Resumo dos Trabalhos Desenvolvidos e Desvios à Proposta aprovada Resumo dos Trabalhos No biénio 2011-2012 o Centro de Geociências desenvolveu intensa atividade de investigação que se traduziu por um excelente desempenho (Figura 1), o melhor desde a sua criação. A forte interdisciplinaridade dos temas e áreas de investigação e a grande motivação dos investigadores são uma enorme mais-valia para a ciência e a investigação de alto nível internacional que foi desenvolvida, bem acima do proposto inicialmente para o Projeto Estratégico. Rel. científico PEst-OE/CTE/UI0073/2011 janeiro 2013 2 UI: 73 De destacar os excelentes resultados obtidos (Figura 1) que atingiram 54 publicações ISI e 126 outras publicações em revistas internacionais, totalizando 180 artigos em revistas internacionais, bem acima das 146 previstas. Foram publicados 124 artigos em revistas nacionais com revisão científica, também muito acima dos 49 previstos. Foram publicados 105 livros ou capítulos de livros, e foram apresentados 244 comunicações em encontros científicos internacionais e 100 em encontros científicos nacionais. Destaca-se ainda a organização de 33 seminários e conferências, a conclusão de 12 teses de doutoramento e de 62 teses de mestrado. Foram também realizados 22 relatórios e 18 trabalhos em colaboração com a indústria. Em anexo são apresentados os resultados de execução pormenorizados, organizados por grupos (ficheiro: u73 RelPEst final 130131.pdf) O Grupo de Quaternário e Pré-História consolidou a sua atividade como centro de referência, desenvolveu vários domínios de investigação e reforçou as infraestruturas através de projetos específicos e sectoriais. Dois domínios principais foram consolidados como referência internacional: Arqueologia Rupestre e Tecnologias Pré-históricas. Dois outros domínios emergiram como relevantes: Arqueologia americana (essencialmente Brasileira) e gestão da paisagem (com um novo enquadramento projetado entre as geociências e a combinação das ciências humanas e sociais). Tiveram melhorias importantes nomeadamente a arqueologia em Angola, os Primórdios da Agricultura e a Arqueociências. O grupo organizou vários seminários e conferências e teve responsabilidades em reuniões relevantes (e.g. UISPP word congress, Rio 20, etc.). Todos os subprojectos específicos planeados cumpriram os objetivos superando largamente as previsões. Os piores resultados foram no reforço das infraestruturas (adiamento de 2 anos devido à crise). A disseminação da ciência teve um forte impulso nomeadamente com Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica de Mação (obteve prémios internacionais e a acreditação da HERITY). A rede mundial de museus do Quaternário e Pré-História está a ser estruturada com colaboração entre cerca de 15 países, liderada pela equipa da rede Erasmus Mundus Q&PH. Finalmente refere-se que o grupo conseguiu fundos significativos para a investigação. O grupo de Geologia Sedimentar e Registo Fóssil desenvolveu atividades com enfoques nas aplicações à Geologia do Petróleo, à Geoconservação e à Educação para Desenvolvimento Sustentável (EDS). Teve 2 projetos de Pós-doc em Paleontologia (um concluído e outro em curso aprovado pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia), 1 tese de doutoramento aprovada na UTAD e 9 teses de mestrado na Universidade de Coimbra. Dez novas espécies fósseis foram descritas (3 de Ammonoidea e 7 de Brachiopoda). Os grupo publicou 9 livros, 24 capítulos de livros, 31 artigos em revistas internacionais (12 indexadas à ISI Web of Knowlwdge) e 10 artigos em revistas nacionais, tendo apresentado 72 comunicações em encontros científicos internacionais e 2 em nacionais. Participou na organização de 5 conferências de âmbito internacional, e obteve financiamento externo para 8 projetos relacionados com Exploração de Hidrocarbonetos (1-Petrobras, Petróleo Brasileiro, S.A.), com promoção de EDS (1-Bayer-Portugal) e de desenvolvimento regional (6-Arouca Geopark). Todos os membros desenvolvem atividades de promoção científica, no âmbito de diversas organizações internacionais (International Subcommissions on Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian Rel. científico PEst-OE/CTE/UI0073/2011 janeiro 2013 3 UI: 73 and Jurassic Stratigraphy; the Spanish IGCP 596 Project; the IGCP-UNESCO Committee of Portugal; the European Geoparks Network; the International Association of Sedimentologists). Desvios à Proposta Aprovada Todos os objetivos foram alcançados, tal como sintetizado no texto em anexo e nos indicadores de desempenho. Não houve desvios de relevo em relação ao proposto, exceto na significativa melhoria dos indicadores realizados em relação aos previstos. A maior dificuldade sentida foi na execução financeira da UTAD e do IPT, pois que nestas instituições não estão em funcionamento sistemas de adiantamento de fundos para a execução dos projetos, e os tempos de execução e reembolso dos gastos é demasiado longo e incompatível com a atempada e desejável execução financeira do projeto. 3. On y trouve en particulier un important lot de Brachiopodes déterminés et étiquetés par cet éminent spécialiste des Brachiopodes jurassiques. La disparition de la collection originale du Musée de Caen sous les bombes des alliés en 1944 en fait toute la valeur car les collections du Musée de Gaillac renferment un certain nombre de topotypes (ou néotypes) éventuels. La présente publication donne une brève description des espèces de Brachiopodes jurassiques conservées à Gaillac. Ces descriptions sont précédées d’une synonymie précisant la diagnose originale de chaque espèce, ainsi que la référence à une récente publication, ce qui permet au lecteur de retrouver toutes les données relatives à ces espèces (variabilité morphologique, caractères internes, âges et répartitions géographiques, principales figurations par les auteurs successifs).

Le . présent ouvrage comprend : - I - Bibliographie des Brachiopodes du Lias et du Dogger (essentielle­ ment en Europe occidentale) , aussi complète que possible . - II - Tableau de répartition stratigraphique des espèces de Brachiopodes (1), d'après la littérature citée au chapitre I. - III - Remarques accompagnant le tableau de répartition stratigraphique. Il s'agit de remarques (que l'on peut rapporter à telle ou telle espèce d'après un numéro mis entre parenthèses après le nom de chaque forme) ayant trait à la répartition stratigraphique elle-même , ou bien de remarques paléontologiques (va­ riabilité de l'espèce , interprétation de l'espèce par différents auteurs , création d'espèces sur des figures d'autres auteurs , changements intervenus dans la dé­ nomination générique de l'espèce) . - IV - Liste des taxons cités .

THE Rhynehonellids from the Bagh Beds now under investigation were first identified by Duncan 5,~2 with Rhynchonella depressa Sowerby (non d'Orbigny), from the Upper Green Sand of England and Europe. Later on Bose 7 reported, among the rhynchonellids collected by him from these strata, the presence of Rhynchonella plicatiloides Stoliczka, of the Trichinopoly and Ariyalur Groups (Turonian and Senonian) of Southern India. But till now these rhynchonellids were not examined critically with a view to studying their phylogeny, as was done by Buckmang, 1~ and others14,15.24.25.~6.s~ ,to.. in the-case of other rhynchonellid faunas, the results of which are summar- ised by Buckman TM and Thomson. 5~ The methods of securing the internal casts, by removing the tests of fossils, for exposing their internal characters such as the muscle marks, aiad of studying the brachiaI skeletons in serial sections, both transverse and longitudinal, by grinding down the burnt specimens are fully described by Buckman,l~ is Thomson 5~ and Muir- Wood." In the author's opinion, however, serial sections although helpful in a general way are not useful in separating closely allied forms. The absence of restorations of cardinalia or brachial features in spite of multi- tudinous serial sections figured, for example, by Muir-Wood and others, reduces their intrinsic value. The few serial sections here figured are given to show the general features of the internal characters, and not to indicate their distinctions from closely allied forms.

Les espèces caractérisent, à la fois, les Marges sud et nord de la Téthys occidentale, mais aussi la Bioprovince nord-ouest européenne. Quelques formes d’affinités arabiques s’y ajoutent au Dogger. Ces brachiopodes (19 espèces appartenant à 15 genres) sont décrits et figurés pour la première fois, aucun témoin de ces faunes n’ayant été étudié MOTS CLÉS à ce jour sur la Marge nord-africaine, à l’Est de l’Algérie occidentale.
