In Langlée, very close to Montargis, Hiram Hutchinson established in 1853 a factory dedicated to the transformation of compound for the production of articles under the brand «Aigle®». For 160 years, the Group has designed, developed and manufactured high-performance products. Every day, the brand pushes the boundaries of technology, providing more comfort and safety. In 1890, the production of bicycle tires began, developing our know-how up to now on the same site. The Hutchinson group boasts an exceptional research center, in which every year 5% of our overall turnover is invested, i.e. 171 million Euros in 2016. Almost 150 employees and 200 engineers work on the development of the best technology based on the use of compound. The new Eleven Storm® compound and the puncture- proof Serenity design are the results of this work. Hutchinson relies on numerous patents to offer the most technically advanced products, for competition and for leisure. 07 www.hutchinsontires.com IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE GIANTS Cécile Ravanel & Isabeau Courdurier Since its creation, Hutchinson has been at the service of the greatest champions, working with them to keep improving its product range, meeting all cyclists’ expectations. This story is first the one of the road slaves, writing the most compelling pages of the Tour de France legend. Sylvain Chavanel Lilian Calmejane With Hutchinson, Louison Bobet won 3 consecutive yellow jerseys, as well as the Paris-Roubaix race and Jacques Anquetil brought to 5 the record number of victories in the Tour. Then followed the Mercier Hutchinson team’s achievements, led by the popular Raymond Poulidor as well as Cyrille Guimard and Joop Zoetemelk, achieving a total of 24 podium places in the Tour de France. More recently, Richard Virenque, Laurent Jalabert, Evo Bike Park Yoann Barelli Alberto Contador and the controversial Lance Armstrong have all put their trust in Hutchinson to assist with their performance. In mountain biking, the invention of the Tubeless tire propelled Hutchinson right to the top, accompanying in particular Julien Absalon in his Olympic triumph (2008), the seven-time DH World Champion Nicolas Vouilloz as well as Eric Barone in his speed record (227 km/h on snow in 2017). • CYCLING LEGENDS Autoworld in Het Thema Van De Tour De France!

Introduction Ottavio Bottecchia died on June 15, 1927. Ninety years have since passed, but he has not faded into oblivion. If you pause to listen, you can hear the faint sound of his breath. The echoes of his horn, echoing through the mountains, the great horn of Orlando. Bottecchia does not merely belong to the histories of sport or Italy, but in the tales of heroic deeds. His accomplishments are too great for reporters, they should be told by the poets. He emerged at the time of the "giants of the road". Audacious and pure, defying the ambushes. The bicycle was his sword, the Excalibur next to which he died. The mountain roads of Friuli were his battleground. Throughout Bottecchia's life, heroism, mystery and tragedy are all interwoven with glorious embellishment. If Bartali was the champion of faith, then Bottecchia was the hero of war. If Bartali was the river Jordan, then Bottecchia was the Piave. Bartali was like a crusader, he had an army at his back and God on his side. Bottecchia stood alone, an embodiment of all these values. Face to face with Rommel at the Tagliamento. He was the prisoner that escaped three times. He was the champion of migrants. His footsteps have been traced by millions of Italians. Those who were cannon fodder. Those with cardboard suitcases. Those who crossed boundaries and challenged the unknown. Those who, instead of a bank account, had two counsellors: dreams and despair. First Carnera has her own shoes. They leave heavy footprints. He was the man of metamorphosis.
