ROYAL ORDER OF KAMEHAMEHA I CELEBRATES 15OTH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING WITH A PROGRAM ON FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2015

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I — The Royal Order of Kamehameha I Hawai‘i Chapter I, and Nā Wahine Hui ‘O Kamehameha I, Kūhiō Chapter VI and Kapuāiwa Chapter VIII on the island of O‘ahu will host a commemoration program celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I by Royal Decree of Lot Kapuāiwa, King Kamehameha V, made on April 11, 1865 in , Hawai‘i the Kingdom of Hawai‘i.

“The three O‘ahu Island Chapters are looking forward to presenting the first of several programs to commemorate and celebrate the 150th anniversary founding of the Most Noble Royal Order of Kamehameha I,” said Ali‘i Sir Arthur K. Aiu, KGCK, Ali‘i ‘Aimoku O Hawai‘i I.

There will be a pre-program concert at 11 a.m. by the Taiko students from Nuuanu in Honolulu who will perform on the front mauka lawn of Ali‘iōlani Hale – the Judiciary Building. “With the presentation of the Hongwanji Mission School Taiko drummers” Ali‘i Sir Ronald T. Y. Moon, KCK, Hawai‘i Chapter’s Honorary Chair of the 150th Anniversary Celebration said, “The Royal Order of Kamehameha I wants to emphasize the internationalism of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i during the reign of King Kamehameha V.”

At 12 Noon in the Ali‘iōlani Hale second floor of the State Supreme Court our program begins its procession led by our Kahuna Pule Ali‘i Sir Ikaika Bantolina, KC, followed by the High Chiefs, and the Chiefs of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Nā Wahine Hui O Kamehameha I and Hawai‘i State Supreme Court Chief Justice and Associate Justices with our guest speaker Ali‘i Niklaus R. Schweizer, Honorary Consul Emeritus of Switzerland and an Ali‘i in the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Hawai‘i Chapter 1, The Very Reverend Walter B.A. Brownridge, Dean of Saint Andrew’s Cathedral in Honolulu, Episcopal Diocese of Hawai‘i will offer the Pule Wehe and His Excellency Ali‘i Sir Larry Silva, KCK, Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Honolulu, Hawai‘i will

offer the Pule Ho‘oku‘u for the occasion. The program will include Hula Kahiko in the by dancers of Ka Pā Hula Hawai‘i under the direction of Ali‘i Kahai Topolinski, Kumu Hula.

INVITED DIGNITARIES INCLUDE Governor David Ige, Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui, President Donna Mercado Kim of the Hawai‘i State Senate, Speaker Joseph Souki of the Hawai‘i State House, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, City Council Chair Ernie Martin, the Hawai‘i Congressional delegation, along with the members of the Diplomatic Consul Corps whose countries held diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Hawai‘i in 1865. We have also invited members of the Royal Hawaiian Benevolent Societies – ‘Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu, Hale ‘O Nā Ali‘i ‘O Hawai‘i, and Daughters and Sons of Hawaiian Warriors – Māmakakaua; along with other Hawaiian organizations such as the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs. Invitations have been extended to the various Orders of Knights on O‘ahu such as the Lodge Le Progres de L’Oceanie Free and Accepted Masons of which King Kamehameha III, IV, and V as well King Lunalilo and King Kalākaua were members of this Masonic Chapter; the Roman Catholic Knights of Columbus, Brother Dutton Chapter Hawai‘i; Knights of Saint Andrew’s for Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Knights of the Orthodox Order of St. John Russian Grand Priory, Hawai‘i Priory.

On display in the ante-room of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court from 1 – 4 p.m. will be a private memorabilia collection of artifacts and collectables from Kamehameha I, II, III, IV, and V belonging to Don Medcalf of Hawaiian Islands Stamp & Coin in Downtown Honolulu.
