ZooKeys 84 : 23 – 38 . doi: 10.3897/zookeys.84.756 Abstract Diaugia angusta Perty, 1833 is a Neotropical species of Tachinidae (Diptera) reported here as a parasitoid of Metamasius ensirostris (Germar, 1824) and M. hemipterus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Coleoptera: Dryophthori- dae) in Brazil. Several species of Dryophthoridae and Curculionidae cause damage to bromeliad and palm species, and most are regarded as pests. In the present study, the male and female of D. angusta are mor- phologically characterized and illustrated to provide a means for the identifi cation of this parasitoid. Data obtained from preliminary fi eld research show that natural parasitism of Metamasius pupae by D. -

E-mail: [email protected] In June of 2017, the Field Meeting of the North American Dipterists Society (NADS) was held at the Lubrecht Experimental Forest in western Montana, U.S.A. NADS field meetings, held every two years, provide an opportu- nity for the Diptera research community to meet with their colleagues, collect flies in interesting locales, and learn about current research projects of participants during evening talks. Each meeting is held at a different field site in North America that provides access to a variety of habitats for collecting. An overview of the 2017 meeting in Montana, written by the organizer Andrew Fasbender, can be found in Fly Times issue 59 (Fasbender 2017). Here, we report on the tachinid fauna of the area collected by John Stireman, Jim O’Hara and Juan Manuel Perilla López (accompanied by fellow collector and oestroidiphile Greg Dahlem; see the four of us on the cover of this issue of The Tachinid Times). Parasitoids communities of remnant and constructed prairie fragments in western Ohio. The ability of organisms to disperse to, utilize, and persist in novel habitats in a fragmented landscape is vital to the success of many ecosystem restoration and construction efforts. With less than four percent of original tallgrass prairie persisting across its range, conservationists have made efforts to both protect and restore remnant prairies as well as to plant new prairies. Previous studies suggest that restored ecosystems do not support the same levels of biodiversity and ecosystems services as their remnant counterparts. In this study I measured tachinid fly diversity and orthopteran parasitism rates in order to assess ecological similarity of remnant and constructed prairie fragments and old fields in western Ohio. -
