Some studies suggest that both residence in rural areas and contact with livestock could be potential risk factors. Methods We performed a retrospective study for the period 2005–2016 of all cases of bacteremia caused by Sb in Galicia (a region in the northwest of Spain). The association between the incidence rate of Sb bacteremia and the number of cattle by province and district was analyzed. Results 677 cases were included with a median age of 76 years, 69.3% males. The most frequent infections were endocarditis (234 cases, 34.5%), primary bacteremia (213 cases, 31.5%) and biliary infection (119 cases, 17.5%). In 252 patients, colon neoplasms were detected (37.2%). S. gallolyticus subsp. gallolyticus was the predominant species (52.3%). Mortality was 15.5% (105 cases). The annual incidence rate was 20.2 cases/106 inhabitants and was correlated with the density of cattle (p < 0.001), but not with rurality. When comparing the two provinces with a strong predominance of rural population, but with important differences in the number of cattle, such as Orense and Lugo, with 6% and 47.7% of Galician cattle, respectively, the rates were very different: 15.8 and 43.6 cases/106, respectively, with an RR of 2.7 (95% CI, 2.08–3.71).

    SAN MARTIÑO DE MONDOÑEDO / 1235 SAN MARTIÑO DE MONDOÑEDO La iglesia de San Martiño de Mondoñedo se encuentra en medio de un pintoresco paisaje de la brumosa y lluviosa Galicia cantábrica. Está situada en la comarca de la Mariña Lucense, a tan solo 5 km de Foz, municipio al que pertenece la parroquia de San Martín. La mejor ruta para llegar es a través de la A-8 o autovía del Cantábrico, ya sea procedentes de Baamonde y Vilalba, o de Riba- deo y Luarca, donde tomaremos el desvío señalizado de Foz (N-642) y, antes de entrar en la villa, nos desviaremos por una carretera local (LU-152) que nos conducirá hasta el ábside de la iglesia. Se trata de uno de los conjuntos más singulares del arte medieval gallego, en el que se mezcla de manera indisociable la realidad con la leyenda. Aunque la iglesia se la conoce popularmente co- mo “la catedral más antigua de España”, este resulta un término exagerado, ya que el edificio actual no es anterior a finales del siglo XI, si bien reaprovecha muchos elementos de la fábrica del siglo X. Como es bien sabido, sus orígenes están ligados a la traslación, por parte de Alfonso III, en el año 866, de la antigua sede de Dumio (Portugal) a este lugar, conocido como Mondoñedo de Foz (Mendunieto, Mondumeto o Monte Dumetum). Se consideran erróneas y atribuibles a un taxon que ha permanecido en el anonimato y que se describe ahora como Ophrys kallaikia. Palabras clave: Ophrys, Orchidaceae, Laínz, Galicia, España. RÉSUMÉ: Sur la présence erronée d’Ophrys araneola en Galice: O. kallaikia, nouvelle espèce. Les citations de Galice (provinces de Lugo et Coruña) attribuées à O. sphegodes, O. sphegodes subsp. litigiosa, O. araneola et O. sphego­ des subsp. araneola sont icí considérées comme erronées et attribuables à un taxon resté anonyme et qu’on décrit comme Ophrys kallaikia, sp. nov.
