Cie Philippe Genty - Forget Me Not With 8 UK premieres and 6 London Cie Non Nova L’Après-Midi d’Un Foehn premieres, the festival, as always, Cie Non Nova Vortex introduces a stunning programme of new Gecko - Missing work to the Capital that will challenge, excite Jakop Ahlbom - Lebensraum and inspire. Shows using circus skills Cie MPTA/Mathurin Bolze - A Bas Bruit Opening with Compagnie Non Nova’s Fet a Mà - Cru magical manipulation of air and identity, the festival explores issues relevant today. The beautiful airborne creatures dancing to Debussy’s music are replaced here by a storm of demons, as invisible air currents allow a different set of extraordinary characters to fly and float before our eyes. Poetry is created and history told in this startling show about identity. Phia Ménard studied theatre, movement and juggling, and was a member of the Jérôme Thomas company before founding circus-theatre troupe Compagnie Non Nova in 1998. It has performed in more than 40 countries around the world. Two inventors live together in a tiny room. Lack of space is not an issue, a system of ropes and pulleys brings everything to hand and furniture has multiple functions - the bed is a piano, the bookcase serves as a fridge. Life runs smoothly until the two create a female robot to take care of domestic chores. But their extremely life-like creation has a mind of its own and soon goes out of control… Swedish-born director Jakop Ahlbom is an actor, mime, acrobat and all-round theatre maker. This award-winning production features live music accompaniment from indie-rock band Alamo Race Track. Developed from 3 stage shows appearing at Edinburgh & Melbourne Comedy Festivals, The Boosh has since produced a 6 episode radio series, 3 television series (a total of 20 television episodes) for the BBC, which have aired worldwide and 2 sell out live tours of the UK, as well as performing exclusive live shows in the United States and Australia. Dave Brown has been part of The Mighty Boosh since its conception in the late 90s. Over the years he has been involved in many aspects of the show from designing DVDs, books and merchandise to choreography, music and playing many characters in the show itself, most famously Bollo, the Gorilla. Dave’s also had a camera in his hand from day 1 of the show. These photographs of his fellow cast members and good friends span over 12 years. Photographs from early live gigs, filming the TV shows and behind the scenes whilst on tour. They provide a unique insight into the lives and characters of The Mighty Boosh collective. Dave is alone in his photographic documentation of the show. He has reduced his extensive archive to 46 of his personal favourites to exhibit here at Oriel Colwyn, many being shown for the first time.
