Nel mondo sempre più “fluido” delle imprese e della comunicazione, una filosofia vincente per misurarsi con i mercati internazionali consiste nella collaborazione per mettere a sistema le risorse, valorizzare al massimo le capacità di tutti e creare cooperazioni virtuose. Sappiamo bene che non è un concetto facile da mettere in pratica nel nostro settore, dove tanti imprenditori e altrettanti nego- zianti tendono a chiudersi, sfuggendo a un confronto che stimola a dare sempre il meglio con l’esplicita intenzione di “aggiungere valore” al risultato. Non facciamo questo errore, lo abbiamo già ribadito più volte. Lavorare in team permette di raggiungere risultati che, muovendosi senza collaborazioni, sarebbero irraggiungibili. Zampotta crede fermamente nel concetto di cooperazione e lo ha sempre dimostrato mettendo in atto importanti sinergie con le più grandi realtà del settore, dalle aziende alle fiere. Ecco quindi che la nostra rivista, ancora una volta, si schiera in prima linea in questo processo e dà il benvenuto al 2018 avviando una collaborazione con Pets International Magazine, la più importante rivista internazionale universalmente riconosciuta come punto di riferimento del settore degli animali da compagnia, con una tiratura di 11.000 copie e la distribuzione ai lettori in più di 130 Paesi, che in ogni numero affronta diversi temi speciali ed è ricca di tendenze rilevanti, informazioni di mercato e profili aziendali. Grazie a questa sinergia, Zampotta pubblicherà in esclusiva per i suoi lettori alcuni testi di approfondimento su dinamiche di forte attualità, iniziando proprio da questo numero di gennaio. A pagina 12 potete trovare il primo articolo che affronta il tema dei cibi crudi per gli animali da compagnia, uno dei trend di mercato attualmente in crescita a livello internazionale, che offre nuove e interessanti opportunità di guadagno, ma che pone una serie di interrogativi a cui il negoziante deve essere ben preparato a rispondere. L’accordo in esclusiva che la direzione di Pets International Magazine ha siglato con Zampotta ci onora e ci fa molto piacere per- ché conferma il ruolo della nostra testata come rivista di riferimento per il mercato italiano. A cadenza mensile, la rubrica curata da Pets International Magazine tratterà un argomento di stretta attualità e nel corso dell’anno verranno pubblicati altri articoli pensati e scritti appositamente per i nostri lettori. Perché ci teniamo a sottolineare che la collaborazione può rivelarsi un’arma tanto efficace? Two survey conducted in Ulu Belayan river streams, Mahakam river drainage, District Kembang Janggut, Regency Kutai Timur, Province East Kalimantan. This third survey studied the freshwater fish diversity around Mesangat watershed, District Muara Ancalong, Regency Kutai Kartanegara, Province Kalimantan Timur. There is a quite big swampy area in the District Muara Ancalong, Mesangat swamp or in Bahasa Indonesia we call it Rawa Mesangat. This swamp area is the habitat of the protected species of long snout crocodile, Tomistoma schlegeli. The aim of this survey is to get the information of the fish diversity around Mesangat watershed, the distribution of each site and the status of the species. The results of this survey could be use as the basic data for REA KON to manage the area for the continuation and conservation of the species.

I collected and analysed the data and wrote the first draft of the manuscript. Comments from co- authors were incorporated into the text prior to publication. I took part in a field trip to the Zambian portion of Lake Tanganyika to collect specimens and tissues samples for stable isotope analysis and DNA sequencing used in Chapters 2 - 5. I carried out the majority of the lab work, though some extractions and PCRs for Chapter 2 were carried out with the assistance of a lab technician, Mari-Wyn Burley (UCL). Sanger sequencing was also performed by Mari-Wyn Burley at UCL. Illumina sequencing and RAD-seq library quantification was performed by the FAS Center for Systems Biology, Harvard University. 199 unpublished sequences prepared in the laboratory of Dr Thomas Near are used in Chapter 4. I assembled and aligned all sequence data, and performed all analyses. Stable isotope analyses (Chapter 4) were carried out at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC), Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry Facility.
