As a result, much data on the subsurface geology of downtown Honolulu exists, but it is spread out among individual consulting firms and various governmental agencies. This study commenced with collecting and interpreting data from 2,276 soil boring logs from consulting firms in Honolulu, along with data from the Groundwater Index database and environmental databases maintained by the State ofHawaii.     Downtown & Kalihi Draft TOD Framework Plans February 2012 The framework plans, consisting of diagrams that are summarized here, will provide the fun- damental framework for development of the Downtown and Kalihi Neighborhood Transit- Oriented Development (TOD) Plans, which will guide development over the next 25 years. The plans synthesize feedback on the Emerging Vision articulated during the October 2011 workshops and advisory committee meetings. Community review and endorsement of the framework plans will provide direction for development of more detailed policies and stand- ards.     Project Name: Manoa Heritage Center – Visitor Education Hale Location: Honolulu, HI, USA Project Narrative: The Visitor Education Hale is the final piece of the Manoa Heritage Center master plan. It will serve as a flexible classroom for the thousands of visitors who come to MHC to experience for the ancient Hawaiian temple, Kuka'o'o heiau and well as the endemic and indigenous collection of Hawaiian plans. It also provides for the MHC administration as well as public restrooms. Please refer to the slides for the complete story about the research, design and execution of the project including a strong emphasis on sustainable design & practices. Sustainability Narrative: Manoa Heritage Center is the caretaker to one of Hawaii's most priced Hawaiian artifacts, Kuka'o'o heiau (temple). Kuka'o'o is an agricultural heiau that is believed to have been constructed during 10th century. Strategically placed in the Waikiki ahupua'a (ancient Hawaiian land division from the mountains to the sea), Kuka'o'o heiau served as a temple for both worship and to study the cosmos related to the Hawaiian lunar calendar which determined the wet & dry seasons as well as the monthly planting & harvesting schedule. Today, Kuka'o'o heiau symbolizes the 600-800 years of sustainable living for ancient Hawaiians prior to western contact and is why sustainability was a major priority for this project. One of our major project goals was to create a Visitor Education Hale with a net zero carbon footprint and provide an educational curriculum for the school children & adult visitors who come to visit MHC.

Kawasaki is a visitor industry veteran with more than 20 years in public relations, advertising, as well as food and beverage sales. CHUN Researcher REPORT No.1, 1974 Legislative Reference Bureau State Capitol Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 Price: $3.50 FOREWORD During the Seventh Session of the Legislature of the State of Hawaii, 'both the House of Representatives and the Senate adopted resolutions requesting the Legislative Reference Bureau to undertake a study of the Waikiki Aquarium. Window to the Sea is the result of those requests. This study is in keeping with the declared objectives and roles of both the Bureau and the Legislature. It satisfies the role of "advisor to the legislature" by suggesting alter­ native means of action in the future development of the Aquarium. It leaves the policy making decisions to the elected body for which such decisions were intended. By offering a view of the causes and effects of various actions, it is hoped that the legislature itself may determine the future course of development of the Waikiki Aquarium. Many individuals and agencies have been extremely helpful and cooperative in supplying the data and general information necessary for this study. The Bureau is grateful for the contributions of the Waikiki Aquarium staff, the staff at the University of Hawaii, and the numerous other individuals who were so important to the final report. The Bureau is most appreciative of the work of Dawn Suyenaga for her survey and research aid.
