Dear Supporters and Friends: The 54th Ontario Welsh Festival is fast approaching. We invite you to join us on the weekend of April 24-26, 2015 at the Marriott Gateway on the Falls hotel in Niagara Falls. Festival Highlights • Côr Rhuthun in Concert. Côr Rhuthun is one of Wales’ premier mixed choirs having won the National Eisteddfod six times! The choir is led by Robat Arwyn, one of Wales’ most famous and prolific composers. Many well-known songs are amongst his works including: Benedictus , Memory of Stars, Beaujolais Wine and Anfonaf Angel which will be forever linked to Wales’ Air Ambulance Service. Accompanying Côr Rhuthun is Annette Bryn Parri. Annette became an official accompanist at age 15! Today she is one of the most recorded of all piano accompanists in Wales. Annette has accompanied many famous artists including Bryn Terfel, Aled Jones and Rebecca Evans, and has performed for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Prince Charles and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. This promises to be a spectacular evening. • Cymanfaoedd Canu. Led by Robat Arwyn and accompanied by our very own accomplished organist, Alan Thomas, the Cymanfaoedd Canu are the “heart and soul” of our Festival, so please come and raise your voice to our Lord in Praise and Song! • Awr y Plant. This year we welcome a very special visitor to our Children’s Hour. Laura Secord, a Canadian Heroine from the War of 1812 will join us to share her remarkable story. • Heritage Tour of Niagara: The War of 1812. Sign up for our tour of Niagara’s Heritage Sites including Fort George, Laura Secord Homestead, McFarland House, Queenston Heights, Brock Monument and Battle of Chippewa. • Think you know Wales? Ian White will present a slideshow and quiz of famous Welsh landmarks. Come test your knowledge. Ian’s presentation will be followed by “Google Wales” where you will have an opportunity to visit places in Wales of interest to you. • Gold Award Banquet. This year we will honour Harold Woodey and his contribution to ‘Welsh Life’ in Ontario.
