Route (0km, 11.00) From Chingford station we just cross the road and are into Epping Forest (following London Loop sign). From there we take a grassy path onto the ‘Green Ride’. After 1km we veer left (black arrow) on to the gravel ‘Centenary Walk’. Ignore side branches, always keeping straight ahead. On reaching the ‘Cross Roads’ road, we cross straight over (5km, 11.45). After about another couple of kilometres instead of turning right at the Y junction (blue arrow), we take a slight detour to the left to the Conservation Centre where we take a break for lunch (6.5km, 12.00).

PC Cattaway has been with Essex Police for over 7 years, and has so far spent the majority of his career on the Epping Forest District Local Policing Team. He joined the Community Policing Team in December 2020, and has so far been busy building up relationships with key points of contact within the area to include Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators and Parish Councillors. PC Cattaway works to proactively detect and deter crime through information brought to his attention from the local community. He has responsibility for investigating certain crimes committed within Chigwell and Grange Hill, to include low and medium risk hate crimes. The site was located within an area of archaeological potential and was nearby to the site of Greyfriars Friary and to the south, a possible medieval moated site. Archaeological features were found in three of the four trial trenches comprising several post holes, pits, linear features and structural remains. All features were dated by artefact or circumstantial evidence to the post-medieval or modern periods. The evidence from the trial trenching suggested that the site of the proposed housing development area contained little or no significant archaeological remains.
