There is a long, flat path around the Loch for easy cycling. Accessible café. Disabled toilets. The venue does not have a changing place toilet - however they do have a hoist and changing bench that can be set up on request. Ride 63 Cycling Group Castle Semple Visitor Centre Lochlip Road Lochwinnoch PA12 4EA Tel: 01505 842882 Ride 63 is a cycling group based at Castle Semple,Lochwinnoch. The group is open for anyone to join free of charge. Ride 63 aim to encourage and promote cycling and use the accessible bikes at Lochwinnoch. Ideally Ride 63 prefers that everyone using the bikes is a member of the group so they are insured when using the equipment. To join as a member, please email Ride 63 secretary at: [email protected] for an electronic membership form. Alternatively, paper membership forms can be picked up from the visitors centre but will usually take 2-3 days to process. Also one trike unit with back support, seat belt and foot clamps. Photo ID may be needed to hire. Electric scooter for hire but booking is required in advance by calling the park. Visitor centre and café are wheelchair accessible. Toilet facilities with tracking hoist and height adjustable changing bench are available in the Park Rangers’ Office, next to the Visitor Centre. Access to these facilities can be obtained by contacting the on-site member of staff, 7 days per week 9am – 4.30pm. It is advisable to phone the park to let them know you will need access to these facilities. Visitor Centre/Park Rangers’ Office: open Wednesday – Sunday, 9am - 4.30pm. Eglinton Country Park: open all year round, dawn till dusk. There is a long, flat path around the loch for easy cycling. Accessible upstairs café (although the lift is a bit small). Wheelchair accessible toilet facilities, with a hoist and changing bench – but only big enough for one carer. There are ramps at either side of the entrances to the building. See also section on “Out on the water.” FreeWheel North is based at the Glasgow Green Cycling Centre (next to Templeton Business Centre). They have a range of cycles available for use by all, including a number suitable for people with a range of disabilities - including side by side bikes, hand bikes and the Veloplus bike (pictured). This bike allows a wheelchair to be attached to the front of the bike. Schools and groups are welcome, as well as individuals and families. There is a smooth cycle path as well as a more ‘off road’ track adjacent to the Centre. There is also the option to take the bikes out into Glasgow Green where there are a number of good cycle paths. FreeWheel North is open 6 days per week, Monday–Friday 10am–4pm & Sunday 12pm - 4pm (Closed Saturdays). The cost for using the facilities is £1 per person. Includes Interplay, a play area with facilities for all children, including those with disabilities, with a ‘bucket’ swing with support harnesses available from the Visitor Centre for a small deposit. Café open 10.30am - 4.45pm (Winter), 10.30am – 6.45pm (Summer). Wheelchair accessible toilets but no hoist or changing bench. Disabled parking. Kelvingrove Park Argyle Street Glasgow G3 8AG Tel: 0141 334 6363 Website: www.kelvingrovepark.com Public park right next to Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, and Kelvingrove lawn bowl and tennis pavilion. It is located in the West End of Glasgow just off Argyle Street. Park contains gardens, walking trails, skate park, and bandstand. The River Kelvin passes through the park. Wildlife can be found in the park, including: grey heron, cormorant, kingfisher, red fox and otters. There is a fully accessible Changing Places toilet in Kelvingrove Tennis Pavilion, between the Museum/Art Gallery and the Park. There is also one in Kelvin Hall across from the museum. There is an accessible toilet in Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery – with a bench but no hoist. Linn Park Adventure Playground 145 Netherlee Road Glasgow G44 3ST Tel: 0141 633 1493 Website: www.glasgow.gov.uk Email: [email protected] Indoor and outdoor play facilities people with additional support needs, with experienced play workers on site to support and encourage play.Indoor centre – soft play area, sensory room, a range of toys and musical instruments. Also more structured indoor games – circle games, story telling, drama games, and arts & crafts. Outdoor area – wheelchair accessible swing and roundabout as well as slide, swings, climbing frame and sand pit. Picnic area, and plans for a sensory garden are underway. Disabled toilets with mobile hoists but no bench. There is a fixed height bench in a back room behind the toilets. Open Tuesday – Sunday – with programmed activities throughout the week and during school holidays. Contact park for more information about programmes and activities. Includes sensory room, ball pool, soft play area, outside fixed play equipment, bouncy castle, picnic areas, aromatherapy, pool table, computer games, videos, toys and arts & crafts. Wheelchair accessible toilets with room for 2 carers but no hoist or changing bench. Children's farm - which will appeal to young and old alike. Regulars in the farm are Shire horses, Shetland ponies, aviary, rabbits, sheep, Highland cattle and much more! Tours are available on request by phoning Hugh Boyle on: 07412 760 932. Glen - a nature walk which follows the line of the Tollcross Burn filled with wildlife including bats, foxes and woodpeckers. Secret Garden Picnic benches situated around the park for the enjoyment of visitors from near and far.
