Pablo Chino Nuñez Pablo “Chino” Nunez is an accomplished percussionist, multi- instrumentalist, composer, arranger, recording artist, band leader, and educator, multiple Grammy, Latin Grammy and Billboard winner/nominee, he has performed/toured with a verifiable Who’s Who in the world of Latin music, as well as with his own critically acclaimed ensemble the Chino Nunez Orchestra. His diverse recording and performing experience includes work with legendary figures Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco, Marc Anthony, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Ray Barretto, Willie Colon, Ruben Blades, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Larry Harlow, Tito Nieves, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and a host of others. Chino has performed in venues all over the world including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival to name just a few. Adopted as an infant, he is the only son of Puerto Rican immigrants raised in New York City’s Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. Inspired and encouraged at a young age, Chino attributes his success to the “masters” whom he studied from and mentored with idolizing many instrumentalists most notably Tito Puente, Orestes Villato, Nicky Marrero, The Beatles, The Jackson 5, James Brown, Miles Davis, Gil Evans, and Ella Fitzgerald among others. Mr. Nunez’s career spans four decades. Mr. Nunez’s wall of credits as a noted producer, composer, arranger, and musician is innumerable. He has participated in numerous Grammy recordings and his music can be found in compilations all over the world. A respected producer, he is distinctively known for fusing styles with indefatigable, unique and rhythmic swing in Salsa, Big Band, Latin Jazz, Christian, Gospel, Bachata, Reggaeton, Hip Hop and R&B rhythms. He has also participated on Broadway in shows including “The Life of Celia Cruz”, “Evita”, “Cape Man”, “Lion King” and A Tale of Two Cities” featuring his arrangement “Another 100 People”. Chino creates professional, effective and ear-catching voice- overs’ and jingles’ and has participated, performed and/or produced radio and television commercials and even had a cameo role in the major motion picture “Moscow on the Hudson”. Additionally, he has been featured in countless press and magazines including write up’s in the Sun Sentinel (August 2011) and Drum Magazine (June 2008). In 2005, Chino launched his solo career to worldwide acclaim with the highly anticipated release of his debut album “Chino Nunez & Friends, A Tribute to the Dancers, It’s ShoTime” featuring an all-star line-up of musicians from New York City, which he produced and arranged. That CD remains on top play- lists, has received countless recognition and is included in compilations worldwide. “Homenaje Al Bailador” (A Tribute to Dancers) was selected for a film soundtrack. “Chino Nunez, Doctor Salsa” followed in 2007, which he also produced and arranged, is hailed a DJ’s delight with its recipe and powerful combination of all original tracks, recorded by pristine musicians. Chino Nunez Orchestra’s 3rd production will be released in early summer 2013. A respected educator, known for simplistic yet thorough teachings, consultations, and motivational speaking, has earned him worldwide recognition as a pioneer and warrior. His presentations include music conservatories, public schools, dance studios, conferences, conventions and universities, as well as industry standard percussion instructional DVD’s that he produced, performed and narrated, distributed by Latin Percussion and published by Alfred Music Publishing. For the past twenty-five years he has lived in New York. Marco has toured around the world with the top Latin artist: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Chemo Feliciano, Oscar d’ Leon, Tito Nieves, Domingo Quinonez, Jose Alberto and all artists of the RMM record label. Marco’s discography includes: “RMM All Stars 10th Anniversary CD/DVD Live” at Continental Arena NJ; the CD “Recorded a Selena” (RMM), and “Tropical Tribute to the Beatles” CD/DVD recorded live at Radio City Music Hall. At the present, Marco is one of the singers for Spanish Harlem Orchestra. As a singer and composer Bermudez has collaborated on past and present SHO productions providing lyrics for “Son de Corazon” “Regalo de Dios” “Que Bonito” “La Fiesta Empezo.” The upcoming SHO CD, due out in 2014, will bring a couple more of Marcos lyrics to the public. In addition, Marco is one of the singers for Mambo Legends Orchestra, made from the ex-Tito Puente Orquestra, with whom he had recorded two cd’s as a lead back-up singer. The latest being “Watch Out”. Marco was one of the three singers for pianist Isidro Infante’s Elite Orchestra with whom he recorded two albums: “La Elite 2″ and “Licencia para Enganar.” As a duet with his brother Eduardo, he recorded the CD “Pasillos Manabitas” for Success Records label as a Tribute for ”Copa America” in Ecuador(1993). Additionally with Jhonny Almendra y “Los Jovenes del Barrio”, Marco was the lead singer of the “Es Difernte” CD. He also was invited to record his original tune titled “Contrapunto” for the classic/Jazz pianist Uri Caine in CD “The Goldberg Variations”. Marco has been lead singing, recording and touring with Ray Castro’s “Conjunto Clasico” since 2000 to present, and his recordings in 2004 is a Grammy winner CD; “Across 110Th Street”, “United we Swing” and “Viva la Tradicion” with “Spanish Harlem Orchestra”; sharing credits with musicians; Oscar Hernandez, Paul Simon, Ray de la Paz, and the great Ruben Blades. At the present; Marco is also giving final touches to his solo Album, “Marquiviri, Sabor y Sentimiento”; produced by Oscar Hernandez and with the participation of all SHO members; the CD will include Marco’s Original tunes and couple of the all times finest salsa covers.
