10. 10. 2019 Narada - Wikipedia Narada Narada (Sanskrit: , Nārada) is a Vedic sage, famous in Hindu नारद Narada traditions as a traveling musician and storyteller, who carries news and enlightening wisdom.[1][2] He appears in a number of Hindu texts, notably Devarshi the Mahabharata telling yudhishtra the prahlada story the Ramayana as Messenger of Gods warning Ravan. as well as in the Puranas.[2] Once God decided that it was time for Him to descend to earth to set matters right, most lesser Gods came down too as someone or the other to aid and enjoy a ringside view of epochal events. He is also referred to as the king of all sages or rishis, meaning Rishiraj. He was gifted with the boon of knowledge, past, present and future. Once his knowledge became a hindrance in God's designs. He was therefore cursed that although he would tell the truth and warn people, they would never believe him. In Indian texts, Narada travels to distant worlds and realms (Sanskrit: lokas). He is depicted carrying a khartal (musical instrument) and tambura with the name Mahathi and is generally regarded as one of the great masters of the ancient musical instrument. This instrument is known by the name "mahathi"[3][4] which he uses to accompany his singing of hymns, prayers and mantras. In the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism, he is presented as a sage with devotion to Lord Vishnu. Narada is described as both wise and mischievous in some Sage Narada humorous tales. Vaishnav enthusiasts depict him as a pure, elevated soul Affiliation Devotee of Vishnu, who glorifies Vishnu through his devotional songs, singing the names Hari Deva and Narayana, and therein demonstrating bhakti yoga. -

Indian Hindu mythology provides examples of great communicators like Narad and Hanuman who provide the earliest glimpses of journalism. Interestingly, Hindu mythology and the modern communication media have not been connected, though the literature available brings about valid connections of transformation in this communication media for the purpose of social welfare. The present paper delves into presenting a developmental picture connecting ancient India to the modern India with respect to the communication media and its role in social reformation. Analysis of mythological identities and furthermore through a series of extensive reading done by the author made believe that the motive of journalism and social participation was to bring about a social change. This study is based on connections based on descriptions available on characters and identities from Hindu mythology. The path of development of communication media has been traced down with the technological advancements in the form of chronological development of the aids and their impact on social reformation. The mythological Indian characters have passed on through stories and Vedas which have scattered appearance in the form of concrete literature. It can be seen that communication media has been instrumental in impacting the social reformation at all times. -

www.saveca.ca SAMAVEDA UPAKARMA – SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2013 (SATURDAY) Sama Veda Upakarma Prayoga for the year 2013 (07-09-2013) In the case of Sama Veda, the upakarma prayogam is very extensive and differs very much from the Upakarma prayoga of Rig and Yajur Vedis.They always do it in Hastha Nakshtra. It essentially consists of ten steps in the following order: 1.Panchagavya sammelanam 2.Snana Mahasankalpam 3.Brahmayagnam 4.Punyaham 5.Rishipooja(Uthsarjan Karma) 6.Deva,rishi, Pithru Tharpanam (264+12) 7.Ghata Poojai 8.Yagnopaveethadhaaranam 9.Vedarambam 10.Kankanadharanam The above have to be done with the instruction of a Guru but in modern times when people are scattered all over the world and also because well learned Sama Vedi Purohithas are very scarce, many people are forced to do it in their home depending on some handouts. Since most of the above steps are lengthy and involve proper chanting of Sama Veda Mantras, following three steps of the above 10 are recommended. Narada Bhakti Sutra A summary of Swami Tadatmananda’s Discourse September 26, 2006 We need to clearly understand parama prema bhakti so as to build a solid foundation for further study of this text. Bhakti as parama prema is not to be misunderstood as intense love; “intense” is a matter of degree and “love” is an emotion, which comes and goes. Bhakti is unique and qualitatively different from love (prema). We need to explore this further. Sutra 2 clearly says that parama prema (let’s call it true bhakti) is in (or directed to) “this”; it does not say it is in Vishnu, Bhagavan, or Shiva; it is not “that” which would mean some thing remote and separate. The word used is “this”; any name, as Bhagavan, etc. would only be limiting the limitless God. Bhakti directed to “that” or something separate is sadhana bhakti as opposed to sadhya bhakti. Sadhana is means by which one reaches a goal, and sadhya means goal. Sadhana bhakti is devotion to murtis, deities, avataras, or a guru (as one who is ego-less). Through sadhana bhakti one reaches sadhya bhakti, which is the goal, reaching Ishvara. It is clearly the sadhya bhakti that is being referred to in Sutra 2, and this becomes evident in Sutra 3 as well. Sutra 3: “Amrita swarupa cha”; translation, “and having the essential form of amrita (immortality).” Commentary: This sutra means, “The nature of that bhakti (referred to in Sutra 2) is immortal”. Immortal is that which is uncreated and undying; undying because it is never born in the first place. -

26-Ekadashis and their stories Importance: Once during Tapobhoomi Namishaaranya Thirth, eighty eight thousand rishis and Muni. Shri Ved Vyas, the prime Pandit Sutji was seated in between the 88000 Rushi Muni like a Moon between the nine lakh stars. Everyone asked Sutji Maharaj one question. " In the coming generation to get rid of all sorrows what is the remedy." We all are eager to hear from you. Hearing this request Shri Sutji said for the well being of humanity this question which you have said with the Blessings of Shri Ved Vyasji I am going to narrate to you. Now you will all listen with attention. Sutji said in one year there are 12 months and the 12 months have 24 Ekadashis. In a Leap year (Purshottam Maas) there is one extra month so 2 additional Ekadashi are there. So total there are 26 Ekadashi. Now I am narrating the 26 Ekadashi names, only by listening to the names of the Ekadashi many sins are washed away. So listen attentively. 1. Utpana 2. Mokshada 3. Saphala 4. Putrada 5. Sattila 6. Narada Bhakti Sutra A summary of Swami Tadatmananda’s Discourse November 28, 2006 With sutra 33, we finished Chapter 2 of the Narada Bhakti text. The first two chapters have described para-bhakti, which is the goal to be reached. To reiterate, para bhakti is a permanent state of utter non-separation from God. When everything is God, how can there be a separation anyway? It’s just that we have to recognize this truth. By now (having been coming to the ashram regularly) we all have heard and known whatever is needed to be heard and to be known. What it takes is some time and effort to assimilate all the pieces together. The next three chapters are about how to reach the goal of para-bhakti, i.e., the sadhanas (practices). Sutra 34: Tasyaaha sadhanaani gayantyaachaaryaaha Translation: For that (para-bhakti) teachers sing (many) practices. Commentary: “Teachers sing” is a poetic way of describing how the teachers portray various sadhanaas in an artistic manner with a dimension of beauty to it. Sutra 35: Tat tu vishaya-tyaagaat sanga-tyaagaat cha Translation: Now that (goal) by renunciation of worldly things and giving up attachment. Commentary: One of the sadhanas to reach the goal of para-bhakti is by way of renouncing worldly objects and giving up attachment. Renunciation of worldly things is an attitude and an understanding that the worldly objects have only limited value and that they will not give you that inner peace and contentment. The second aspect of this sadhana is giving up attachment. You may intellectually recognize the limited worth of the worldly objects, but not quite accept it emotionally. -
