Five years later he was named Head of Business Development at Universal Music Group’s digital division, managing Universal Music On Line, a specialist digital subsidiary of Universal Music. In January 2016 he took on the Business Development Director within the digital division in Paris.

A REID (USA) L.A Reid has been shaping the music scene for more than 25 years and his keynote at Midem will allow Reid to share some incredible stories about his career and his experience working with many top international artists. Former Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, he is a Grammy Award-winning , , and producer in his own right, and is now a New York Times bestselling author for his memoir, ‘Sing to me: My Story of Making Music, Finding magic, and Searching for Who’s Next”. MARTINE REICHERTS, Director-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), European Commission (Belgium) In her intervention, Martine Reicherts will present recent developments at EU level relating to the music sector, including financial support provided under the Creative programme. In the context of Music Moves Europe, the framework for the European Commission’s activities in support of the sector, she will outline the Commission’s plans to set up efforts to promote music diversity and creativity in Europe. Specific initiatives will be further presented and discussed the following days in the Music Moves Europe pavilion on the 4th floor of the Palais des Festivals.

ANDY NG, Vice President, Tencent Music Entertainment Group (China) Following the creation of Tencent Music Entertainment Group, Ng’s keynote at Midem coincides with Tencent’s push to expand elsewhere into Asia, with the recent announcement that the Shenzhen-based company will this year extends its reach to other Southeast Asian territories and is also exploring a launch in India. Ng will give the Midem audience an insight into what lies in store for the music streaming service. He will also give his perspective on monetisation of the listening audience in this market, focusing on music legislation in China, developing trends in the digital music market, and how to cooperate with digital music platforms. The Midemlab 2017 finalists: This year Midemlab received 136 submissions, from 32 countries. Some 30% of these were only founded in 2016, and nine-out-of-10 are seeking funding at Midem. Midem Artist Accelerator (MAA) is a unique programme designed to fast-track the international careers of selected artists. The MAA aims to identify and develop emerging talent as well as support managers, labels, agents and publishers seeking to grow their artists’ profile on the international stage. A UNIQUE REWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL MUSIC LEADERS The second International Midem Awards will this year honour a quartet of industry figures who have all made a significant contribution to the music ecosystem. Awards will also be made to the winner of Midem Artist Accelerator programme and the winner of Midemlab. Hosted by Paul Zilk, CEO of Midem’s organiser Reed MIDEM, the award ceremony will be part of a gala dinner on 7 June in the Majestic Hotel, Cannes. The 2017 International Midem Awards will be presented to:

. Sarah Stennett, one of the UK’s most successful recording artist managers and Co-Founder of First Access Entertainment. . Ralph Peer, Chair and CEO of peermusic, a global network of music publishing companies. . Emmanuel de Buretel, CEO and Founder of Because Music (founded in 2004, Because Group is an independent music group involved in all aspects of music business (recorded promotion, publishing, live production, management, concerts halls). . Andrew Fisher, Executive Chairman of the music identification app Shazam (among the top 10 most popular apps in the world). The International Midem “Coup de Coeur 2017” Award will be presented to the winner of the Midem Artist Accelerator. This year’s winner is M.Anifest, a lyricist, rapper and songwriter from Ghana.

The evening will feature an exclusive screening of a 12-miunute reel from the much awaited forthcoming movie “All Eyez On Me” about hip-hop legend and cultural icon Tupac Shakur, from Lionsgate/Code Black, including behind the scenes footage and an unseen trailer.
