CLUB NEWS Hola Mustangs! Spanish Club is going to be having a fiesta on Friday April 5th! You can get a FREE ticket to the fiesta by winning the jalapeño eating contest on April 3rd in the quad at snack. We will be serving up Celinda's flautas, rice, beans, chips, and water all for only $5 for members, and $7 for non members! We’ll be selling tickets in the quad during lunch and snack from the first until the day of the fiesta. Make sure to get yours before they’re all sold out!

SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer School registration documents are now available.

 Depending on the academic needs of the student, SVUSD high school students have different summer school program opportunities for credit recovery and, under certain conditions, original credit.  Because each program is unique, it is important that you meet with your Guidance Counselor or Guidance Technician to determine which program and course(s) you need to enroll.  All programs are available to high school students only who will attend a SVUSD high school in the fall of 2019, SVUSD summer graduate seniors, and students who live within the SVUSD boundaries.  For more information, please contact your school's guidance office.  Summer school information is available for the public on the district website under the programs tab: https://www.svusd.org/programs/summerschool

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SENIORS FROM THE DISCIPLINE OFFICE

Dear Student/Parents,

As the excitement of graduation approaches, it is imperative that you are aware of the privileges program, demerits, and the impact that it may have on your student(s).

Demerits are accumulated by students for receiving detentions and Saturday Schools. Demerits can be removed by serving detention (1 hour removes 1 demerit) or a Saturday School (Saturday School removes 6 demerits) or Saturday Academy (removes 6 demerits and students have opportunity to make up missing assignments with teacher permission). Detentions may be served Tuesday through Thursday before or after school, 7:02 a.m.- 7:56 a.m., 2:08 p.m.-3:02 p.m. and 3:08 p.m.-4:00 p.m. in room 139 (next to guidance).

Seniors must clear all of their demerits by May 31st, 2019 in order to participate in all of the senior activities, which include prom, senior week and the commencement ceremony.

Boys Volleyball Cancer Awareness Night April 3, 2019

The Ceramics Club and Ceramic Buddies (Mrs. Johnson’s students) are collecting new and gently used shoes. The shoes will be donated to South County Outreach. SCO serves the Orange County homeless and disadvantaged populations. If you have a pair of shoes that you wish to donate, please bring them to Mrs. Fait’s room (311) or Mrs. Johnson’s room (305). SCO is also asking for canned food, so we will be collecting canned food at the same time. Our Shoe and Food Drive will end with the Annual Shoe Show in the quad May 31st. Let us all be thankful for what we have and compassionate to those who do not have. Thanks for being a part of this annual GO BLUE event!!!

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to Trey Munoz who won Nationals this past weekend in Virginia Beach! Trey went into the tournament ranked 10th in the Nation but now is the top wrestler in the 170 lbs. weight class! Trey will be featured in the upcoming USA Wrestler Magazine covering all the high school All-Americans. Great job Trey representing not only Trabuco Hills but the entire State of California!!

Boys Lacrosse

Last week was victorious for varsity with 3 wins. They had 2 tough games against Lakewood, Co (16-14) and San Clemente (13-7) and a win against El Toro (27-4), leaving them with a 9-1 record.

ELAC MEETING/JUNTA ELAC

ELAC meetings target the parents of EL students and welcome the parents of students who have become fluent in English, or anyone that would like to attend.

Scholarship Highlight

ATTENTION SENIORS!!! Do you need money for college? The THHS PTSA is offering four scholarships worth $500 each to graduating seniors who are student members of PTSA. Applications for these four scholarships may be obtained from Ms. McClenaghan in the Career Center, room 129A, next to the Student Store and on the THHS website, under the PTSA link, “Senior Scholarships.” Completed applications may be submitted to Ms. McClenaghan in the Career Center. The deadline is Friday, April 26th, 2019 by 3pm. Stop by the Career Center or visit the website today to obtain your application!

Graduation and Senior Brunch Tryouts Theme: Keep Moving Forward Are you interested in performing or speaking at graduation or Senior Brunch? Try-out in the ASB Rm 300

Speech- May 7th at Snack & Lunch Speeches can be individual or up to 2 people (Need to Incorporate Theme) 1 person=1.5 minute time limit 2 people=2 minute time limit (Note: Valedictorian is the only one who does not need to try out)

Entertainment- May 14th at Snack & Lunch (Guitar, song, skit, comedy, etc. Need to incorporate theme) individual or groups up to 5

Commencement Tickets: Each senior will receive six tickets for the graduation ceremony. Additional tickets (up to 2 more tickets per student) can be requested through the senior students’ webstore May 3rd- May 24th. Note: There is no guarantee of additional tickets.

It is strongly recommended that students who may need additional tickets ask friends/students for any extra tickets not being used.

Senior Final Exam Schedule Week- Thursday June 6- periods 2,4,6 Friday June 7- periods 3,5,7 Monday June 10- period 1 (7am-9am)

Monday, June 10th- Senior Awards Night at 6pm Seniors who are invited to Senior Awards Night should report to the gym at 5:45pm.

Tuesday, June 11th- Senior Outing (5:30-10:30pm) Senior Dinner and Dance Cruise cost is $80 w/ASB, $90 w/out ASB. Payment is due to the student store by May 25th. Webstore purchase is also available (click on the shopping cart on the right side of the Trabuco Hills website). Students will enjoy a 2.5 hour evening dinner and dance cruise aboard the Endless Dreams, a 145 foot Hornblower yacht in Newport Harbor. Students need to check in at 5:30 pm. Busses will depart at 5:45 pm from THHS. Students will be able to select a bus with their friends, provided they sign up May 20-24th in student store or online webstore. This special event includes transportation, soda bar, buffet dinner, DJ with dancing, and an open-air sundeck to watch the sunset. Seniors only and no guests. (Approx. return time to THHS is 10:30 pm)

Tuesday, June 11th- 8:00 am Buy Cap and Gown $50 Cash Only (Only for students who haven’t bought)

Graduation Practice & Cap and Gown Distribution- 8:30am- Report at 8:30am Seniors should report to the gym at 8:30 am for orientation and graduation practice. Student name pronunciation and correct names will be checked for inclusion into the graduation ceremony.

Cap and Gown Distribution Caps and gowns will be distributed at graduation practice for those seniors whose financial, service and discipline obligations are clear. If you didn’t order a cap and gown, they will be sold for $50 at 8:00 am (CASH ONLY).

Wednesday, June 12th- Graduation Practice & Ticket Distribution Students should meet in the gym at 8:30 am. Line up order will be determined, followed by a graduation walkthrough.

Ticket Distribution- Six graduation tickets will be distributed to seniors as they exit the practice.

Wednesday, June 12th- Senior Brunch $15 with ASB and $20 without ASB and $20 at the door. Celebrate graduation with your senior class in the MPR after graduation practice. Submit pictures to [email protected] to have your pictures in the senior slideshow by May 31st. Buy your Senior Brunch ticket through the webstore by June 7th.

Thursday, June 13th- Commencement Ceremony Commencement will be held at 7:30 pm in the THHS Stadium. Admission will be by ticket only. Seniors should report to the GYM by 6:30 pm in caps and gowns. Important: Seniors will be searched prior to marching into the stadium. Leave all personal belongings at home (i.e. sunglasses, purses, cell phones, keys, and cameras).

Dress Code- Please dress semi-formal Guidelines: Closed toe shoes, long pants, shirts w/ collar, skirts or dresses, and no flip- flops (avoid high heels that will sink into the turf).

Graduation Photographer- A graduation photographer has been booked to take pictures of seniors as they receive their diplomas. These photos will be made available directly to parents by mail after the commencement. Personal photos may be taken following the ceremony.

Diploma Pick-up- Diplomas will be distributed following Graduation on the football field by the long jump pit.

Grad Nite is a PTSA Sponsored Event and NOT included in the ASB Package. All Grad Nite fees go towards the costs of the venues, food & beverage, transportation, and any other Grad Nite expenses. The THHS PTSA does not collect money for the purposes of fundraising or any income surplus.

Additional Items Jostens Cap & Gown- Jostens will also have gowns available for purchase at delivery on June 11th at 8:00 am. The cost will be $50 cash.

Announcements- Announcement orders will be delivered April 30th and May 2nd. Jostens has a limited number of custom announcements available for purchase ONLINE, so if you missed the deadline, you can still purchase them until they run out. Name cards and other fine paper items are also available.

Senior Jewelry- Class Rings, Bracelets, Tags and Sarah Chloe jewelry items are still available for purchase. Visit Jostens.com to design your exclusive 2019 jewelry item. Most orders ship within 5 weeks. There is no deadline for these items.

Letterman Jackets- If you are interested in purchasing a letterman jacket, please call Jostens’ office at 949.285.6247. They have a new retail walk-in location at 27762 Forbes Road #7, Laguna Niguel. Call for store hours.

Discipline Obligations- The last Saturday School for seniors will be June 8th. Students with outstanding disciplinary obligations will not be able to walk in the graduation ceremony. Seniors need to have zero (0) demerits to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. In addition, graduation tickets will not be issued to seniors with outstanding disciplinary obligations.

The final Loss of Privileges list for 2019 will be posted on May 6th. Seniors with 6 or more demerits will be placed on this list and not be permitted to participate in senior activities until they clear all demerits.

Seniors who are placed on a behavior contract for drugs, alcohol, or weapons will not be able to walk at graduation if the offense occurs after April 3rd. An offense that occurs before that date will require the student to follow the guidelines in the behavior contract to “earn- back” the ability to walk in the graduation ceremony.

Seniors Don’t Get Caught Up In a Senior Prank: If a student is caught being involved in a senior prank, consequences can include: no awards night, no prom, no senior outing, no grad tickets, no walking at graduation, no grad nite! And a very expensive bill to clean or repair the campus.

Debts Cleared- All debts, including lost textbooks, library fines, sports and extracurricular commitments must be cleared by June 7th or sooner. Tickets will not be distributed if there is any outstanding debt. All library debts must be paid in CASH ONLY by Thursday, June 6th or sooner. Tickets will not be issued to seniors with fines owed. Fines must be paid with CASH ONLY.

Message for Mid-Year Graduates- If you are planning on participating in senior week activities, remember that it is your responsibility to meet ticket deadlines and necessary rehearsals.

Anything Involving Money Needs to be Paid in CASH (thank you).
