ashout of promotion which makes the season most interesting. Well done to Dean Marwood and his Alliance side for their fine win at Workington -two successive away victories has seen the side go into second place in the First Division. Hemel Hemptead are well in front at the top of the ladder so it would be nice if we could clinch second place. When you consider the games we lost by only the narrowest of margins the team could have been sitting on top of the tree. Keep up the good work lads. It will be interesting to see how many come through the turnstiles today. Last week was most disappointing but there were counter attractions. The Rotary Gala always attracts large numbers and Ulverston had their Mini R.L. Gala Day -this is not the first time this season that Amateur Glubs have arranged their event on the same day as Barrow have ahome fixture. Iunderstand it is aday they can raise money for club funds but surely the fixture list is out early enough in the year -is it asking too much for these clubs to just have alook at one and have their events the week before or after ahome fixture. These kids, and also parents and friends, like to come to Barrow but they must support their own event. Paddy. »
