99.5 WYCD Hosts 9 Annual Radiothon to Benefit St

99.5 WYCD hosts 9th Annual Radiothon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Southfield, – February 4, 2008 – ’s Country 99.5 WYCD will host its 9th annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® Radiothon this Wednesday and Thursday, February 6 and 7, 2008 from 5am-7pm, live from the center court at Oakland Mall. The Radiothon raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, the world’s premier center for the research and treatment of cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. Last year, Country Cares raised more than $34 million in pledges nationwide, and 99.5 WYCD locally raised more than $500,000 through the generosity of the station’s listeners. In addition to the Radiothon, 99.5 WYCD is also hosting an on-line auction featuring autographed items that will benefit St. Jude that will conclude on Thursday at 5pm. Items up for bid include a pair of Clint Black’s autographed jeans, a Keith Urban RIAA Certified Platinum Record, a Autographed guitar and more. Items can be seen and bid on by visiting the WYCD website at www.wycd.com An on-air auction of additional unique items will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 (the day prior to the Radiothon) on 99.5 WYCD. Local listeners are encouraged to make pledges by calling 800-374-4995 during the event or by visiting www.wycd.com The Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program began in 1989, after Randy Owen, lead singer of the music group ALABAMA, met St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. Since its inception, Country Cares has grown to be one of the most successful radio fundraising events in the nation with more than 200 radio station partners raising more than $315 million in pledges.
