Participants must be able to swim 200 yards (8 lengths) continuously, tread water for two minutes (without using their hands) and retrieve a diving brick (approximately 10 lbs.) from the bottom of the 12 foot pool. An online e-learning course must be fully completed by the participant before the first day of class. Participants must provide their personal email address upon registration and will receive an email invitation with log-in instructions for the e-learning approximately 3-4 weeks before their class date. It will not be sent automatically upon registration. Participants will be emailed a more detailed schedule prior to class starting. NOTE: This lifeguard class is for certification purposes only. 6 NormalParks.org /NormalParks.org @NormalParksandRec WINTER & SPRING 2019-2020 BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION PROGRAM Grades K-5

Are you looking for a program full of recreational activities for your student before and after school? Normal Parks and Recreation & AFTER SCHOOL BEFORE offers a Before and After School Recreation Program (BSRP/ASRP) for the 2019-20 school year. The program will be offered at eight local Unit 5 Elementary School sites. BSRP is offered from 6:45-7:30am (scheduled late start days are included). The Late Start Day only Program (LSDP) is offered from 6:45-8:30am on scheduled Unit 5 Late Start Days (see Unit 5 calendar for these dates). ASRP is offered from 2:30-5:30pm. The program is designed to provide students with recreational, educational, and social opportunities in a safe environment. Students enjoy playground and gym time, recreation activities, games, crafts, and have the opportunity to start on homework. A light snack is offered during both BSRP/ASRP. PLEASE NOTE: BSRP will not meet on days that Unit 5 has a weather-related Late Start Day due to inclement weather.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration for remaining openings in session 2 are currently taking place at the Normal Parks and Recreation Department Office. Registration for sessions 3 and 4 will also take place at the Normal Parks and Recreation Office.

CURRENT PARTICIPANT Current participants must complete re-enrollment forms and submit them to the Normal Parks and Recreation Office during the indicated registration weeks in order to retain their space in the program. Current participants have one week to re-enroll. There will be no exceptions. A lottery system was used to complete initial enrollment for the 1st and 2nd sessions of the 2019-20 school year. We will continue to use a lottery system for any subsequent openings in sessions 3 and 4.

NEW PARTICIPANT New participants must submit forms each session to be a part of the lottery for any open spaces in the program. If a new participant enters a form for the lottery, but doesn’t get into the program, he/she will go on a waiting list for that session only. If openings become available, the waitlist family will be notified. Registration form deadlines and lottery dates for each nine week session are listed on the following pages. Any registration forms that are turned in after the deadline will be processed after the lottery, and only if openings are available. Note: Registration for BSRP/ASRP is not available online. If there are questions or concerns you may call our office at (309) 454-9540.
