The part commercial broadcaster has no output deal O ut with the BBC and must thus bid against fully commercial rivals. The British Forces Broadcasting Service channels are also government broadcasters, and their concluded run is also an in house sale. TVNZ has not scheduled it yet, but it is expected to be broad- cast by TV2 this year. Michael Idato claimed in his first of January Sydney Morning Herald column that Torchwood would screen on the ABC this year. However senior manage- ment at the station say “(There is) no basis to this I am afraid....no decision made yet.” Marena Manzoufas, the Head of ABC Programming had not seen any of the series by the time of printing, so the next step in the evaluation will be a presentation at the BBC Showcase sales event in February. q from Page 1 The Runaway Bride was a hit on its Christmas Day premiere in the UK, with its final ratings showing it the tenth most watched programme for the week ending December 31st. The overnight ratings for its BBC1 debut were 8.7 million but the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board final figure including time shift viewers inflated this to 9.35 million. It was then repeated three times over the holiday period. Spin off Torchwood rated well and has been renewed for another season. The debut of The Sarah Jane Adventures on January 1st rated 2.9 million. Dreamwatch announced on the 12th of January that they would be discontinu- ing publication from issue 150. Originally Doctor Who Bulletin, a Doctor Who focused fanzine its scope was expanded to cover other topics in 1989, reflected in the title change to DreamWatch Bulletin. In 1994 it was relaunched as Dreamwatch, a professional genre magazine, and in 2001 founding editor Gary Leigh sold it to Titan Magazines.
