St. John Vianney and Holy Family office phone: 5072355535 St. John Vianney Weekend Mass Schedule Holy Family Weekend Mass Schedule Saturday (Vigil) 5:00pm and Sunday 10:00am Sunday 8:00am May the peace of Christ be with you, As we enter into the Advent season we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Lord. The readings refer to the coming of Jesus at the end of the world, and then begin to shift to the first coming of Jesus, 2020 years ago in Bethlehem. St. Bernard of Clairvaux reflects that there is a third coming between the other two, and that is when Jesus Mon. Nov. 30……………………………………....St. Andrew comes to us in prayer, in spirit and in power. “Because this coming No Mass Today lies between the other two, it is like a road on which we travel form the first coming to the last. In the first, Christ was our redemption; in the last, he will appear as our life; in this middle coming, he is our Tues. Dec. 1………………………………...Advent Weekday rest and consolation. In case someone should think that what we say 5:15pm Mass at St. John Vianney Church about this middle coming is sheer invention, listen to what our Lord †Marina & Jerry Atkinson himself says; “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Wed. Dec. 2…………..………………..……Advent Weekday Father will love him, and we will come to him” (John 14:23). This coming of Christ is a very real way that we can celebrate Christmas 8:40am Mass at St. John Vianney Church as not just a remembrance of something that happened long ago, nor †Diane Erwin merely thinking about what will happen in the future. We can invite Jesus into our hearts this year, to dwell in us and renew us as a living Thurs. Dec. 3…………..………...... ……St. Francis Xavier temple of God. 8:30am Mass at St. John Vianney Church When Jesus entered Jerusalem at the beginning of his public †Ken Washa ministry, he cleansed the temple of moneychangers and those selling doves, and livestock for the sacrifices. He said, “Take these out of Fri. Dec. 4.……….…………….………St. John Damascene here and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.” He went on 8:30am Mass at St. John Vianney Church to answer the Jews who asked for a sign for doing this, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” He was referring to the †Martha Maday Moltzen temple of his body (John 2:1620). Jesus as both God and man, had Sat. Dec. 5…....……....……...…….………….…..Vigil Mass the Holy Spirit dwelling in his human body and soul as in a temple. This indwelling happens to each of us when we are baptized and 5:00pm Mass at St. John Vianney Church †Deb Homan filled with the Holy Spirit. The season of Advent is a good time to invite Jesus to “cleanse our Sun. Dec. 6 ………….….….....Second Sunday of Advent temple” by forgiving us of our sins and healing us of any impurities of soul. St. Caesarius of Arles writes on the feast day of the 8:00am Mass at Holy Family Church dedication of the Basilica of St. John Lateran, “Whenever we come †Vincent Stefanski to church, we must prepare our hearts to be as beautiful as we expect 10:00am Mass at St. John Vianney Church this church to be. Do you wish to find this basilica immaculately clean? Then do not soil your soul with the filth of sins. Do you wish For the People this basilica to be full of light? God too wishes that your soul be not in darkness, but that the light of good works shines in us. Just as you Parish Contacts enter this church building, so God wishes to enter into your soul, for he promised, ‘I shall live in them, and I shall walk the corridors of St. John Vianney/Holy Family Parish Office 5072355535 sjv[email protected] www.sjvhf.org

First Sunday of Advent 6 November 29, 2020 St. John Vianney Catholic School
We are moving into Advent as a church family. What are you going to do personally and as a family to prepare for the birth of Jesus? We are beginning the Advent season at school with our annual Monday prayer services. This is a nice way to start our week. It focuses our mind on what is importantJesus! We were going to begin our basketball program this coming week, but we will be pushing that back again until January. Let’s hope that by then, we will be able to hear the sound of bouncing balls in the gym. Please continue to keep St. John Vianney School in your prayers. We appreciate every prayer that is said for our students, teachers, staff, and families. Blessings, Mrs. Sarah Striemer St. John Vianney Catholic School Principal
