Tourists' Perception on the Environmental Quality of Port Dickson As Sustainable Tourism Destination TOURISTS' PERCEPTION ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY OF PORT DICKSON AS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DESTINATION. BY NADIA BT. MOHD NASIR A dissertation submitted in fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Master of Urban and Regional Planning Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design International Islamic University Malaysia FEBRUARY 2013 ABSTRACT This dissertation discusses the tourists' perception on the impact of tourism development towards the environmental quality of Port Dickson. It aims to examine the visitors’ responses towards the current environmental quality of the study area. Port Dickson is now having crucial environmental problems in spite of being one of the famous tourist spots in Malaysia. There are several aspects of the environment needing to be focused on which are water, air, environment and noise pollution. The questionnaire survey was distributed to a total of 120 visitors coming from all over Malaysia. The result based on the questionnaire distributed helped the author to identify the tourists' perceptions on the environmental issues and problems in Port Dickson. Further analysis and discussion shows that this situation can be improved by a few means of sustainable tourism planning strategies, appropriate IT applications with active and effective public participation. ii كما أظهرت نتائج حتليل البيانات أنه باﻹمكان حتسني الوضع البيئي املتدهور يف املنطقة عن طريق وضع اسرتاتيجيات للتخطيط السياحي املستدام، واستخدام تطبيقات تقنية املعلومات واﻻتصاﻻت املناسبة، وفتح اجملال للمواطنني للمشاركة الفاعلة يف تطبيق ودعم مثل تلك اﻻسرتاتيجيات. iii APPROVAL PAGE I certify that I have supervised and read this study and that in my opinion, it conforms to acceptable standards of scholarly presentation and is fully adequate, in scope and quality, as a thesis for the degree of Master of Urban and Regional Planning. ............................................... • Menganalisis Pola Dan Arah Aliran Hujan Di Negeri Sembilan Menggunakan Kaedah GIS Poligon Thiessen Dan Kontur Isoyet
GEOGRAFIA OnlineTM Malaysian Journal of Society and Space 2 (105 - 113) 105 © 2006, ISSN 2180-2491 Menganalisis pola dan arah aliran hujan di Negeri Sembilan menggunakan kaedah GIS poligon Thiessen dan kontur Isoyet Shaharuddin Ahmad1, Noorazuan Md. Hashim1 1School of Social, Development and Environmental Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Correspondence: Shaharuddin Ahmad (email: [email protected]) Abstrak Curahan hujan seringkali digunakan sebagai indeks iklim bagi menentukan perubahan dalam kajian perubahan iklim global.

A hospital-based case-control study of viral encephalitis was carried out at Port Dickson Hospital, in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Between March and May 1999, 69 clinically diagnosed viral encephalitis cases and 31 controls were interviewed. Job histories on pig farming activities were assessed by a group of epidemiologists and veterinary surgeons. Results show that among clinical cases of viral encephalitis, 52 (75.4%) cases were diagnosed to have Nipah virus infection based on positive serology for antibodies to the cross-reacting Hendra virus antigen. The Nipah virus encephalitis was significantly associated with a history of working in pig farms (p < 0.001, OR = 196.0, 95% CI = 20.4 - 4741.6), history of contact with animals (p < 0.001, OR = 38.3, 95% CI = 8.2 - 209.0) and with history of direct contact with pigs (p = 0.002, OR = 34.4, 95% CI = 2.6 - 1,024.4). The Nipah virus infection was also significantly associated with history of feeding/cleaning pigs (p < 0.001, OR = 102, 95% CI = 11.9 - 2,271.5).
