2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Tuesday, June 25, 2019 - 7:05 P.M 2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Tuesday, June 25, 2019 - 7:05 p.m. Prince George's Stadium -- Bowie, MD Hartford Yard Goats (40-33, 3-3) @ Bowie Baysox (34-40, 4-2) LHP Matt Whitehouse (3-1, 4.50 ERA) vs. LHP Zac Lowther (7-4, 1.95 ERA) Game #75 (Game #7) // Home Game #37 2019 SEASON In Case You Missed It: The Baysox dropped the series opener against Hartford by a score of 3-2. The Yard Goats Overall Record 34-40, 4-2 took the early lead, when Manuel Melendez led off the game with a home run. Hartford added another run in the Home Record 16-20 third inning on a wild pitch, making it 2-0. Bowie fought back to tie the game in the fourth inning on a solo home Road Record 18-20 run from Carlos Perez and an RBI double from Willy Yahn. Hartford scored the game deciding run in the seventh Versus Eastern Division 14-8 inning on an RBI single, making it 3-2. The Yard Goats bullpen was able to keep the Baysox off the board from that Versus Western Division 20-32 point on. Current Streak L2 Current Homestand 0-1 Baysox Starter: LHP Zac Lowther will be making his 14th start of the year for the Baysox today. Lowther, who was Last Road Trip 5-1 named an Eastern League All-Star on Monday, enters tonight with a 1.95 ERA, good for fourth in the league. In his last start in Hartford, Lowther earned the win and helped complete a series sweep, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing Last 5 Games 3-2 just one run on two hits. Lowther has now won three consecutive starts. For the season, Lowther has not allowed Last 10 Games 7-3 an earned run in six of his starts and has allowed three hits or less seven times. When Scoring 4+ Runs 24-10 When Scoring 3- Runs 10-30 In the Other Corner: LHP Matt Whitehouse is making his first appearance as a member of the Rockies After Day Off 5-7 organization today. The 28-year-old was released by the Indians on June 17, and signed to a minor league contract In Shutouts 6-10 by Colorado five days later. Whitehouse is an Eastern League veteran, as this was his third season spending time In 1-Run Games 7-10 with AA-Akron. With the RubberDucks in 2019, Whitehouse had only pitched out of the bullpen, and posted a 4.50 ERA in 22.0 innings. Whitehouse also made nine appearances with AAA-Columbus and was 1-1 with a 9.69 ERA in In 2-Run Games 8-7 13.0 innings of work. In 2018, Whitehouse posted a 2.63 ERA in 65.0 innings with Akron. vs. Left-Handed Starters 10-11 vs. Right-Handed Starters 24-29 Red Hot Baysox: Over the last few weeks, the Baysox have been the hottest team in the Eastern League. McCoy is currently the Eastern League leader in hitting with a .333 batting average. Bannon is the active team leader in RBIs with 27. Lowther and Wells each rank in the top five in the Eastern League Ahead After 8 Innings 27-0 in ERA and have eached taken home an Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honor. Behind After 8 Innings 2-31 Tied After 8 Innings 5-5 McCoy's Impact: INF Mason McCoy joined the Baysox on May 6 before a series in Altoona, and the team has taken In Extra Innings 5-3 off since his addition. At the time McCoy was added to the roster, Bowie was 7-23. Since then, the club is 27-17, and In Doubleheaders 0-4 has three winning streaks of at least four games. Not to be outdone, Zimmermann pitched a complete No Errors Committed 23-16 game four-hit shutout in Hartford on June 18. Baysox vs. Hartford Top Tier Talent: The Bowie Baysox roster is filled with some of the top prospects in the Orioles' farm system. 2019 Record: 4-3 According to MLB.com, 11 of the top 30 prospects in the organization are in Bowie. Outfielder Yusniel Diaz (#2), , Outielder Ryan McKenna (#7), Left-Handed Pitcher Zac Lowther (#8) and Right-Handed Pitcher Dean Kremer 5/31 vs. Hartford L, 2-1 (#9) rank in the Orioles' top ten. Britton replaces 6/20 at Hartford W, 5-1 Gary Kendall, who was the head man in Bowie from 2011-2018. Britton picked up his first victory as a AA manager 6/24 vs. Hartford L, 3-2 on April 7 against the Harrisburg Senators. Last season, Britton managed the Delmarva Shorebirds, leading the 6/25 vs. Hartford club to a 68-66 record. Prior to getting into coaching, Britton played nine seasons in Minor League Baseball, and 6/26 vs. Hartford spent parts of 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 with the Baysox.
