Volume 39 Number 5 June 2010 One Dollar Century-Old Clam Digger Yacht Clubs Gear Up For The Season By MARGARET LENZ City Island will soon have a century- old “true clam digger.” Margaret (Larsen) Neumann, of Kirby Street, will celebrate her 100th birthday on June 7, 2010. Margaret was born in 1910 to Nils and Cally Larsen in their house on Hor- ton Street. This makes her one of the few remaining residents who were actually born on the Island. Her parents had immigrated to City Island from Norway, and Margaret grew up here.
