Iyengar Ruth Ann Bradley is an Intermediate Junior II Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. She is the founder and owner of the Yoga Institute of Broward in Cooper City, Florida, established in 1998. (www.yogabroward.com) Ruth falls in the ranKs of countless others that have turned to Iyengar yoga to find relief and healing after a life-changing event. A horse racing accident in 1985 left her with numerous broKen bones in her leg, anKle and foot. With the help of Iyengar yoga, she feels she was better equipped to deal with the 28 years of chronic pain that eventually led her to a Total AnKle Replacement in 2013. Ruth says: “My attraction to yoga started at a young age when I spotted one of those ‘pocKet booKs’ sold at the grocery store checKout lines. At the time, the booK cost maybe 25 cents and the photo on the front was a woman standing on her head. I convinced my mother to buy it for me and that is what started my yoga practice. It was the greatest gift she gave me, just as it is said that the inverted poses are the greatest gift to humanity.” In addition to her travels to India to study with the Iyengar family, she continues her studies with Colleen Gallagher, Mary Reilly and Manouso Manos. -

A SURVEY of YOUTH YOGA CURRICULUMS a Dissertation
A SURVEY OF YOUTH YOGA CURRICULUMS A Dissertation Submitted to The Temple University Graduate Board in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY By Robin A. Lowry August, 2011 Examining Committee Members: Ricky Swalm, Advisory Chair, Kinesiology Michael Sachs, Kinesiology Catherine Schifter, Education Jay Segal, Public Health ii © Copyright By Robin A. Lowry 2011 All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT A SURVEY OF YOUTH YOGA CURRICULUMS By Robin A. Lowry Doctor of Philosophy Temple University, 2011 Doctoral Advisory Committee Chair: Ricky Swalm, Ph. D. Introduction: Yoga is increasingly recommended for the K-12 population as a health intervention, a Physical Education activity, and for fun. What constitutes Yoga however, what is taught, and how it is taught, is variable. The purpose of this study was to survey Youth Yoga curriculums to identify content, teaching strategies, and assessments; dimensions of wellness addressed; whether national Health and Physical Education (HPE) standards were met; strategies to manage implementation fidelity; and shared constructs between Yoga and educational psychology. Methods: A descriptive qualitative design included a preliminary survey (n = 206) and interview (n = 1), questionnaires for curriculum developers (n = 9) and teachers (n = 5), interviews of developers and teachers (n = 3), lesson observations (n= 3), and a review of curriculum manuals. Results: Yoga content was adapted from elements associated with the Yoga Sutras but mostly from modern texts, interpretations, and personal experiences. Curriculums were not consistently mapped, nor elements defined. Non-Yoga content included games, music, and storytelling, which were used to teach Yoga postures and improve concentration, balance, and meta-cognitive skills. -

True Psychology. Calcutta: Ramakrishna Vedanta Math, 1982. “Modern Psychology does not [address] ‘a science of the soul.’ True Psychology, on the other hand, is that science which consists of the systematization and classification of truths relating to the soul or that self-conscious entity which thinks, feels and knows.” Agnello, Nicolò. -

2019 PROGRAMS 2019 sivanandayogaranch.org | 845.436.6492 sivanandayogaranch.org | 845.436.6492 WELCOME TO THE YOGA RANCH Om Namo Narayanaya, Blessed Self, Whether you are considering your first Yoga Vacation, or a residential Yoga Teacher Training Course, or you are a Yoga teacher preparing for a more advanced training, or an old friend of the Ashram returning to nourish your personal practice with a seasonal Yoga Retreat, we welcome you. And we especially welcome you who are relatively new to Yoga and Ashram life. We would like to prepare you for a new kind of unforgettable vacation. What is your “bottom line” for a vacation? A vacation is both a renewal and a reward for many hours of hard work that have opened the space in life where you can get away, rest and renew, and reconnect to what is really meaningful. Yoga, by definition, is that reconnection and renewal. Yoga— physically, emotionally, philosophically, integrally, mystically, and spiritually— offers pathways to that reconnection. It can be hard work, but it is work that strengthens, invigorates, and nourishes the body, mind, and soul. Come join us to rediscover your inner sacred space with twice daily Yoga asana classes and meditation satsangs. Explore the sacred nature that feeds our bodies, minds, and souls with quiet forest walks, or dig into the Ashram gardens that provide us with fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The bottom line of Yoga living is delving into the sacred. This is the goal of an Ashram vacation. Dive deep within and reconnect to the sacred. Find sacred silence. -

Alignment Yoga
Alignment Yoga Advanced Studies/ Teacher Training with Scott Anderson 2010/11 www.AlignmentYoga.com Welcome to Alignment Yoga Thank you for examining Alignment Yoga’s Advanced Studies Program. Whether you desire a deepening understanding of your practice and/or aspire to teach, we have the experience and expertise to facilitate your growth. This program is based on Scott Anderson’s more than 20 years of teaching and 15 years training teachers. Participants will receive extensive instruction in the art & science of Hatha Yoga and the skills needed to safely & competently teach this ancient practice. Many yoga schools teach the outer form of yoga postures (a knee here, an elbow there…), but neglect teaching the art of modifying the techniques to the needs of individuals. We emphasize that form follows function in the practice of Hatha Yoga. Rather than memorizing endless names and details, you will be encouraged to think for yourself as you refine your observational skills. We firmly believe, to paraphrase the old adage, it’s better to teach a man to fish than to simply give him a fish to eat. Trying to be everything to everybody generally dooms an endeavor to mediocrity. Every program director is thus faced with choices – their priority list, so to speak. While our program complies faithfully with Yoga Alliance National Certification Guidelines, we’ve placed particular emphasis in two areas. • Our exploration of the techniques of asana, pranayama, bandha and kriya are comprehensive and backed with a rigorous study of anatomy & physiology. You will understand not only the inner workings of these techniques, but develop an extensive array of techniques to transmit your understanding to your students. -

Absolutely, Positively, Vinyasa Flow Yoga 200Hr Teacher Training with Mercedes Sieff Vinyasa Flow Yoga + Positive Psychology
Absolutely, Positively, Vinyasa Flow Yoga 200hr Teacher Training with Mercedes Sieff Vinyasa Flow Yoga + Positive Psychology January - June 2019 London, England yeotown.com Absolutely, Positively, Vinyasa Flow Yoga 200hr Teacher Training with Mercedes Sieff Vinyasa Flow Yoga + Positive Psychology 1 Becoming a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher a note from course Director Mercedes Sieff… BECOMING A VINYASA FLOW YOGA TEACHER YOGA FLOW A VINYASA BECOMING When I first started teaching, a long-time globally respected teacher told me that it takes at least a minimum of 12 years of teaching Vinyasa Flow Yoga full-time to be a good Teacher Trainer. This was the minimum amount of time she felt was needed to be able to authentically and effectively guide others how to teach its very particular layered methodology which makes it so unique. At the time, I wasn’t exactly sure what she meant, as surely everyone evolves as a Teacher Trainer in their own time - some faster, some slower I thought? But as I enter my 13th year of teaching Vinyasa Flow Yoga, I now realise how true her words were. I now better comprehend why a great teacher trainer should have at least over a decade of full-time teaching experience in order to have a genuine understanding and ability to teach others how to teach. Absolutely, Positively, Vinyasa Flow Yoga 200hr Teacher Training with Mercedes Sieff Vinyasa Flow Yoga + Positive Psychology 2 As opposed to a set sequence that needs to be adhered to, or any my mistakes, my learning curve and how I consistently use my top particular rules or guidelines in general, Vinyasa Flow Yoga has character strengths to create inspirational and unique Vinyasa Flow none of these. -
