PILISTVERE KIHELKOND JA VABADUSE RISTI VENNAD Jaak Pihlak, Viljandi Muuseumi Direktor
PILISTVERE KIHELKOND JA VABADUSE RISTI VENNAD Jaak Pihlak, Viljandi Muuseumi direktor Käesolev kirjutis on kaheksas sarjast, mis on pühendatud Viljandi- maaga seotud Vabaduse Risti kavaleridele. Artiklid on koostatud kihel- kondlikul alusel. Seni on ilmunud ülevaated Kõpu, Tarvastu, Paistu, Karksi, Kolga-Jaani, Suure-Jaani ja Halliste kihelkonnaga seoseid oma- nud ristivendadest (VMA 1998–2004). Järgnevas artiklis käsitletakse mehi, kellel oli kokkupuuteid Pilistvere kihelkonnaga. Eesti Vabaduse Rist ehk Vabadusrist (VR) on riiklik teenetemärk, mida annetas Vabariigi Valitsus Vabadussõjas osutatud sõjaliste teene- te, lahingutes üles näidatud isikliku vapruse ja mitmesuguste tsiviiltee- nete eest. Samuti anti see kõrge orden Verduni linnale ning Prantsuse, Inglise ja Itaalia Tundmatule Sõdurile. Lisaks on Vabaduse Rist tsiviil- teenete eest määratud 1924. aasta 1. detsembri mässu mahasurumisel silma paistnud kümnele mehele. Aastatel 1919–1925 jagati kokku 3224 Vabaduse Risti (ET 2000: 429). -

JOBS CREATED out of TALLINN HAVE NOT Reduced
THE BALTIC JOURNAL OF ROAD AND BRIDGE ENGINEERING 2013 8(1): 58–65 JOBS CREATED OUT OF TALLINN HAVE NOT REDUCED COMMUTING Roland Mäe1 , Dago Antov2, Imre Antso3 Dept of Transportation, Tallinn University of Technology, Ehitajate tee 5, 19086 Tallinn, Estonia E-mails: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract. Although urban sprawl is relatively new process for Estonia which has not revealed itself to the full extent, in many European cities urban sprawl is recognised as a major challenge to quality of life. Due to the above mentioned negative aspects of urban sprawl in some countries the efforts are determined to restrain urban sprawl. Many studies have been undertaken to research the financial, ecological, cultural and social cost of urban sprawl in most of developed countries. This is the main reason, why declared in the majority of studies the theses, especially in the field of traffic and transportation, cannot be applied to assess situation in our country. Estonia has many geographical, economical, social and cultural peculiarities, which influence its traffic and transportation patterns as well as its urban sprawl rates. Economical crisis has shown the exigency to reduce drastically non-productive expenses and optimize productivity of labour. Thus the reduction of losses in traffic and transportation could be one of all possible solutions. In this article the commuting caused by urban sprawl has been analyzed. The second task is to find out in which range public databases are used to determine the demand of mobility. Keywords: urban sprawl, commuting, traffic volume, mobility, territorial planning, public databases. -
Tsistertslaste Roll 13. Sajandi Eestis
Acta Historica Tallinnensia, 2009, 14, 3–30 doi: 10.3176/hist.2009.1.01 MISJONÄR VÕI MÕISNIK? TSISTERTSLASTE ROLL 13. SAJANDI EESTIS Kersti MARKUS Tallinna Ülikooli Ajaloo Instituut, Rüütli 6, 10130 Tallinn, Eesti; [email protected] Tsistertslaste tegevuse uurimisel on ajalooallikaid kombineeritud maastikuajaloolise teabega, mis avardab oluliselt senist arusaama vendade rollist tolleaegse ühiskonna kujundamises. Kahjuks on allikalised andmed napid, kuid kombinee- rides olemasolevat teavet maastikuajaloolise teabega, võivad avaneda hoopis uued üllatavad perspektiivid. VALKENA2 KLOOSTER Ainsa Eesti alal 13. sajandil asutatud tsistertslaste mungakloostri rajamise asja- olud on üsna segased. Erialakirjanduses figureerivad eri aastaarvud ja pole selgust 1 Mõeldud on Eesti alal koostatud ametlikke dokumente: Kala, T. Dokumendid ja inimesed 13. sajandi Liivimaal. – Rmt: Sõnasse püütud minevik in honorem Enn Tarvel. Koost P. Raudkivi, M. Seppel. Argo, Tallinn, 2009, 107.
