Ignore the “Strada Regia” which leads to Capovico but continue straight along the flat path until you reach Monti di Sorto .

Abbiamo imparato che non dobbiamo darle per scontate anche se sono da sempre sotto i nostri occhi. Sono molti coloro che con ri- spetto e amore ne hanno cura: anche noi, nella convinzione che pro- muovere e diffondere la conoscenza delle memorie che i nostri Magistri ci hanno lasciato sia il mezzo più efficace per salvaguar- darle e tramandarle alle generazioni future. Da anni l’Associazione Iubilantes propone queste chiare e utili gui- de monografiche che illustrano il territorio: Comunità Montana Lario Intelvese e Comune di Carate Urio sono quindi orgogliosi di poter pubblicare questo opuscolo dedicato a S. Marta ed entrarvi, con la capacità di leggere le trac- ce storiche ed artistiche che il Santuario custodisce: è l’intento di que- sto strumento offerto al visitatore, perché la “visita” sia occasione per un incontro con la Storia, l’Arte e la Bellezza. Se visitando S. Marta si viene colti dalla percezione della «scossa» della bellezza (Platone), suggerisco di non trascurare l’occasione di riconoscervi il segnale per mettere le ali verso l’Alto. «L’umanità può vivere senza la scienza, può vivere senza pane, ma soltanto senza la bellezza non potrebbe più vi- vere, perché non ci sarebbe più nulla da fare al mondo» (F. Dostoev- skij). L’espressione è certamente paradossale: il mondo rischia di cam- biare il suo volto a causa dell’opera poco saggia dell’uomo, che anzi- ché coltivarne la bellezza, sfrutta senza coscienza le risorse del piane- ta a vantaggio di pochi e non di rado ne sfregia le meraviglie naturali.
