Here's a link to it if you haven't seen it yet: https://www.oxygen.com/the-witnesses Also, The Atlantic magazine uncovered a secret database kept by Jehovah's Witnesses that shows there may be over 18,000 pedophiles in the congregations in the United States alone! Since there are about 12,000 congregations in the country, that would mean every congregation has one or two known child sex predators hiding in them. Here's a link to that article: https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2019/03/the-secret-jehovahs-witness-database-of-child-molesters/584311/ That's a very scary situation for our children because, according to the ocial website of Jehovah's Witnesses (jw.org), there are 89 congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in the city. Jehovah’s Witness Elder sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual abuse

Jehovah’s Witness Elder, Clifford Whiteley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison at the Birmingham Crown Court for sexual abuse offences he committed against a child member of the congregation over ten years ago.

Mr Whiteley initially denied the offences to the police, despite the fact that he had admitted his guilt during an internal investigation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

During court proceedings, Mr Whiteley’s defence counsel, Sharon Bailey, stated that the Jehovah’s Witnesses refused to disclose the details of his confession to the police. They claimed that this was for data protection reasons. The prosecution counsel, Kathryn Orchard, also stated the same.

Mr Whiteley subsequently pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child and three other serious sexual offences. The conviction was secured, unfortunately, without the assistance of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

This case raises some concerning issues about organisational co-operation with the police in the course of an investigation and how this interacts with religious freedoms.

The Jehovah’s Witness organisation conducts its own scriptural investigations in accordance with bible based instruction. This is effectively done to determine whether a sin has been committed in the eyes of the religion. This investigation can include questioning the offender and obtaining his/her version of events. No doubt, this is important and useful information to investigating ocers.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses have argued in the past, unsuccessfully, that the duty of religious condentiality prevents them from disclosing this information. This is not the case. Justice Lieven DBE in a 2020 decision, Lancashire County Council v E & F & Ors, rightly held that this duty, whether arising under the common law or the ECHR, is qualied by the interests of public safety, the protection of health and morals, and the protection of the rights and freedom of others.

Put simply, if a child is in danger or the public interest demands the information be disclosed so a child sex offender can be properly investigated, the duty can be eschewed.

So too is this the case with data protection. There are exceptions to the obligations under, formally, the Data Protection Act and currently, the GDPR which would permit such disclosures. A case involving an investigation into allegations against a person in a position of trust and authority within the religious organisation (as the offender was here) ought to oblige the co- operation of that organisation.

Given the seriousness of the offending and the position of power, trust and authority the offender held within the Jehovah’s Witness congregation where he was an elder, why is it the case that the Jehovah’s Witnesses still refused to assist the authorities?

This is a question which the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse must address in the current hearings into Child Protection in Religious Organisations and Settings. The Jehovah’s Witnesses say they abhor child abuse and take child protection seriously but the mere fact the elders in this congregation failed to assist the police with inquiries says otherwise.

Mrs Justice Lieven said in the Lancashire case that the “evidence points inexorably to [the elders] having protected their and the [abuser’s] religious beliefs at the expense of the protection of the child.”

If the Jehovah’s Witness organisation is to demonstrate that it prioritises child protection then some signicant changes have to be made internally so the organisation is seen to be transparent and cooperative with the police, rather than hiding behind technicalities to protect members who may have harmed a child.

Jay Dubbleya 1 month ago (edited) This is a wonderfully hilarious and somewhat bizarre occurrence to behold! Aled Jones, that lovely chap from , who brought us the theme from (every Xmas: JW children learned to look the other way and NOT sing along), and other musical lozenges of sweetness over the years has, probably unwittingly, used a song from a group that have been so against any kind of inclusive interfaith exchange, and have made their exclusivity the cornerstone of their doctrine: being 'no part of the world' has for a long time been central to their ideology. Now, one of the more recent 'Kingdom Melodies' (as they were once known to JWs') is on Aled's album alongside a range of hymns, spirituals and other songs from a whole range of w did it happen? Witnesses will be split on this issue: some will say things like: 'What a shout of praise to Jehovah's names', while others will be curious as to why permission (if it needed to be given at all) was granted to a man who tours cathedrals on his tours. JWs believe cathedrals to be sanctuaries of false worship: and anyone/any group that do not follow their channel to be part of 'the world empire of false religion'; Babylon the Great. Generations of JW children were not allowed to go into school assemblies and sat in classrooms outside due to parents being told it was not appropriate. This is just a fascinating development of a group that are clearly in need of more royalty revenue: or anything to fund their increasingly costly law-cases that have grown more common since the Australian Royal Commission discovered the groups problem with child abuse. Aled! We applaud you! Will 'Listen Obey and Be Blessed' become a 2020 carol singer's favorite? Show less

Christophe Keating 2 days ago (edited) It's called a compulsory mechanical license for music recordings. As the name (compulsory) suggests, whoever owns the song MUST sell the rights for the limited purposes covered by the licence. Look it up, cover artists use it all the time, as Aled Jones became famous for a cover of a famous song and this whole album is cover songs, I'm pretty sure he knows how the copyright rules work for that.

Betty The Ex-JW 1 month ago @ Rob Day - The comparison was made to show the hypocrisy of WT. If a JW were to sing a religious song such as a Christmas carol the elders would severely counsel or discipline them for mingling with 'Babylon the Great'. However the selling of the rights to a song written for the worship of Jehovah and that it is with a collection of songs of 'Babylon the Great' is extreme hypocrisy. It is hypocrisy to say a non Witness can sing a JW song but a JW cannot sing one of another religions songs. The irony also is if a JW bought the album they would be viewed as being 'bad association' and elders would spank them. It seems clear to any thinking person that money is the real God of the WT. WT is a money grubbing WHORE! Read about the fate of all false religion in Revelation. Jesus is coming. REPLY

Layman Phil 1 month ago @Dickie If nothing happens in the years to come, the WT will be forced to extend the deadline again, this time advancing the date of 2034. At that point, the most submissive Jehovists will take this last maneuver as a new light while the others will continue to feed the incessant ow of departures. 2034 will become the last hope of the JWs. In the meantime, they will all have gone into triple generation "mode". This nal date will no longer technically allow the WT to be able to bounce back biblically. His last cartridge would therefore be to add the "120 years" of Noah to 1914 (Genesis 6:3). Personally, given the global debacle that is already affecting this company, it seems unlikely to me that it can go beyond 2026-2028. Voluntary departures is such a strong and profound trend that it will only intensify over time, the snowball effect will do the rest. The record of 303,000 baptisms for 2019 is shown by the CC as a blessing. Is that the case? In reality, the number of baptisms hides another number that shows the reverse of a so-called blessing. This gure will never be mentioned. These are departures. Indeed, despite the 303,000 baptisms, it is strange to note that the WT gives the gure of 1.3% increase while according to the gures, the percentage should have been around 3.6 !!! What does this tell us. This tells us that in 2019 there were more than 192,000 departures. The WT will of course be careful not to give an explanation between the difference of 303,000 baptisms and the small increase of 1.3%. 2020 will be even more exciting to analyze. I already notice that the WT becomes more and more feverish by multiplying the subjects on the apostates like that of our dear Tony and his famous maggots. The WT is well aware of the scale of this disaster. Only the followers are uninformed like the totally uninformed North Koreans. As this uncontrollable bleeding spreads it is essential that this society show its members that it is still blessed and directed by God. To do this, she will stop at nothing, even if it means once again highlighting the imminence of an end closer than ever. To limit the declineON that is taking shape, the WT is putting all its energy into trying to "boost" the number of baptisms for 2020. Let me explain, the vast majority of baptisms came from JW families itself, pushing the last latecomers to take the plunge under the pressure of covid 19 (the so-called ultimate sign of the last day of the last days). In fact, there were only very few baptized people outside the movement. This will easily be veried in 2021 with a gure which should be calamitous (no one to be baptized). This infernal spiral will be more and more fascinating to observe. Calls for donations will multiply and the term theocratic war will be used more and more. Jeff Peff 1 month ago @Dickie Yes the trinity doctrine is very well stated in the true word of God. In English, that’s the King James Bible, no doubt about it. You make an analogy with your sons, so let me make one also. When a human father begets a son, he is fully human in his nature, and he has all of the same traits of humanity as his father. He is in every way equal to his father, even though he is subject to his fathers authority. Likewise, when God begets a son, he is fully God in his nature, just like his Father, as described in Hebrews chapter 1. That’s WHAT he is, not to be confused with WHO he is. Also, that same chapter in Hebrews tells us that the Son of God is denitely NOT an angel, as Watchtower teaches. Read it in the King James Version that is on JW.org. Show less

Madame Curieous 3 weeks ago @Dickie yes, Jesus appointed the 12 apostles and they had the gifts of the spirit. They were inspired. They have no successors though. Therefore it can err in doctrinal matters ...” (Who is leading God’s people today, paragraph

They discard the former teaching, which were really false teachings and had to be discarded (they call it: “claried”). New teachings - introduced as “new light” - will be changed again some time in the future. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit guides them to the wrong understanding? That would be impossible! The Organization is a hierarchical organization, with leaders JWs have to obey or they will be disfellowshipped! What if you disagree with one of their teachings? Madame Curieous 3 weeks ago (edited) @Dickie , it was before the Holy Spirit was poured out. Yes the apostles did misunderstand the kingdom and the timing. He believed until the day he died (1916) that “The time of the End” started 1799. He believed and taught that Armageddon, God’s Kingdom and the resurrection of “the ancient worthies” would come in 1914. That obviously did not happen, so he was a false teacher and a false prophet. Rutherford taught in his book “The Harp of God” (1921) page 230: “... proof that 1799 denitely marks the beginning of the Time of the End”. He taught this as “the truth”. Was it the truth? Madame Curieous 3 weeks ago @Dickie If you heard it all before, then I must say, I’m surprised that you still defend the ever changing JW teachings as “the truth“! As to your question: I do not know the answer.

REPLY

Dickie 3 weeks ago @Madame Curieous Thank you. I am still one of Jehovah’s Witnesses because I CAN think critically about what they've said and why they have made mistakes in the past. None of that is ever reason to reject their current teachings as they are very well supported by the scriptures and World events. "Supported by scripture and World events", this is key to understanding why errors may have been made in the past. You see, when using the scriptures to assertain where you are in the stream of time it becomes quickly apparent that adjustments need to be made because an unforeseen event might happen, or a worldly government might appear, or any number of things may need to be taken in to account. One solution to this would be to ignore bible prophecy altogether, but that wouldn't be very Christian now would it? The Bible doesn't give prophecy in complete details, only pointers and event markers that should guide us! It's interesting that you say you don't know whether we're living in the last days. Most Christians have some opinion on it, considering Jesus spending so much time talking about his kingdom coming, leading to the obvious question of "when?".

My follow up questions would be: Why didn't the Apostles teach the congregations that the last days and Armageddon (Rev. 16:16) wouldn't come for another 2000 years? In fact, why did they all seem to teach that it was imminent? Do we put the Apostles into your "false teachers" category as well? Or do we agree that they too were teaching prophecy according to "the scriptures and World events"? Show less

REPLY

Madame Curieous 3 weeks ago @Dickie you know, the questions you are asking are interesting! But the JW organization obviously doesn’t know the answers either. So no organization is needed. We need to read our Bible and apply it the best we can. It’s not good to follow men. Another practice I cannot accept is child baptism.the Bible tells us that only men and women were baptized. Watchtower April 1, 2006, pages 26-28, paragraph 8 says that in the rst century only ADULTS were baptized. A child should never enter a lifelong binding “contract”. When they get older and decide they don’t want be a JW anymore, they will be shunned by their own JW family and all JW friends. That is awful!!! Families are destroyed. Shunning is a form of group bullying and Christians should never engage in it. Jesus did not shun anyone! He had conversations with the Pharisees (apostates) and tax collectors and he dined with them. Don’t you agree that we should follow his example? Show less

REPLY

Dickie 3 weeks ago @Madame Curieous So, I am assuming you wouldn’t have been baptised by Jesus or any of his apostles in the 1st century should you have lived at that time?

You said -“We need to read our Bible and apply it the best we can.” Agreed… the best we can includes listening to God. But what about when God says we should listen to men that are qualied to teach us spiritual truth For example Acts 8:30 Phillip asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was qualied to teach us spiritual truth. For example Acts 8:30, Phillip asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was reading from the bible, the Ethiopian responded by saying “how can I? unless someone guides me”. Who should do the guiding on God’s behalf?? You seem adamant it’s not JW’s, so, who is it then? Actually, the GB never said that youths cannot get baptised, what you’re referring to was a quote from a historian. It would be rare for children (under 18’s) to be baptised. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2006245 Your point about Jesus and shunning. I would just point out that Jesus is about to destroy the wicked in a global event called Armageddon (Matt. 25:31 onwards), which is a few notches above shunning I'm sure you'll agree. So, as I pointed out to you before, shunning worked with me, and I stopped my destructive behaviour and sort forgiveness from God, and was forgiven. A question on shunning: What was the punishment for Adultery in ancient Israel, and where in the bible does it say that God doesn’t change? ow less

Dickie 3 weeks ago @Madame Curieous Rather than hand wave me away to go read stuff that I’ve read a hundred times already, why not discuss certain point from those materials with me? That would be much more interesting? I would guess that you’ve not spoken directly with many JW’s in detail in the past. You’ve probably only read stuff disgruntled JW’s write on the internet? I sense this because many of your charges against the organization follow the logic that “here’s a group of human’s who have made mistakes in the past, therefore they cannot be God’s true people!” I asked you certain questions regarding this that you seem to have missed… For example: Did you realize that the spirit anointed Apostles taught that the end times were imminent? The end times obviously weren’t imminent, were they? ese were men personally selected by Jesus (as you pointed out), so please explain to me why you DON’T hold the Apostles to the same ridiculous standard that you hold another group of imperfect men 2000 years later? Do you really have a problem with men changing their teachings when it becomes apparent that they are incorrect? That’s a very strange standard to have!! As an “individualist” Christian, please explain why God had an organized group in the 1st century, and why he wouldn’t have an organized group in an arguably more important time called the last days, 2Tim. 3:1-5? Jehovah’s Witnesses today are by far the most scripturally signicant group on the planet. We preach in every single sovereign nation on earth Matt. 24:14, no other group come even close to this. We have exposed many false teachings, traditions and doctrines everywhere we go. If there’s a group teaching scriptural truth on earth today, that group would be called Jehovah’s Witnesses, Isa. 43:10. Interesting that you don’t believe in the Trinity. This puts you at odds with 99% of the other Christian religions. Another logical question: What happens to all those people that spread false teachings like the Trinity doctrine? Also, if God simply forgives them all (as I’m guessing you’d believe!), then why don’t we all just simply follow suit? It would be a much more peaceful life that’s for sure. I guess my overall question is: Why does truth matter so much to you? Anyway, show me a current JW teaching that you feel is false, and we can discuss. How about “shunning”, you’ve mentioned this a few times now. Why do JW’s remove adulterers, paedophiles and drunkards from the congregation for example? You don't know me. Firstly, I might not be a JW, but I AM a Child of God. I also don't understand where you get the idea I'm trying to plant hatred!? That's being very ignominious. I was asking you for your opinion on the FACTS surrounding a potential copyright breach. I still don't have a clear answer from you whether you 1.believe the Artist, Aled, has stolen copyrighted material or 2.whether Watchtower has given him permission to use it? My opinion is the latter for the following reasons. He asked Dame Judi Dench for her permission, so in the name of consistency, I would expect him to ASK Watchtower. Being his 40th album, I wouldn't have thought he'd be a stranger to copyright laws. So, if Watchtower HAVE given him permission, then people have a right to speak out against that. It is perfectly Biblical to bring about a harsh rebuke when wrongdoing is done. That isn't bringing hatred. Show less

Yummy irl 1 month ago I love the idea of an interfaith album in theory. The inclusion of this song feels rather discordant, though, due to the ocial Jehovah's Witness teaching that all other religions than their own are controlled by Satan and to step into any other church is to open yourself up to his inuence. This alone would be grounds for "discipline" and potentially excommunication if the person was believed to be unrepentant, never mind singing along in enthusiastic participation while there! Meanwhile, Jehovah's Witness children face widespread abuse and death due to ocial policies which put child victims face to face with their sex abusers during internal investigation (where verication depends on the abuser confessing and involving the secular authorities is discouraged) and which strictly prohibit blood transfusions even for minors. (A brief Google search on these topics should provide enough hard evidence to make any responsible adult's skin crawl. There's also a beautiful lm called Apostasy available on iplayer atm for anyone interested in the human cost of this religion.) I have no doubt whatsoever this song was included in good faith. But it feels very out of tune on an album promoting religious inclusivity and "common ground" in the spiritual experience. Show less

Anyway, I still have the 2009 Sing to Jehovah songbook with that phallus on the back cover. 1000 words.

Get out of her my people, if you don't want to share in her sins and receive part of plagues. This is clear instruction, and it is possible to obey this and follow Jesus directly. If ever that slave starts to beat his fellow slaves, then Jesus will give him a part with the hypocrites. That's what is happening to the governing body currently.

B Buttercup 1 month ago @Rob Day speaking of artists and music- what do you think of the picture on the back of the 2009 Sing to Jehovah songbook? They changed the man out on this picture in the 2010 edition, cause it apparently was brought to their attention. No announcements from the podium, and most publishers held the phallus songbook for 7 years, facing the podium right before the prayer. Food at the proper time indeed.

RiverDanube 1 month ago @Rob Day You are partly right in that my statement was incorrect. Without doubt, Watchtower has false teachings but as it is, you choose to remain a JW (of sorts, as JWs must be obedient to the GB and by posting here, you are not).

Not all JWs teachings are false but some are and I not only think that, but more importantly, I know that. JWs claim their teachings are bible based and clearly, not all of them are. Let's take their denition of 'this generation' mentioned in Matt. ON 24. That teaching is not in the Bible and is a construct of man or men.

The GB are free to instruct the Watchtower to purchase anything it wants to advance their variety of religion. Show less

Wildchildgirly 1 month ago @Olivia Ensor please take the time to do the objective research Karen mentions here. Just because you’re been told something by an organization that has a vested interest in keeping you in the dark about the realities of child sx abuse in the organization doesn’t mean it represents the facts. And ask yourself how many child molesters you know of in your congregation. Seriously. Consider how many cases you know of personally. Then ask your friends how many cases they know of personally. Then please realize that it is not isolated to your congregation and your area. It is a problem worldwide. For me, that was the kicker, when I realized the congregation I grew up in wasn’t a unique case. Between the two congregations that shared the hall I grew up going to, there were 8 child molesters. And those are the ones I knew about. Show less

2 REPLY Annabelle Gatehouse 1 month ago @Olivia Ensor They are a fucking cult and one of the worst for covering up abuse. Take it from another former JW who has family members who were abused and that abuser continued to be a prominent member of his congregation.

Bob Oak 1 month ago @Annabelle Gatehouse I am so, so sorry for the harm and pain that has been inicted on your family. I am even sadder that the abuser is still permitted in a position that enables him access to harm others. The organisation will eventually change because of the actions of brave people shining a light on this problem. Thank you.

In all my years attending multiple Kingdom Halls I have never once been warned about a single abuser. I too have found after the fact that my children were exposed to multiple alleged predators in each Kingdom Hall, in preaching and at social events. Had they been reported to police I have no doubt many of them would now be convicted rather than just alleged.

I’m from Australia where we have some insights into the prevalence of this problem (we had 762 congregations and much fewer Kingdom Halls as at 1 July 2020). Statistically there are enough predators for there to be multiple in each Kingdom Hall. It’s so scary. Show less

Half way down the page its states... ______As Blessings had no xed parameters, Aled enlisted his long-term collaborator and good friend, composer Howard odhall. Loving Kindness incorporates Eastern Hindu and Buddhist texts of peace, love and kindness – the basic ethos of the album

“We both did a lot of research for this. Going out of our comfort zone was a real learning curve. The powerful message of this piece is that we are all the same.”

Listen, Obey And Be Blessed – a modern JEHOVAHS WITNESS Blessing – proved to be an unexpected gem for Aled. ______“Ian and I weren’t familiar with this song at all. It was like nothing I had recorded previously– taking me out of my comfort area, challenging my voice, widening my perspective, that’s really what it’s all about”THE SONG IS BEING USED UNDER THE TOTAL AUTHORISATION OF WATCHTOWER....

Could you direct me to the part where it says "When elders learn of an allegation of child sexual abuse, the must immediately consult with the authorities" Does it say that? You do know what Romans 13, 1-14 stipulated don't you? Furthermore you do know what 1 Corinthians 5, 1-8 says, don't you?

I have already formulated a response down to what I experienced in there, what I understand should be done based on bible principles. Ask your elders why they do not go straight to the authorities on these matters. In fact - DON'T. I don't want you to suffer the same fate as the rest of us and get yourself disfellowshipped.

I know God is with me when I speak and use his sword. God is not with Watchtower - Jw dot org. I don't think he ever was to be honest. Turn to his word and only trust in that.

USE BLEACH usebleach 1 month ago @Frozen Willow Thank you for your mild response. However, as you have said that you are currently disfellowshipped, I am not allowed to continue conversing with you(1 Corinthians 5:11-13).

REPLY Frozen Willow 1 month ago @USE BLEACH usebleach Yeah but you are allowed to continue conversing with my father the pedo. Makes loads of sense.

I love how you take that scripture out of context.

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father's wife. (A man is sleeping with his wife's daughter) And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgement in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am h you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the esh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch-as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacriced. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

You JW's IGNORE that scripture. Your elders disfellowshipped me for blowing the whistle - chew over that one for a while. I am anonymous in Panorama, Suffer the little children to get you to change your wicked ways. That program was put out there in 2002 to highlight the cover ups and the damages to childhoods - mine included. That is why I was disfellowshipped. I get kicked out and my pedo father? He's still there consorting with you all. You sit at the table of demons and pretend to sit at the table of God. You ride the wild beast. Your organisation is part of the harlot Revelation talked about. I will have no part in such immorality. Good day. Show less

"... but if you care to read the policy on Child Abuse..."

Any policy that starts with,

"We abhor Child Sexual Abuse" (let's not mince words here - it's RAPE)

but doesn't go on to say,

"We recognise that we are not trained nor equipped to investigate or deal with the physical & psychological fallout of ANY instance of CHILD RAPE - nor can we even prove that any allegation is either true or false - so we report them all to the authorities who know what they're doing..."

isn't a policy - IT'S A COP-OUT!

So, excuse me while I correct your reply: "... but if you care to read the policy on Child Abuse, you'll nd it isn't worth the paper it's written on. "

(AS AN ASIDE: The phrase "Let's agree to disagree" is usually uttered by weak people who KNOW they have no coherent argument. It is employed in an attempt to shut the conversation down.) Show less
