    EMMETT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #221 Wayne Rush, Superintendent KNOW YOUR TERMINOLOGY For Securing Our Schools Using the same Terminology throughout the district is critical in situations that impact the safety of students and staff. Three plain language terms are used by schools, police, and members of the media during such events. “Lockdown” “Hold and Secure” “Shelter in Place” "Lockdown" is used when there is a major immediate threat of serious violence inside the school or on school property. Classroom doors will be locked and students are moved to a safe area in the classroom. All movement in and out of the school and within the school is restricted. Outside doors are to be locked, except in the case where the threat is already in the building. "Hold and Secure" is used to secure the school due to an ongoing situation outside the school that requires all persons to remain in the building. Examples may include a bank robbery or domestic situation near a school. The school continues to function normally, with the exterior doors locked until the situation is resolved. Staff member posted near each entrance to ensure no one leaves the building. All movement in and out of the school is restricted. Notification of situation may come from local law enforcement or school employees. "Shelter in Place" is used for an environmental, or weather related situation, where it is necessary to keep all occupants within the school for their protection. This response may be recommended by Police, Fire Department, EMS, etc. Examples may include chemical spills, blackouts, explosions, or extreme weather conditions.

They are on a first-name basis with country music’s biggest stars and Nashville’s most important executives. Why? Because radio is still the most important outlet for music to be played and heard, and the PDs on the pages that follow carry around the keys to the radio stations country music fans love most. The relation- tship between country stars, Country PDs, Country radio stations, and the country music fans is like none in any other format. If you’ve ever attended a Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, you know exactly what we mean. The stars mingle with the programmers, great relationships are formed, and a lot of artists and PDs talk or text on a regular basis. And being one of the Best Country Program Directors is much more than mingling with the stars. A successful Country PD has to execute the format flawlessly in markets where there is typically more than one station compet- ing for country fans. A successful Country PD has to have an ear for the music, and be willing to take chances on a new song or new artist. A successful Country PD has to nurture relationships with label executives in Nashville who now have more outlets than ever to get their music to the masses. And a successful Country PD must serve the local community, which is one of the hallmarks, along with strong ratings, of a consistently successful Country radio station.

But even before the holiday format’s enormous ratings impact is felt, newly released numbers have brought tidings of comfort and joy to its host stations. In Philadelphia, Jerry Lee Broadcasting AC “More FM” WBEB surged 6.8-7.3-8.0 among listeners 6+ since September for its strongest November 6+ showing in at least four years. That’s more than a full share ahead of where it was last November when it headed into the radio equivalent of the Super Bowl with a 6.8 share. Philly’s other soon- to-be all-Christmas outlet, CBS Radio’s classic hits WOGL (98.1), also heads into the season on a major ratings upswing, lunging 4.6-5.9 to rank third. In New York, iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite FM” WLTW is looking fine for the holiday audience influx, ranked first with a 6.8. Ditto in Houston, where AC sister “Sunny 99.1” KODA has been slowly gaining share (7.5-7.6-7.7) while keeping its lock on No. 1. In the ultra-compressed Los Angeles market, perennial iHeart holiday station “Coast 103” KOST has pre-Christmas momentum, improving 4.5-5.0 to rank fourth and just 0.7 away from CBS Radio’s top-rated classic hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH.

    February 10, 2020, Issue 691 Power Gold: Concentration Game This edition of Country Aircheck’s Power Gold is led by eight artists who combine for 46 of the Top 100 most-heard Gold hits. Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line lead the parade with seven songs apiece, followed by Jason Aldean and Zac Brown Band with six each. Rounding out the top PG hit-makers are Kenny Chesney, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood, all with five hits in the Top 100. One artist – Dierks Bentley – places four songs in this elite group, meaning that nine acts are responsible for 50% of the current Power Gold. More thoughts on that later.
