2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Monday, July 1, 2019 - 7:05 P.M 2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Monday, July 1, 2019 - 7:05 p.m. Dunkin Donuts Park -- Hartford, CT Bowie Baysox (39-41, 9-3) @ Hartford Yard Goats (42-37, 5-7) LHP Alex Wells (5-1, 1.97 ERA) vs. RHP Ben Meyer (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Game #81 // Road Game #39 2019 SEASON In Case You Missed It: The Baysox five-game winning streak came to an end yesterday as they were defeated by Overall Record 39-41, 9-3 the Akron RubberDucks 5-0. Bowie only managed two hits on the afternoon. The Baysox received strong work from Home Record 21-21 the bullpen in the loss, with Pedro Araujo and Tyler Erwin combining to pitch 4.0 scoreless innings of relief. Road Record 18-20 Versus Eastern Division 16-8 Baysox Starter: LHP Alex Wells will be making his 13th start of the year for the Baysox today. Wells, who was Versus Western Division 23-33 named an Eastern League All-Star last week, is making his second consecutive start against Hartford. Last week in Current Streak L1 Bowie, Wells pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits in a no-decision. After a giving up three Last Homestand 5-2 runs (two earned) in the first inning, Wells posted six consecutive zeroes to finish his outing. Wells also started Last Road Trip 5-1 against Hartford on June 2, and tossed a season-high 7.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and picking up a win. With his All-Star selection this year, Wells continued his streak of being named an All-Star in each of his Last 5 Games 4-1 professional seasons: 2016 in Aberdeen, 2017 in Delmarva, 2018 in Frederick and 2019 in Bowie. Last 10 Games 7-3 When Scoring 4+ Runs 28-10 In the Other Corner: RHP Ben Meyer will be making his first appearance in the Rockies' organization today, after When Scoring 3- Runs 11-31 being released by the Marlins on June 25. Meyer had made 14 starts with Triple-A New Orleans and posted a 7.43 After Day Off 5-7 ERA in 63.0 innings before being released. In 2018, Meyer had a 4.24 ERA in 63.2 innings with New Orleans. After taking three of four at Night Games 29-25 home against Akron over the weekend, the Baysox have now won eight consecutive series. On the mound, LHP Alex Outhit Opponent 28-7 Wells has posted a 1.84 ERA in two starts against Hartford and LHP Bruce Zimmermann pitched a complete game four-hit shutout at Dunkin Donuts Park. Hit a Home Run 28-14 Offensively, INF Mason McCoy is hitting .340 in 22 road games this season. He has hit his only home run away from No Home Runs 11-27 home and has driven in nine of his 12 runs on the road. In 37 road games, INF Rylan Bannon in hitting .318 with No Errors Committed 26-17 two home runs and 12 RBI. On the mound, LHP Alex Wells in pitching to a 1.62 ERA in seven road starts this season. Baysox vs. Hartford RHP Cristian Alvarado has a 1.40 ERA in 19.1 innings away from home and RHP Francisco Jimenez has posted a 1.46 ERA in six road appearances. 2019 Record: 6-3 All-Stars: INF Mason McCoy, INF Rylan Bannon, LHP Zac Lowther and LHP Alex Wells were all named Eastern 5/31 vs. Hartford L, 2-1 League All-Stars on Monday. McCoy is currently the Eastern League leader in hitting with a .325 batting average, 6/1 vs. Hartford L, 3-1 while Bannon has drive in 28 runs. Lowther and Wells each rank in the top five in the Eastern League in ERA and 6/2 vs. Hartford W, 5-2 have eached taken home an Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honor. 6/18 at Hartford W, 2-0 6/19 at Hartford W, 10-8 McCoy's Impact: INF Mason McCoy joined the Baysox on May 6 before a series in Altoona, and the team has taken 6/20 at Hartford W, 5-1 off since his addition. At the time McCoy was added to the roster, Bowie was 7-23. Since then, the club is 32-18, and 6/24 vs. Hartford L, 3-2 has five winning streaks of at least four games. In 49 games, McCoy is batting .322 with one home run, 13 RBI, 34 6/25 vs. Hartford W, 7-2 runs, nine doubles, four triples, 22 walks and four stolen bases. Portland scored one run in that sixth to take a 1-0 lead, but Bowie tied the game in the Road Record 13-19 top of the seventh on an RBI double from Preston Palmeiro.
