When a title is lost during the game and is not taken by a specific player, it is given to the player (aside from the one who is losing the title) whos is able to hold the title and is highest in the title’s order of succession. The Series is supposed to take place 58 years prior to the first Cylon war. Adama wouldn't appear to be more than in his 50s at the end of BSG. I wonder how that will be explained. I don't remember any reference to Time travel in BSG. I know it will be some time before the show even has to consider that . Downloading Doppelgängers: New Media Anxieties and Transnational Ironies in Battlestar Galactica Battlestar Galactica (US 2004-09) has become a phenomenally popular fictional show in an age of ‘reality’ programmes. A pointedly post 9/11 updating of Glen A. Larson’s 1970s broadcast series of the same name, the new Battlestar has produced ardent fan communities across the USA. Thanks to its international circulation, it has also generated a strong global audience. Much of its popularity derives from the creative liberties that executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have taken with Larson’s series. Far from being a niche sf programme, it reworks the original with more and stronger female characters, and has season-spanning serial drama storylines as soap operatic as they are space operatic. It consistently and creatively elaborates on its premise as an allegory of the USA’s twenty-first century ‘war on terror’. There is, however, another war being fought in the remade Battlestar, a guerrilla-style culture war that is, in its articulation of cultural economic problems in intellectual property (IP) and transnational productions, as timely as the show’s post-9/11 theme.

It argues that reflection on technical legality reveals the mythic of modernity. The starting point for the argument is that the orthodox framing of technology by law – the ‘law and technology enterprise’ – does not comprehend its own speculative jurisdiction – that is, it fails to realise its oracle orientation towards imagining the future. In this science fiction as the modern West’s mythform, as the repository for projections of technological futures, is recognised as both the law and technology enterprise’s wellspring and cipher. What is offered in this thesis is a more thorough exploration of technical legality through taking science fiction seriously. This seriousness results in two implications for the understanding of technical legality. The first implication is that the anxieties and fantasies that animate the calling forth of law by technology become clearer.

Exploring the consequences of such differences is the traditional purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas". Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possibilities. The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality. Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or settings. Many works within the genre take place on fictional planes or planets where magic is common. Fantasy is generally distinguished from science fiction and horror by the expectation that it steers clear of scientific and macabre themes, respectively, though there is a great deal of overlap between the three (which are subgenres of speculative fiction).

Chapter 12 The Eighteenth Brumaire of Gaius Baltar: Colonialism Reimagined in Battlestar Galactica Laura King and John Hutnyk Brumaire was the second month in the French Republican Calendar. The month was named after the French word brume (mist) which occurs frequently at that time of the year. Wikipedia – accessed 26 August 2007 In The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, Marx notes that the philosopher G.W.F. Hegel had observed that “all the great events and characters of world history occur twice” (Marx 1852/2002:19). To this Marx added the wry observa- tion that this repetition meant that the second time round things happened as farce. Few would disagree that this sentiment captures a key element of contemporary political drama. The U.S./British presence in parts of the Middle East seems to be a restaging of the old colonial script. The son follows the path of the father, not so much with a coup d’état as the ‘little nephew’ had followed Napoleon’s overthrow of the French Government in 1799, but where the ‘War-On-Terror’ repeats and expands the atrocities of the Gulf War, where the manufacture of the Al Qaeda threat caricatures the Evil Empire of old, where the spectre of ‘unfinished business’ (in Vietnam) haunts the regime and is used to restore a pyrrhic ‘pride’ in the armed forces and the nation. We note many examples where the repertoire of demons and scenarios is doubled in horrific yet untenable parallel: Most recently, in August 2007, George W. Bush went so far as to think of Iraq as a new Vietnam and used this as reason for never contemplating an end to the war.1 The War-On-Terror is construed as permanent, cannot be stopped and brings new terrors.
